We’re adding new prints to the Zenyatta Shop this morning. A sunset portrait of 13Z and photo of Cozmic One in a misty wash stall are available here in the 8″ x 10″ and 11″ x 14″ sizes.

This week, the first 20 customers to spend $30 or more at the Zenyatta Shop will also receive the small print “Zenyatta & Colt, April 2, 2013” free of charge.

      Thanks for this link. You are correct in advising us to have tissues at the ready. John and Schoep illustrate how very special is the bond between us and our companion creatures. My dogs are deeply entrenched in my heart and soul which is as it should be. The fact that Schoep lived so long is a tribute to John’s love and care.
      Many hugs to all creatures great and small — you enrich our lives immeasurably.

        Darlene, I have my doubts about MMM being able to beat Fort Larned today after only racing a few times this year. My hope is to see them both in the BC Classic and Muchie winning this time. However, if Palace Malice keeps on at the rate he is going, he could be a formidable opponent for either of them.

        I’ve been thinking how disappointed you would be with the result :-( Commentators thought he didn’t get a good ride (it all passes by so quickly, it just seems like a blur to me – don’t know how these folks track the moves of each and every horse).

    Just saw on Bloodhorse.com that Rockport Harbor was euthanized. What is going on? It seems as if every day we are losing horses. Beginning to really worry about the ones running today.

    Wonderful video of Mike and really enjoyed the visit to the three horse farms in the second one. What a place to live for a horse or a human. Loved the look at Three Chimneys and Lane’s End is the perfect spot for Zenyatta and her boys. In a perfect world all retired race horses would enjoy such luxury. For the real world, lets pray that all the beautiful animals we follow on the racetrack are allowed to retire when the time is right to a better spot in the world than most do find. Let them live out their lives in peace and the comfort of equine friends, loving humans and a safe home.

    I have been having trouble with my email for the past three days and have been unable to access. Looks like I am going to have to spot the ‘cappers a week. Just for the record, I am picking Ron The Greek. Lot of speed in the race to set it up for him and he likes Saratoga. Good luck to all.

    “Cappers”….Is it normal to get reminders to make your pick? I got two today within 5 min. of each other and I really thought I made my pick Thurs. after I got the e-mail. I went to the Zentastic page and there was a cute ticket there with my pick on it, but there was the green button to submit, so I did. Sure hope I haven’t messed up by doing that. I’ll be very happy when this week is over and I will have one “under my belt”. Rookie jitters, even though Sandy told me just to have fun with it. Good luck to all. Marty R

      I got those emails too. I think they are just reminders. Some people don’t pick till the last minute. As long as your tickets shows what you selected you are good. Have fun I only won once ly…

      I got two of them too. I made my pick prior to receiving them so I went in to check to be sure my picks were there and they were. Guess they sent reminders to everyone.

    I am in shock. Comcast here in Indy is broadcasting 2 horse racing shows. Of course, both at the same time. We are getting Saratoga and W.Va Derby. Hope the Whitney and derby (only Derby is in Louisville) don’t go off at the same time. It will be hard to cheer for Muchie and Departing at the same time.

    Well, Mother Nature is raising havoc over a large portion of the state. When the horses got into the starting gate, our local station broke in with the weather reports and when the reports were over, so was the race. I have no idea where Alpha ended up, but it was not in 3rd place like I needed him to be. I’ll have to watch the replay. And, it’s onward to next week.

      Marty,
      You will get (or perhaps it’s already arrived) an email saying that the results are available. You can watch the race first if you want – they include the video although I see it’s also up here in another post. Then you can see the results for the team – and for most of us, it’s back to the drawing board. Three cheers to the three team members who registered some $$$. Don’t know if they want to be known – I’ll wait and see if any one them post. Anyhow, it was fun as always – better luck to almost all of us next week.

      Carol, I saw Dan go over as he was leaving the paddock before the race. Vet checked him out and said he was okay to run. Did he fall again at the end of the race?

        BG. Saw this incident on NBC. It was awful. It could have been very serious. I was surprised that Dan ran so well after that. Dan’s got courage.

        • Hope he came out of the race in good order. He is a champ! if the Whitney had been 1 1/4, it would have been his race. Glad he regained his composure and showed those young-uns how to do it!! Great come from behind effort! Yeah S. Dan.
          The incident…….kudos to all handlers for keeping it cool, calm, collected. I’m sticking w/ the pros. The Dans have really given us some racing memories this year. Thank you, Wise and Successful Dans. Incredible!

        Perhaps I can blame Muchie’s loss on Dan upsetting him when he flipped right in front of him. Guess I really can’t as MMM did not appear to be upset at all. Oh well, he earned $75,000 and is over $2 million in earning so I guess he has enough money to pay for his hay.

      I watched it “live” and saw Dan fall. It seemed like an awful fall to me and then I watched the post parade and saw his eyes and head leaning on the pony and thought this isn’t good. He checked out ok by the vet and ran like the wind. If it was 1 mile and 1/4 he would have won it! He is an amazing athlete.

    Dear Kathy R am sure your cricket blokes read those jokes(they were great) they are playing awfully well in this 3rd test. Declared 527-7 in 1st innings and at close of play England (thank God for Kevin P) were 294-7 cant see them winning this test somehow!!As for Brown Panther might be worth an each way bet he’s a good horse hugs Sheena

      Sheena. Cricket jokes are lost on me. No idea what it all means. Ashes?

      However, here is a good video of Call me Bubbles winning the hurdle on the last day of the Galway Festival for Willie Mullins. Like Moosie, Bubbles is both a flat and jump horse. He reminds me of Tasty. Mullins said that Bubbles won by working on Plan E, because all other plans A through D fell through. Terrific run by Bubbles and Ruby for the finish.

        • Vicki. Bubbles is from the same stable as Hurricane Fly and Quevega, both also trained by Willie Mullins. Their jockey is Ruby Walsh, who used to ride Kauto Star. Looks like Ruby’s plan to race mostly in Ireland for Willie Wullins is paying off. The Fly and Quevega are on vacation.

    Hi all congratulations to Crossfire on his win in the Whitney. Here’s the lastest news from Sally B:

    Hello all Zsters, I had a remarkable time out at the barn with Sir and Dr Amber the female chiropractor. She is just super with the adjustments. She may be an inch taller than I am and needs two bales of hay to stand up on when she gets to the point of working on Sirs upper spine and hip areas, but she sure knows what she is doing. Myself and a volunteer, Kristina, kept Sir relaxed and still, had to bring him back in place just a couple of times (when certain areas were adjusted Sir reacts). Sir was such a good boy and I do think he loved all the attention. He used to be a show horse after all. Ha. Dr Amber believes Sirs ulcer has improved and his left front stepping has improved (his front legs turned in when he walked.)
    Dr. Amber suggests the next chiropractic appointment just before winter. I am so happy for Sir. All went well!!

    Dear Max The Ashes are a series of test matches between England and Australia since 1882 England were beaten by Australia in the Oval and the sporting times said English cricket had died so the ashes were sent to Australia and we had to get them back .The series is played every 2 years Hope you understand all this!!!Congrats to Call me Bubbles and Ruby so glad plan E worked!!

    A: And you would be 100 percent right. You would also be 100 percent right if you said Holy Bull (1994 Travers winner). I would say those two horses. One got me to where I needed to be and one put me in another place. I would always have to say those two.

      Congrats again to those who finished with some $$$. I could hardly believe that 47 people (looking at the entire group of those playing) hit the exacta!! So much for going with an experienced horse or one who does well at that track, etc. etc. Apparently the “hot” horse was the deal in this race.
      Speaking of the exacta, could folks help me out with a mathematical debate? A friend and I were discussing the chances of hitting an exacta from a statistical standpoint (never mind about the horses’ abilities for this one). In an 8 horse field, I’m contending that the chances are 1/56 (1/8 for the first horse times 1/7 for the second one). She insists that it’s 1/64. Any ideas?
