Me, too! Got my email yesterday, too. Thanks so much for making this site a welcoming place to keep up with all things Z! I know it has taken a lot of work and effort on someone’s part to run the Zenyatta.com site, along with the Shop area. Also, I like the format of the Forum as well…I don’t stop by there a lot, but it is so much more organized and seems to be a congenial place these days. Whoever is responsible for all this harmony and keeping things organized, they deserve a huge gold star!!! Hugs to all Team Z and Lane’s End, along with the Mayberrys, who I am guessing will be getting another trainee, our very own Little Red, soon.

Dear Kathy R.I heard Neil Werrett has bought a horse from Middleham park racing in a private deal. He’s called Kool Kompany and the plan is for him to stay with Richard Hannon.I love hearing how the bond is growing between you and your little girl! She’s landed on all 4 hooves!Hugs Sheena.

Dear Sheena:
Heard about the purchase on Skysportsradio this morning – they were unsure whether the horse was to stay in the UK or come to Australia. Like you am feeling very unsettled with the departure of the Osprey family – March can’t come too soon. Just hope St Francis keeps them under his care. Hugs KathyR

Dear Max
I think we are watching the same TV Channel and movies too.
It was such a treat last night happening upon the Horse Whisperer. I want to see it again
Sally B. (Auntie cherishes Z and her young)
Dear Judy Berube; I read about your time with Charlie. It had to be the best time ever!!
What a hoot with Charlie bowing for a stud muffin. hah
Angela is an angel in disguise; a real emu and also a zebra!!?? She really has a big heart.
It must have been meant to be for Charlie to be there because you have the biggest heart too.
hugs, Sally B
I took time to watch Fox news and plenty of memories of Joan Rivers. I really thought she was great, funny and thoroughly likeable!! I think when I first saw her on TV and it may have been on Johnny Carson, I think my mother may have been a bit in shock, but
I thought she was one of a kind cool!
God bless you Joan Rivers; God bless your surviving family.
Sally B

Dear Sally B:
Thank you for your sweet, kind comments. Angela, like you, is one of my Horse Heroes. You, my dear, are the VERY BEST.
I always loved Joan Rivers. She did push the envelope a lot, but her timing and delivery were amazing. We saw her once in Atlantic City and she was hilarious. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Joan Rivers was a rather refined woman with impeccable taste. She was a graduate of Barnard in English and Anthropology. She was obviously well versed in all current events and she knew a great deal about the history of jewellery, such as Faberge eggs. Marylou Whitney also mentioned that Joan loved to go to the races at Saratoga, and went with her to the Kentucky Derby. She liked being in the winner’s circle when Whitney’s horses won. Big loss in many ways. Hope that she did not suffer from that incident. It’s a shock because she was a healthy and vital woman right to her death. RIP Joan Rivers.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
She was an extremely intelligent woman. Her quick wit and comeback lines are a testament to that. Also, she had a great knack for creating fabulous fashionable outfits. She always looked beautiful. When Russ and I saw her in Atlantic City many years ago, I remember thinking how petite she was. She was fashionable and very, very funny then too. Have read she enjoyed the races and Saratoga; something else to like about her. I hope she did not suffer too. So sorry for her daughter and grandson. Love and Hugs, JB
Sally B. (Auntie cherishes Z and her young)
She was an awesome woman and I am glad she enjoyed the horses as well!
It was not just her intelligence and wit, but also her delivery with such expression! I laughed so. hugs, Sally B
Max
JudyB. She was very witty but everything that she said was wise in its own way. She agree that she dressed extremely well. I actually used to listen to her shows from time to time on QVC because she always told interesting stories about her jewellery designs. She knew a lot about the history of jewellery and design. She was also an artist and used to paint with Chuck Windsor. I really thought that she would get over this and make a comeback. My own rule is to never have any surgical procedures outside of a fully equipped hospital. I also never get any anesthesia for dental work. I’d rather just deal with the pain. Don’t take any pain medication either. My preferred therapy method for dental surgery is to eat a lot of ice cream.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
You are so right; she was wise and honest. I have read that she painted and designed her jewelry line. Very creative, indeed. You know, I couldn’t help thinking that if she had been at Mt. Sinai for the throat procedure, might she have had a better chance to survive the cardiac arrest. We’ll never know. Will never be another like her. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. I thought that from the first that I heard the news. In those situations, speed to provide the right kind of care response is imperative. Very very sad. Still in shock. And you are right. She was unique. No one seemed to have a better work ethic. Retirement was just not in her vocabulary.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Oh My Goodness
Rest in Peace Joan Rivers.

I think Charlie needed an extra big hug for his bowing on his knees. Plus of course extra Stud Muffins.
His bow could have brought tears to the eyes.

California Chrome “Alert” This opening weekend at Los Al Chrome is suppose to make an appearance. Heard it on TVG. It is suppose to be this Saturday Sept. 6. I was in another room from the TV so could not hear it good. Maybe I will hear it again or someone else will. Will have to be on the lookout for our boy.

Dear Carol, Sandy, Judy
I heard someone else say it too. So it must be true. He’s suppose to work on the track between one of the races. Sandy so you heard between 3ld and 4th race.
Hope that works out OK. Love Chrome and so hope to see him tomorrow.

Dear Judy:
Rather delightful that Frank is the name of your Emu. We had a country singer called Frankie Davison who penned a crazy song called “I hope your chooks turn into emus and kick your dunny down”. It’s an Aussie bad luck wish, in a very silly way. (Translation: chooks = chickens, and dunny = outside toilet/outhouse). All this with apologies to the one and only great Terry, who we all miss. Hugs KathyR
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
This is too funny. Translation: Hope your chickens turn into emus and kick your outhouse down! Sounds like one of TC’s Redneck jokes. He would love that. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Zenyatta family: little Thurzel update (can’t remember what number)
Well, even with the Judy muffins, the little girl was doing a Margaret Thatcher – that is not for turning. She was in a very independent mood, refusing to come to accept her treat, and hiding between her two pesky blokes, Red and Leo. Decided the better course of valour was to retreat and let her maybe have a snooze in the sun. Will return on Sunday to take up the good fight – that is some grooming, including feet, and changing her rug and bib. Did remind her that we’ve got the rest of our lives, and I can be patient, even if it’s a little disappointing. Think she needs lessons from Charlie! Maybe she’s channeling the Beast? I certainly hope not Frank. Hugs KathyR
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
Love your post. Little Thurzel certainly has a DIVA attitude; reminds me of Hudson. Hudson, Charlie (when he’s being stubborn), Frank and The Beast; not the best role models. Hoping the stud muffins work and Little T looks forward to a groom and clean rug and bib on Sunday. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
KathyR. Little setbacks like this are to be expected. She’ll come around. Don’t give up. The Beast has never been known to refuse a meal. That is one reason why he is so tiny. Escaping is another matter.
Free the Moose. Beast, counting the days. 57. Snake, maybe an early night. Danny, the champ is back.

Judy and GBB,
I just saw that on Bloodhorse.com. I am getting depressed as my favorites are dropping like flies. PM injured and retired, Muchie injured and retired and Lea is sick. Guess I was lucky for all these boys to race beyond 3 years old. Love Dan, of course, but he is 7. Hopefully, Coz, Jess’s Dream and Pennmarydell (if he ever gets to the races) will turn out to be good runners.
With my luck think perhaps I should let the owners and trainers know that I can be paid not to like their horses!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
I did not know that Lea was ill again and now Patti has left a post below that Street Cry is suffering from a neurological problem. I’m heartsick. Love and Hugs, JB
Mary Margaret in Georgia
So glad PM’s injury was discovered before something terrible happened. I have routed for him since I first saw him on the TC trail. I felt something was wrong when he wasn’t running very well, my gut feeling. His SC home is only an hour from me so I really feel like I need to root for the home guy. But glad he will continue in a new career and look for his babies to run.
Anyhow, hope everyone has a safe, healthy, and happy weekend.

Hoping too for a complete recovery for PM and a happy, healthy life. Love and Hugs, JB

JudyB. I think that he should come home to Kentucky. Don’t like this idea of shuttling horses over these long distances to foreign lands. Street Cry has enough interested mares in NA. Give the guy a break.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
I absolutely agree with you. Don’t like it either. Always worry about Bernie too. No disrespect intended for the farms they shuttle to; I just don’t like it. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Read all of those articles about Street Cry. Very worrying. Darley will give him the best of care, but the best of care for these hoof issues is in the US. Wish that he was back home. I love this horse. He won the Stephen Foster and of course he is Z’s daddy. Get well soon, Street Cry.
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Max and Judy,
I agree about shuttling horses, have said it all along, and when people say they should send Zenny to Frankel I shudder. No way would I ever consider sending her anywhere overseas. hugs
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
Be careful what you wish for; you might get it. If horses didn’t travel, then Zenyatta herself would never have been born. Street Cry was foaled in Ireland. If he’d stayed there–no Zenyatta. And HIS sire was foaled in Great Britain, so either he traveled or Street Cry’s dam did. Not to mention other horses in her pedigree such as Forli, the great Argentine import. The pedigrees of most top horses are international.
LauraJ (Cincinnati, OH)
Sorry–meant to say that Street Cry’s sire Machiavellian was foaled in the US. His dam was British.
Ann NC
Power Up, Street Cry. Will say an extra prayer tonight.
