Robin LOVES Zenyatta
It seems that two of the horses who broke down and were euthanized at Saratoga were trained by the same trainer. Do stewards or other officials usually look into this? What are the odds of this happening?
Terry Crow
Robin-I don’t know what the odds would be, but Bob Baffert has had much the same problem. Cases like this are investigated thoroughly.

Congratulations to Kitten’s Joy and offspring, also to the Ramseys, trainers, and jockeys. What a day they had!!
Does anyone know about the condition of Optimizer? He was eased and walked off in the Sword Dancer (Saratoga Race 9) today). Hope it isn’t serious. Best wishes to him.
Have a lovely weekend, dear Zenny, 13Z, and Coz! All the very best, always!
Pati-Caz Girl
Word from around the Saratoga bettors, people on site who talked with trainer and the rail birds is that he had a breathing issue. Maybe Bloodhorse will have an update on him by tomorrow, or First Call will have an update on everyone who raced today. I’ll watch tomorrow morning.
Indy Point was reported as walking fine after his dismal effort in the Arlington Million. Haven’t heard what exactly happened just yet. I’ll scan the DRF, Bloodhorse, and twitter sites tomorrow to see if anything was uncovered.
Marshall (NC broad)
Thanks bunches, Pati!
Sure hope both horses will be okay.

Will have to find out if his stable name is Bruce (or the French equivalent). I think the fillies/mares in the all grey races are called Kylie. Cheers KathyR.

Kathy R. Thanks for this news of Puissance. He has an extraordinary pedigree. Handsome too. The markings on his legs are quite distinctive. Love his mane. Perhaps his barn name is Brucé? Good to know about mares called Kylie.

Vale Typhoon Tracy.
It’s a year ago since we lost an Australian Horse of the Year and a true champion, Typhoon Tracy, who died just after delivering her first foal by Street Cry.
I had a reply to my question to Vinery Stud regarding Tracy’s little fellow today. They told me he is going extremely well, and has the quality his mother had.
I’m just so happy that her spirit lives on.
Hugs KathyR.

It wasn’t just Marty – several peeps indicated that their bet didn’t show up. I think a couple of steps have been added to the process now that they are allowing people to play in more than one league. I had a difficult time getting my bet to “take,” and I think that affected other people as well. The game techie people need to get this straightened out or the whole thing will go down the tubes.

Dear Zenny friends,
After watching the news last night and seeing the horrifying pictures of the wild fire in Idaho, I checked out the location and found that it is seriously close to where our dear Sue Noel lives in Sun Valley (and I’m not sure exactly where Barnaby is spending his summer vacation). One internet story indicated that people in that area may need to evacuate. I was unable to get in touch with her by phone. Please keep Sue and Barnaby and ALL of the folks being affected by this terrible fire in your thoughts and prayers. If I hear from her, I’ll post again (and same for anyone else who might be in touch, OK?).

Cappers I had a problem with my wager and I am hearing from a few others that it was not just me. I don’t know why FC added a step to making the wager. I will try and help next week but what you have to do is start your selection and then click on your team name like Sue FL Zentastic as step one. I guess because people are on more than one league this step was included. Then you move to step two and make your selection. I had to try three times to get mine completed and still picked the wrong horse for show. :( next week

Sue and Judy,
I had the same thing making my pick this week. Then, it took quite some time for the wagers to show for week 3. I play on another league also and it was the same way. Didn’t have any trouble for the first two weeks so they must have been encountering a problem. ( You really have to make sure that the message at the top says that your wager has been submitted)

I don’t usually do this but I’m asking for prayers for my daughter who will be having neck surgery tomorrow. She has a bad disk which is pinching the spine and the doctor will take a piece from her hip and somehow put it in the neck. Thanks for this info. What a fantastic bloodline and if Kitten’s Joy’s babies continue passing down these remarkable genes, this line could remain dominant on the turf as well as dirt races. Just a brilliant bloodline.
Of course, our Queen is contributing her own Roberto and Hail to Reason genes in her babies. Don’t know if the nick match is right, but can you imagine the possibilities of a Zennyhasakitten, as our Sue in Fl has suggested. Love and Hugs, JB

Thanks a Million: DQ gives Ken Ramsey Grade I trifecta by his stallion Kitten’s Joy
by Jennie Rees Courier-Journal Posted on August 18, 2013
My story on Saturday’s Arlington Million and Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s huge afternoon.
I was lucky enough to be at Belmont Park in 2007 when the Lane’s End stallion
Smart Strike produced three Grade I winners on the card with
Curlin (Jockey Club Gold Cup), English Channel (Joe Hirsch Turf Classic) and
Fabulous Strike (Vosburgh). That was huge, but this is one owner, who also is the breeder of the Grade I trifecta, with the horses all being by his stud Kitten’s Joy.

Dear Max Will certainly tell the Cambridges of your choice of names for any future children. Am sure the Queen will be delighted!!!We are wondering if Toronado will run in the Juddmonte on Wednesday. He will be taking on the extra distance like Frankel last year . I believe another flower is to be named in honour of Sir Henry a beautiful Sweet Pea one of my favourite hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. I would certainly cheer for Toro. I like him a lot. I only wish that he could inspire Moosie to make the effort. Watched the race at York where Moosie refused to run. It appears that he just decides not to bother, watches the other horses tear off and he trots back to the barn on his own. Jockey is left to wave his arms, all the time being ignored by Moose. It’s amazing.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Sheena and Max:
Do you think Moosie could have channeled Dynaformer? Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Maybe! Big D however did not refuse to race. He had no time for people who bothered him or invaded his space, but he would race. Nijinsky sometimes would refuse to work. I think that Tiznow did that too from time to time. However both of them ran at race time. No doubt other horses do refuse to race, but Moose seems to be making a major career move of it. Ironically he is owned by one of the UK’s best trainers. And also ironically his fame increases with each refusal.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Moosie certainly is unique. Wish he could tell us what it is that’s bothering him and causing him to refuse to run. Gotta love his independent attitude though. Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max Moose has a mind all of his own!!!is really quite funny to watch remember him tweeting channel 4 racing that at least he gave them something to talk about this summer and of course he met Meg!yes I have always liked toronado hope he will run.did you enjoy the birthday cake?hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. Loved the cake in honor of the beautiful Black Caviar. Red velvet seems right for her. Carrot cake is reserved for Queen Z. She always gets one for her birthday.
I can see why the other Queen might not take to the name of Bruce. It is the name of the king, Robert the Bruce, who secured an independent Scottish monarchy at the Battle of Bannockburn. It appears that the Scots have not yet given up on the idea of independence.
Gardening was a favorite past time of Sir Henry Cecil as you know. He had a beautiful garden at Warren Place. It is fitting that a rose and a sweet pea would bear his name.
Terry Crow
Robert the Bruce was a key figure during the time of William Wallace. He should be regarded as one of the all-time Scottish heroes.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Hi again Zenny friends,
Great news (at least in the short term) about Sue Noel. She called me back (unfortunately, I wasn’t home, but she left an encouraging message). Barnaby and Traveler were moved on Friday to what will actually be their new “winter quarters” and are safe and sound. Sue and her cats are staying with friends in a location that she feels is safer than Sun Valley (the evacuation route out of there is limited). She said, however, that they are still in the thick of things and can smell the smoke. The fire has come up to the major highway in the region but hasn’t crossed it. So glad to know that she’s safe – but this is far from over, and a “wrong move” on the part of the fire could still be big trouble. She said she would try to post something if possible, but we need to keep up the good thoughts and prayers for her, the animals, the firefighters, and all those in the region.

This had to be a very frightening experience for this poor horse. So glad he is now in a good home and doing well. For every horse saved there are hundreds upon hundreds taking it’s place and no happy ending for them.
