Dear Fans,

Winter has been both busy and a lot of fun at the Farm.  Despite that it is February and the middle of Winter, the California Central Coast has felt more like Spring.  This has benefited our ability to train outside instead of just the covered arena every day.  So Ziconic gets to spend more time with Sarah enjoying warm up and cool down on the track that weaves through Templeton Farms and in the jumping court – his happy place.

We had some BIG FUN at the Farm earlier this month with our good friend, Chelsea Schmitz, Stories Told by Film.  Chelsea started her career as an equine photographer, and now focuses on weddings and events – BUT, she has not lost her eye or touch for horses.  We love what Chelsea does and think she has captured the essence of Ziconic during this photo shoot.  And one of several things we can confirm that Ziconic shares with his Mom, Zenyatta; They ALWAYS know where the camera is!

We were so honored to have Jen Roytz, Executive Director, Retired Racehorse Project, visit us last month!  The love and effort this organization generates to support Thoroughbreds after their racing careers is truly AMAZING!  The next Thoroughbred Makeover will be October 7 – 10, 2020, Kentucky Horse Park, with 616 entries accepted – WOW!!  This is where brother, Cozmic One, made his debut competing for the 1st time and came in 5th!

As mentioned in our last post, one of our visions and dreams for Ziconic is to have a role as an Off The Track Thoroughbred (OTTB) Ambassador for the West Coast and beyond.  And as he continues his OTTB transition, we truly believe he is indeed becoming a great inspiration as a Sporthorse.  Last December 2019, we sponsored a jump to support CARMA and The Thoroughbred Holiday Classic Horse Show at the LA Equestrian Center. We think this turned out GREAT!  So, we are very pleased to have our jump represented at the next Thoroughbred Classic Horse Show Spring 2020, March 21 – 22, 2020 at Galway Downs, Temecula, CA.

Please Note:  Unfortunately, Ziconic will not be attending this show at Galway Downs, but we do have plans in the future, so please stay tuned.    

If you have been following Ziconic on Facebook, you know he has become quite the Jolly Ball player.  This has become an everyday occurrence that can go on for 15 minutes at a time.  Z-Z, as everyone in the barn calls him, has learned how to “fling” his Jolly Ball, which then ends up in his neighbor’s walkout until someone retrieves it for him.  He not only has mastered his twirl; he enjoys having an audience – no surprise!

Ziconic’s grandsire A.P. Indy passed away on Saturday at Lane’s End. Heart-felt condolences and R.I.P. to Lane’s End, Family, Connections.

      Thanks for posting these slideshows! Mi Vida and the Great Emmy M have produced two very lovely little fillies (congrats to Medaglia d’Oro and Street Boss, too). Congratulations to the new mamas and all parties/connections.

    Just watched the live stream from Lane’s End Virtual Stallion Tour.

    Another virtual tour is scheduled for Monday, March 30th at 1:00 PM. They will be visiting Zenny on that tour and will bring her some treats. Go to Lane’s End Facebook to join the tour. The LE tour guide said Z is doing great! Love and Hugs, JB

      Sandy from Ohio and I were both watching. Most of the farms are doing these virtual tours.

      I have been reading quite a bit but running out of books. Don’t know if anyone else here has read the Mitford series by Jan Karon. I am reading again as I saved them from years ago. What are you guys reading?

      Shirlee and I were both watching live – it was fun! Hope everyone caught what you said before about Lane’s End doing another tour on Monday at 1:00 that will include OUR ZENYATTA!! As far as I know, it will be on their Facebook page (the first tour they did was on Instagram). We can all watch and talk to each other?

        I watched today’s tour on Lane’s End’s Facebook page live too. It was on both
        and I believe Monday’s tour is on both Instagram and Facebook too. You don’t have to be a member of Facebook to access the live tour. The link I posted above is LE’s Facebook page.

    Taylor Made Farm has a video on facebook. In the foaling barn and with a mare and her foal. Best one I have seen so far. The Guide really knew her stuff and goes in the stall and pets mom and baby.

    Happy Friday everyone!
    First of all LANE’S END HAS CHANGED THE TOUR FROM MONDAY TO WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1ST WHICH IS ALSO ZENNY’S BIRTHDAY! The time is now 12:30, and the tour will be led by William Farrish, the owner of LE.

    Across the pond, Hovey has a new love interest – I have to think this isn’t going to end well as he continues his campaign to impress her :-) There are several references to things I just don’t get this week, but he is entertaining as always. Hope everyone is hanging in there and staying well. Predictions here in Ohio are very sobering for the end of April and the beginning of May.

      Thanks for the Lane’s End tour info. I will try to remember to watch, especially since it is Queen Z’s birthday (and Ziconic’s, too — if my feeble brain remembers correctly. LOL).

      Oh my, Hovis has been quite active — cavorting around and flirting! He is hilarious as usual. Thanks for the weekly visit! There were some references that I didn’t get either, but he is always entertaining. Hope his hoof is continuing to heal properly.

      Have a good weekend, and stay well. We are under “Stay at Home” restrictions here, probably through April. Worrisome times indeed.

    Hello All,

    I am so excited for Wednesday to see Zenyatta on the Lane’s End tour. I will surely be watching.
    While staying home due to the corona virus, I had the time to finally watch my Zenyatta, Queen of Racing, dvd. It is fantastic; it made me cry to watch her races and just to relive the days when she was racing. It showed so much of her personality and what a special horse she is. It also showed all the people involved with her… Steve Willard, Mario and of course Mike Smith, the Mosses, John and Dottie and David Ingordo. If any of you haven’t seen it, make sure you get a copy. You will love it.

    NBC Sports will be broadcasting live racing today and tomorrow from 4to 8.

    Computer acting up anytime I post on the blog. Hope this gets through.

    A radio station here in Indy is playing Christmas songs! Better than nonstop doom and gloom.

    Oh almost forgot. There is a video of Zellda’s workout on facebook. She looks as if she has grown and is a bit of a headstrong little girl. Glad John and the Mosses are taking their time with her.

    Just saw on Bloodhorse.com that some of the American horses got home yesterday from Dubai. Among them: Tizamagician, Math Wizard, War Story, United and Shotski.

    All reported to have traveled well and will be quarantined in NJ for 48 hours and them off to where they are going to be stabled.
