Sally,
Very heartbreaking to read about this situation for your beloved Sir. I join in prayers for him.

Dear Kathy.Wonderful devotional today. The days of innocence are over children are mini-adults.If you cannot keep the child in your heart, you’re lost.
I lost another UK furbaby on September 11th.Hamish McHamish belonged to St Andrews and the Auld Grey Toon belonged to him.He even had a bronze unveiled in the spring. He was elderly now about15/16 and died peacefully with his mum by his side but he will always belong to the wonderful folk of St Andrews. If you google him you can find out more.RIP.Laddie.
Marty’s out of prison and evil Morty has been caught red-handed!prison food wasn’t too bad though!Poor Mango is sad her mommy is leaving her to go on a vacation, she’s flying to Indiana tomorrow and then she and her friends are meeting up with other bikers in NC for a week but she plans to drive back to NM on her bike!!!Gosh she must a tough cookie!Mommy Renay will be posting on FB but no morning conversations.Mango will miss mommy Judy for sure! She had more gifts yesterday and looked so cute in her polka-dot onesie.Lily is having a great time in Heaven with rivers of gravy and candy.Poor Zoe will have no nails left after the game last night!Have a blessed Sabbath.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
RIP Hamish McHamish. Will definitely read up on him. What a relief that Marty is free! Poor little Mango. Hopefully Mommy Renay will baby her! Safe trip for Mommy Judy. Biking from IN to NM would definitely separate the girl from the women! Sweet Lily has certainly livened things up in heaven. Bless her. Zoe’s mommy sure was diligent posting pics of Zoe during that nail-biting game! Hope she gets some rest today and that her nails grow back soon! Have a blessed Sabbath. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

So sad about Hamish McHamish (what a clever name). Sounds like he had a good life there in St. Andrews, and every one will miss him.

Dear Max.Kingman is doubtful for the QE11 he has a throat infection but the Breeders cup mile might be on his agenda!!Oh,Coolmore are so quiet about yesterday!I’m amazed because you know how Aidan loves to talk!Free the Moose Marty is home!!Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Personally I hope that he stays home. I know that Abdullah likes to support the Breeders Cup, but it is tough on horses to travel that far, especially in recovery from infections. He’s got a lot of horses in the US already. There are many races in the UK and Ireland for Kingman next year. Hope that he stays in training.
Now I know why Joshua Tree is not in Toronto this weekend with Ryan Moore. That race takes place on October 19. Guess that I am not a candidate to be a PA to that horse.
You are right. Aidan loves talking, although I seldom understand what he is saying.
Free the Moose! Beast, hope that the ankle is giving you no trouble. Snake, keep training. Dan, glad that you are working.
Max
Sheena. Just checked. If all things continue as is, they would run Kingman against Danny. If you look at their respective times, it might not be a good idea. Dan has faster times. Other NA mile turf horses have better times. One would also have to consider the effect of Uncle Johnny or Jose against Doyle at Santa Anita. Ascot may be the route to take.

Dear Max.Frankie must have a secret smile on his face because Treve ran such a disappointing 4th to Baltic Baroness today. The betting for the Arc changes yet again. She just hasn’t matured into a top-class 4yr old.Ruler of the World made all the running to win the Prix Foy and who knows may do well in the Arc??Free the Moose.Marty behave!!Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Sorry to hear this. She was such a good 3 year old. Will she still run in the Arc?
Has Marty been sprung from jail?
Free the Moose! B, S D, you boys have a good day. You can put your hooves up. It’s Sunday.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Just realized that I forgot to watch Treve (maybe it’s just as well). Disappointing finish for sure (and for Tapestry too yesterday :-(. Ruler of the World seems to be back though.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena and Max:
Sorry about Treve finishing 4th. Hope she is OK. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. The racing gods spoke about the recent booting. Frankie, not the emu, brought Ruler of the World home in first in decisive fashion in another race. Happy for Frankie.
All Moose in Cheltenham must go free. Beast, Snake and Danny. Lights out.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Happy for Frankie (not the Emu) too. Congrats to him and Ruler. Power Up Dan, CC, PM, Street Cry, Treve, Beholder, Big Trouble, ROC, CDA, Sir, Reilly, Angel and all who are ill or injured. Beast, rest and get well and listen to Max. Snake, be a good boy. Dan, you too. Loose All The Moose!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Another bad day for AOB and Young Joe in the Irish St Leger.Michael Owen’s Brown Panther won by 6 and 1/2 lengths. He and Eye of the Storm set the pace and suddenly the rest of the jockeys realised BP wasn’t going to stop.Leading Light was 2nd and Encke 3rd.Also,Toronado was beaten in the Moulin by Charm Spirit,Ryan and Night of Thunder were 3rd.Someone said on RP that JOB should give up riding! I quite agree Kingman shouldn’t travel to the US there are plenty of races in the UK and Europe he could race in as a 4yr old.
I won’t rest easy until the result on Friday. Her Majesty has spoken”hoping everyone will think very carefully about the future before voting”It’s still too close to call.Marty is home and free now!Free the Moose PUBeast.Sheena
Max
Sheena. I am happy for Ruler, a fine chestnut. The other results are headache producing.
I recall that Juddmonte has a very good miler in Seek Again, another chestnut. He’s already in the US. Not running at Woodbine so that he might take on Dan again in the Shadwell. I think that Kingman is a very good horse, and could well win, as we can see from GG yesterday. It all happens on the day. I just wonder if it’s worth it to the horse to travel over long distances when there are prestige races in the UK. The Champion stake races also pay well.
Was looking at a video of Cecil today. He really knew how to talk in a low key intelligent way about horses. In this interview, he mentioned that Twice Over was his best friend, and a member of his family. I once saw a photo of Cecil kissing TO.
Don’t worry about the referendum results. The real Scottish mavericks voted with their feet long ago and went forth on ships to the ROTW.
Free the wild chestnut. SDB, snoozing on Sunday? Rat Marty, enjoy your freedom but beware that evil rat bro.

Sheena. Sheikhzayedroad just won the Northern Dancer Stakes at Woodbine. Kind of fitting that a Euro horse would win. This is the race that Wigmore Hall won twice. RIP Wiggy.

Max:
My horse Dynamic Sky, who I’ve been following for the past two years, came in a game second at 24-1. I was saying to Rosario through the TV take him back and let him make one run at it (he has a bit of a turn of foot and I knew he could go the distance, but he’s better at closing), even with the objection, the winner deserved the win – he was much the best. RIP Wigmore Hall, your people sure loved you and you’ll be sorely missed :(

Sheena. WOW. Trade Storm with Jamie Spencer just won the Woodbine Mile. I will post the video when available if someone else doesn’t do it first. That is two wins for Simcock. A win and you’re in to the Breeders Cup Mile. Big bucks too. Good idea to travel in his case.
Moosie, look at what can happen. Dan watch out for that horse. Snake and Beast, relax.

Dear Max, Sheena and Z Fans:
Congrats to Trade Storm on his win in the Woodbine mile and to Kaigun and Bobby’s Kitten, second and third. My choice, Lockout, finished sixth. Back to the drawing board. Love and Hugs, JB

Holy Moly – Baby Tapit did it again! We ARE in big trouble. And Trade Storm was on an eleven race losing streak!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.That’s great news. There’s been some criticism of Jamie over here lately. He is a good jockey and will be missed.I wish Moosie realised what he’s missing all that jet-setting lifestyle.I watched the re-play of the Irish Leger,it was so funny to see the other jockeys when they realised they had no hope of catching BP!.Free the Moose Marty behave.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. I’m impressed by Jamie and the horse. Trade Storm had to travel, go into quarantine and adjust to life in Toronto before the race. However, he had the advantage over last year of no Dan, and a track which is very much like what he’s used to running on. All things being relatively equal a top class European horse should win. Wiggy and Joshua Tree loved Woodbine. As I mentioned before, they invested $17 million to make it like a Euro track. It’s the only track in NA other than Belmont which can stage mile and a half races without going over the same ground. Next question will be: is the Storm going to Santa Anita?
Max
Sheena. Here’s the video. Nice win. Take a look at the course. Announcer said that the backstretch is the longest on the continent. Trade Storm seems to be right at home like Joshua Tree and Wiggy. Sad about Wiggy, but he’s free. Sadder about Sir.

Dear Judy:
“Tiny” little Thurzel update! Firstly, bet you slept well after that stirling amount of work at the stable: must admit I find that sort of hard yakka quite satisfying because it has a real purpose to it: just hope Frank appreciated all the activity.
My little girl took up most of my weekend. I’d taken off her heavy winter rug and left her in a cotton one, but the weather forecast for this week is rather nasty with below zero temps and some rain and wind, so wanted to put on her new waterproof medium weight rug. But the boys were playing up something dreadful (think it’s spring) and after wandering around the paddock gave up on Saturday morning. Then returned on Sunday morning – situation interesting with only Red and my girl in the paddock. But even though I caught Red and tied him up outside the gate – she was in a very, very wary mood – think it was because she was unsettled that the other paddock mates had been taken away. So left her and returned in the afternoon. She was wary of treats, so knew something was wrong, so told her I loved her, and would be back. Today (Monday) all her mates, plus an extra were back, and we got assistance from Terry, George and Helen, plus my husband Phil, and managed to get the gear on the little one, who was much more relaxed. The Jeir folk released their horses, and off I went with my girl. But as we went down the hill to the gate the charge of the Light Brigade came galloping behind us – rather disconcerting to say the least, as I was not sure how she would react. But she was perfect, and just looked about, then followed me to the gate, where the new rug was put on, and I turned her out again. She just looks so wonderful galloping up the hill, kicking up her heels, and it’s a joy to see her looking as I leave down the drive. I do feel mean talking about my little girl when poor Sally is in so much pain, but keep praying that since my dream came true, it may happen for Sally and Sir. Love and hugs KathyR
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Sounds like your patience was rewarded KathyR. Wonder where the other horses had gone during your earlier visit? We are all so happy for you. I can’t even imagine having that type of connection with a horse.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
It’s so true, they get in a routine and used to things a certain way and they’re uneasy with change. The herd can really play havoc when trying to take one particular horse out of the paddock. It’s good that you have help doing that. Tiny T will get used to the changes that occur and will be more relaxed with them as they will become a part of a cycle in her life. She was very well behaved with the “Light Brigade” charging from the rear, wasn’t she.
She must have looked magnificent galloping up the hill in the paddock to join her mates again. Nothing more beautiful than a horse in motion. Take care in the cold weather there.
I feel exactly as you do when it comes to talking about my visits with Charlie when Sally is going through this sad experience with Sir. As you are, I’m praying for Sally and Sir and that things turn around and a new, permanent home can be found for him. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
Meant to tell you, yesterday their was a barrel racing competition at the farm. I went to watch for a little while. They had a barbeque grill going with burgers and hot dogs. Frank was in the corner of his pen as close as he could get. I have a close up photo of him checking out the grill.
You’re absolutely correct, I slept very well Saturday night and it is a great feeling to help out and have the barn looking clean and fresh for the horses. Love and Hugs, JB

JudyB. Great photo of Frankie. How’s he settling in? Looks like he’s right at home. Any word on the gender issues?
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
He seems to be doing very well. He’s eating and drinking plenty of water. He is in a pen by himself, but can see the minis next door and the horses in the paddock. Angela told me that she is sure Frank is a male, because that is what the woman who raised him told her. He does make that loud noise once and a while, but not as often as when he first arrived. Could have been the stress of the new surroundings. Still don’t really know why his former owner couldn’t keep him. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Glad to get this good report. Frankie is a lucky bird to find a good home with horses and the caring Angela. Would that we all could do the same.
Moosie, cry freedom! Beast, rest that tootsie. Getting near time to sack out, Danny and Snake. Dream of winning.

September 15 Cherokee Devotional
There are echoes of many things past within each of us.Voices, sounds, thoughts-and only a few that ring clear as the chimes in a clock from many seasons ago. They call us back in persistent flashes of memory, demanding that we recall details, some of them best forgotten. Why do we hear echoes? Perhaps to clarify our feelings, to help us be objective about the present time so that we can correct or delete certain things from our lives. Like the well-fed gi li (dog) turns primitive at the sight of a bone, we sometimes pick up on our own instincts and react before we think. As long as we can adjust and begin to understand our emotional ties, we can understand how others feel and not make them pay for what we hear in our echoes.
I was born upon the prairie, where the wind blew free, and there was nothing to break the light of the sun.

Dear Kathy. We’ve been promised a lovely week over here, an Indian summer!I often think of the ospreys and hope they are safe Glesni must be already back in Africa.Marty looked so cute in his chef’s hat last night,I loved how he was keeping his egg comfy!!Over 12,000 friends now!And Joey over 450,000 his legacy lives on.I didn’t know there was a shortage of IV fluids and 3 litres were donated in Joey’s name. We’ll know the results next Monday.Poor Mango isn’t dealing very well with her mom’s trip but she had a huge parcel yesterday and it’s her birthday on Oct 11th more mail!I had to laugh mom took the dogs out to “go potty” and katy got scared when they heard a coyote peeps were suggesting what she could take out to scare them and Mango says it’s ok mom takes her 45. out with her!!Such a different world from Wales!she must be a good shot after her time in the army.Miss Kitty has lost a friend too.Lovely videos of Miiko.Fubu got to visit Petco over the weekend and not even a doc’s appt.I hope all goes well with Hovis today maybe Sandy will let us know.Have a great day.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.

Dear Sheena,
I think so often of the ospreys. I hope “our little family” is safe. Love Marty’s chef’s hat. The egg looked very cute and well taken care of. Marty is starting a cookie bizness now. So diversified! Yes, Joey’s legacy does live on. I had no idea there was an IV shortage. It will be enlightening to learn the test results next Monday. Poor Mango. I had hoped her mom would baby her. I understand getting frightened by the coyotes’ howling. Very spooky. Nothing a 45 couldn’t deal with, however! lol Sorry for Miss Kitty Face’s loss of her friend. I HAVE MISSED YOU ALL SO MUCH! Why do they put you in the hospital for rest then wake you up every half hour? Now that I have been set free perhaps I can get some rest. I missed all the news. TV in Hosp. dreadful. Wonderful, sweet, considerate staff and I even liked the food. Have more meds to take. Important news was seeing the wonderful photos of PrinZess and Zenny and Coz actually having a timed work at Belmont. I just can’t believe it. Sally B I feel so sympathetic about Dear Sir. You know the owner and she doesn’t seem very reasonable. I know you have been nice but it could be time for a little more public pressure than emotional pressure. We have been kind and accommodating to our new and only neighbors and in return they shot one of my brothers dogs for going onto their property. The problem is their dogs were in our yard and followed them home. My brother didn’t tell me until I was released from hosp. I went to the sheriff this morning. My Jackie missed me madly while I was gone. Cotton wouldn’t speak to me when I got home but she came and slept on my foot. Sorry to go on so long.
