Ziconic, Ziconic, it looks like you put on the breaks if you get rapped by the whip on your butt! Little man you must learn this is only to remind you of ‘the urgency of the moment’ and to fire up the afterburners! This is NOT the time to ‘Cop An Attitude’!
Ann NC
So cute. Yes, not the time to rebel, Zi.
Love him and certain all gears will click soon!
Mary M
I looks like a very slow pace. Maybe he needs a complimentary entry, a speed horse, to set a faster pace. He looked asleep at the wheel the first half. Then copped an “A”ttitude!

Glad to see him back!

I would like to say, that I’m not criticizing John, I’m just watching very closely, and this is not a horse without talent; or he wouldn’t have the ability of closing like he does, once he is up with horses about mid-pack. He does not break slow; he breaks with the pack, then he keeps losing ground, until he loses contact with the field. At this point, he acts like he doesn’t even realize he’s in a race. There is nothing wrong with his heart, because once he realizes he has horses to pass, and has a short of getting by, he puts on the afterburners. At Lanes End, they said that he loved training and running, and even ran in his sleep. There are training videos and pictures, where he is with two other horses, and you can see in his eyes and action, he has fight in him. John knows he has talent, or he wouldn’t keep putting him in races. I do think he has been taught to drop back. I’m afraid of him losing confidence; I already saw that some of the fire wasn’t there this last time. I’m just saying that there is no way this smaller, but powerful muscular horse, is going to run like a big long striding horse like Zenyatta, even if she is his mother, and not to forget he has a pretty good father too, who he is built like. Seeing this isn’t working, why not try training him like his body type, and like the other side of his pedigree. Maybe it would help to try blinkers; he does like to look. He is smart, and learns his lessons well, maybe too well, dropping way back. I hate to see a horse who loves his job, lose all that!

Dear Judy.Thunderstorms and flash floods in the SE of England tonight.Quieter here so far!Young Joe has bought a son of Yeats for €100,000 bidding against Nicky Henderson. The boy means business!Any Currency who won the Glenfarclas cross country at the festival tested positive for a cortisone substance. The injections are allowed during training but must be out of the system by race day.The owners are fuming because the injection was given 42 days before the race same as last year.He will be disqualified now and it was a hugely popular win.Glesni and the “bobs”are fast asleep.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

We prolong problems and severe personal upsets by repeatedly going over them in our minds. Our minds are like a movie screen on which we project images hour after hour. When we change these images from bad ones to good ones, we will quickly recover from our problems and upsets. Once we see the folly of constantly watching destructive images, it’s easy to let go of them. What once seemed like loss, now becomes a gain. We become healthier and stronger when we focus our minds on positive images. The most successful survivors of the Depression years took great pleasure in seeing potential gain where everyone else saw loss.

Dear Kathy.I tend to go over my past mistakes a lot.Impossible to change of course.I was watching some of the super Tuesday results who won in CA?The ratties were busy boting.Another warm day here some severe storms in places last night.Getting cooler on Friday. The “bobs” are just lazing about baby “bob” looks more like a little osprey now.Do you see the bear video on Joey’s page?that was cool.A very distressing video of a kitten called Prince on Viktor’s page today I have shared it.Bless him, his poor eyes are so infected and they were removing the maggots from them.I pray they can save him.
I heard the temps with Mango were over 100F the other day.I think they are still camping.Loki had a great birthday momma stayed home and Dr Nancy called he has put on too much weight 17lbs 9ozs now!He has to go on a diet there will be a lot of meowing in his house but on the bright side he has survived 16 months since his diagnosis with congestive heart failure. No news from Fubu wasn’t it his birthday recently or am I mistaken?Have a lovely day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Trump/Clinton won in CA. We will be getting warmer. Summer is just around the corner so it’s to be expected. The ospreys grow so fast. Yes, I saw that bear video. So cute!!! I’ll look for that kitten video. That poor baby. Our southwest is very warm right now. I worry about little Zoe, too. Very hot in Scottsdale. Thankfully her Mommy takes such excellent care of her. Glad Loki’s birthday celebration was enjoyable. 17 lbs. 9 oz. is a lot for a cat! Not sure about Fubu’s birthday. Hopefully we will get regular posts soon. You have a lovely day as well. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

If horses teach you anything it is patience – you would know that if you ever owned a horse. John is the greatest trainer ever and he gave us Zenyatta racing in the Hall of Fame. So please think about what you write and your “opinions” on this website and show some respect to the owners and trainer of our Queen Z and her boys.

Denise,
Having been around horses a bit, I have found that sometimes certain people and certain horses just gibe. No disrespect to John but we do have a right to our opinions. We all just want to see both boys do well.

Dear Denise, I for one, respect the owners as one of the best owners of race horses, and wish more owners were like them, I never would disrespect them. I also respect John, and know of his love for all his horses, and especially Zenyatta. I’m sure he may be scratching his head, and second guessing himself right now, maybe along the lines that we are expressing. The last time I looked we still live in a country where we have free speech, AND WE ALL LOVE THE OWNERS, THE FARM, AND THE ZENYATTA TEAM; WE LOVE HER BABIES, AND ONLY WANT TO SEE THEM DO WELL, BUT ON THEIR OWN TERMS. To say we are disrespectful, is being disrespectful to us. You can disagree, but please don’t resort to name calling, that’s not the Zenyatta way of peace and love!! I send that love to you; we all are hopelessly in love with Zenyatta, her babies, and her connections!!
Sally Blank (cherishes Z and her foals)
I am back Zenyatta but I have missed so much and have missed all about the race of your son Ziconic. I will have to go back to read.
Love you with kisses Z and all of your sons,

We are not talking about freedom of speech – we are talking about being disrespectful to the trainer & owners with your negative comments. Speaking of which John is a veteran who sacrifed for his country to ensure everyone has freedom of speech, but I am pretty sure he doesn’t need or want your negative comments about his training.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Peace and Goodnight to all!
Sweet Dreams to Z and her family.

Re Harry and the Snowman (thanks BGG !), this past weekend Rod & I saw “Dark Horse,” a documentary type film about these working class people in a Welsh mining town who get together to breed, train and eventually race Dream Alliance. The ups and down involved with owning a racehorse are told eloquently by the real people involved—but in fact the whole town/village was crazy about this horse, whom they all referred to as “Dream.” There is even a brief–very brief–reference to Hollywood Park and Bien Bien. Not in major release…one has to search for it, but it is out now. Recommended!!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dream Alliance was very famous in Wales and spent his early years on an allotment.Glad you enjoyed the film.Sheena

Okay. This is probably a dumb question, but I have wondered about it for awhile now. Do the owners/trainers put up an entry fee for all races? Is it minimal or maybe a little hefty? Just curious.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Pam:
This is a lengthy article, but I think it will answer your question and explain when nomination fees and entry fees are necessary in stakes races. Love and Hugs, JB

It is strange how something can be so important at one moment and totally unimportant at another, with a very short time in between. As we grow, our spirits grow and we let go of ideas, attitudes, beliefs, and feelings we once thought were set in concrete. As lovely or unlovely as something may be, it never stays the same. It cannot. It grows into something newer and richer, or gives way to nothing.
Life is a fluid thing, and we need to “go with the flow.” If we become rigid and inflexible, we can too easily be shattered. We need to be softened by love. Love is the spiritual force that girds us in our weak moments, heals us when nothing else can help, and gives us purpose. Love not only gives us life, but it also helps us to live life fully and with contentment.
I thank God that I have this opportunity.
