We hope this finds you enjoying the Fall/Winter weather and the beginnings of the holiday spirit – another year that’s racing by!  

We have some very exciting news to share…

With Ziconic retiring from racing this past June, one of our visions and dreams is for him to be an Off The Track Thoroughbred (OTTB) Ambassador for the West Coast and beyond.  We believe Ziconic can be a great inspiration as well as demonstrate the possibilities for Thoroughbreds in a post-racing career. Supporting special venues that hold our same values is central to Ziconic’s OTTB ambassadorship; From Racehorse to Sporthorse.

As our 1st OTTB Ambassador opportunity, we have found the perfect venue for Ziconic to champion and at the perfect time of year. In collaboration with Templeton Farms (Ziconic’s Home) and Sarah Pollock Sporthorses (Ziconic’s Trainer), we are delighted to support CARMA with The Thoroughbred Holiday Classic Horse Show, December7th & 8that the LA Equestrian Center. Our “Holiday Trifecta”!  

We are honored to help promote this wonderful event and debut some of Ziconic’s new branding.  These images will be featured on a jump we are sponsoring in the jumping court and will also be one of the jumps in the Trainer & Jockey Calcutta, held on Saturday evening, December 8th, where Trainers and Jockeys compete in jumping rounds on OTTBs. Such Fun!

Just like his Mom, Zenyatta, Ziconic does things on his own time. While Ziconic will not be attending the Thoroughbred Holiday Classic Horse Show this year, we could not be happier with his transition to date with Sarah at Templeton Farms – we are so proud of him and what they are starting to demonstrate in the jumping court.  We are already looking forward to 2020 and great things to come!

      Thanks so much for posting Hovis’ diary version of his operation. I laughed heartily! What a grand sense of humor our Hovis and his mum have. Power Up, brave Hoverine!

      I must say how utterly patient and calm our boy Hovis appears while being worked on — he is such a rock. That is some fancy hoof apparatus he is sporting — quite an engineering feat (for the feet) by Herman and CNSM.

      Hovis is one impressive boy! Continued prayers for his wellbeing and successful recovery. All the best, Hovis and Karen!

      Oh my, that was such a dark day. Remembering and wishing the world was a kinder place now, but realizing that things are even worse. RIP innocents and bless those who will mourn these tragedies forever. Mass killings have become much too common — prayers to make them stop.

      Hi Judith
      I read this yesterday and have to admit that I was somewhat disturbed. I know he is not my horse but I really do love him and would be devastated if anything were to happen to him.

      Anyway California Chrome and Gun Runner made the trip to Dubai as well as many others. They came back and subsequently ended up doing well. It just seems such a shame that these horses have to travel out of our own country with so many prestigious races available here.

      Sounds like the Saudi Cup will have quite a few of the best American runners. Oh well.

      Stormy, you were not winless in 2019. You were probably pushing through the pain and still got 2 places and 3 shows from 7 starts. Poor boy.

      Thank you Old Friends for giving Stormy the life he deserves. Rest and love for you dear sweet boy.

          This is such great news! So happy to hear that brave Stormy Liberal will be retiring to Old Friends. Many thanks to all for caring enough to give him a thorough physical evaluation. Now he will get the dream retirement he deserves! All the best to Stormy, always.

          Big Congratulations to Bricks and Mortar who wins the Secretariat Vox Populi award! Well done and much deserved after his amazing recovery from a neuromuscular condition. He really “knocked it out of the park” this year in racing.

      Dear Sheena,

      This is abominable — just when you think humans can’t be more despicable, another evil action occurs. These horses did nothing to deserve such cruelty. I hope these vicious murderers are caught and severely punished.

      RIP The Lieutenant, Cyrus Alexander, Timely Advice and Kung Fu Mambo — innocent souls. Condolences to all who cared for and loved these beautiful stallions.

    Dear Sheena, Kathy & Marshall,
    I just received an email from my best friend who lives about 1 hr. from Ocala, FL. She told me that there is a Hispanic ring of horse thieves around her area that are stealing horses from people’s barns in the middle of the night and are butchering them while the horses are still alive! So far the thieves have stolen horses in four counties near her.
    Jamie said that she is scared to leave her home because she has 4 horses. She is also a vet tech for a large animal vet and works 12+ hr. days.
    A 20 thousand dollar reward is being offered for the capture of the thieves. I pray that these evil people are caught soon.
