Expensive Mare at Center of Legal Dispute
By Ron Mitchell The Blood-Horse Updated: Tuesday, June 4, 2013 5:36 PM
A leading sales agency and three horse owners continue to wrangle with another prominent breeder over the November 2011, $2.1 million sale of the mare Love Me Only, as the purchaser alleges fraud by the consignors.
At issue is the purchase by Summer Wind Farm of Love Me Only, a half sister to leading sire Giant’s Causeway , from Eaton Sales’ consignment to the 2011 Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Eaton consigned the mare on behalf of Orpendale, Chelston Ireland, and Wynatt. The mare was at Ashford Stud, one of North America’s premier breeding and stallion operations, for six weeks prior to her sale at Keeneland. Also named as a defendant in the suit is Bemak, doing business as Ashford.

Poor baby!
Ummmm, chronic is the key word here.
Poor baby!
Pati-10 days to graduation
Ugh, chronic laminitis. I can only imagine the pain this must cause and to get it back over and over again? Poor poor mare. I hope that her care doesn’t get lost in this court shuffle and the other halalbaloo. I hope we get updates on her condition. I care more for that than the court proceedings to be quite honest. Never cared for court proceedings.

Post Position Draw….Belmont Park….10 am
Bummers I’ll be at work. Can’t wait to find out Who Goes, Who Doesn’t….What Post they draw
If Vyjack draws the outside again oh Jeez that means my outside jinx is continuing..
Watch out Orfevre we need this Jinx to stop……..I’m just being silly but, I’ve had a string of my favorites getting the outside lots in the last year.
OK i’m being positive now. They are going to draw good posts positions for the horse
Good Luck to everyone.
And Yeah, I know VyJack really needs a good position…..Lots O Love

Dear Peggy:
Hope your Vyjack draws a good post. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia, (NY, NY, Can't wait for Saturday)
Dear Judy,
I do hope he does good. Just love his fiesty antics. Although, I do hope he doesn’t kick a fence again.
Be sure to watch the post draw in the morning.

Last I saw, Vyjack looked spectacular in workouts. Barbara Livingston captured a picture of him that was breath taking! I’ll find it for you and post it.

Dear Ann,
Yes it is contageous. I hope Vyjack does good.
Terry Crow
I believe that the Kentucky Derby was the first race Vyjack had run outside of New York. Expect a big turnaround in the Belmont.
Terry Crow
The distance of the Belmont downgrades the importance of post positions.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
Good point, Terry.
Peggy (N) South Georgia, (NY, NY, Can't wait for Saturday)
Dear Terry
Yeah, I think the derby was the only time he had been out of New York. I checked at about ll this morning for the post position and was so scared to look. I was thinking oh no not at the bottom again. Well, we did a little better this time. I so hope your right about the downgrade . I’m pulling for Him, Unlimited Budget and Revolutionary.. Can’t wait till Saturday.
Terry Crow
Those are three good ones that all have a chance. They will all have to do some running to defeat Orb. But, As Judy B would say, even when you know, you never know. That;s what we all thought before the Preakness.

Thank you Keta for the info. I am glad to see Orb in the 5th position instead of #1 by the rail as last time.
If Rosie N is riding Unlimited Budget, Gary Stevens, Oxbow, Orb will, I hope, have a big experienced jockey who knows the track. I had heard Orb was possibly having a different jockey for the Belmont. Any one know who?? I have missed several days here and it is hard to catch up. Thanks
hugs, Sally B
Terry Crow
Sally-Rosaio will be the rider and is more than capable. If you saw the Met Mile, you know he can ride at Belmont. I’ll just add this–I’ve never seen a jockey yet who can ride faster than a horse can run.

Sally Blank (cherish Z for my lifetime)
So true Terry!! My comment was made because of the Preakness. I believed just as Shug in so many words said, that Orb was kept in the deeper part of the track. Gary Stevens knew that.
Sally B
Terry Crow
Sally-Your points are well taken.
Pati-10 days to graduation
I agree on the Orb points. I was heart broken when he got the rail and then was never moved to the outside, which is obviously where he likes to be. I hope that he gets his ride this time around. No Triple Crown, but I still believe in my Orb!
Terry Crow
Agree. Orb looks like the winner as the new shooters are not that impressive. Freedom Child is a front running type who will probably use a lot of energy to clear.
Terry Crow
Thanks, Keta. Good info here.

Terry Crow
I had not heard that before. The only nickname that I was familiar with for Pimlico was old Hilltop. It is a fact that the Belmont is the oldest of the triple crown races with the Preakness being second.
Ann NC
TC, yes,Old Hilltop is the name for, Pimlico. Hi- Ho was used as a catchy little phrase/jingle to attract fans. Sorry, I used the wrong word, not motto.
Hi-Ho was printed on buttons, bumper stickers and such. If the phone rang and someone said, Hi-Ho, that meant, let’s go to the races!
Terry Crow
Ann-Thanks for this bit of info. Sounds a little like the motto Go Baby Go that racing was using a while back. HI-Ho, everybody.

Dear Friends, here’s a birthday poem for Stacy Ferris, who has posted only a little here, but who will post more in the future, I hope. (PS. Equi-Army members got a slightly longer version (if you can believe it!) of the poem.
A Birthday Poem for Stacy Ferris
(June 6, 2013)
Home once was Ontario,
Beyond the Great Lakes,
But needing herself to extricate
From love-life strife,
Stacy for sanity’s sake
The decision did make
To sally forth
From the North
And south to go
To try out life
In the States.
Her new career arc
Would take her to Delaware Park
And other race tracks
A life with horses to start.
From early childhood,
Such a life had been her dream,
But she’d been sadly plagued
By a debilitating allergy—
What a horrid malady!
Contact with horses she’d never withstood
Without getting asthma attacks,
So her dream had been delayed.
Those days lay now all in the past–
At last at the track
And no longer allergic,
Stacy with horses was wondrously synergic
As energy from them to her and back
In a magical circuit did flow,
And she did know
A bond of deep fondness.
’Twas at Belmont she first could be found
Cooling hot horses down.
From there rapidly her career did progress,
Till now, as manager of a thirty-acre racing farm,
Stacy knows both the charm
And also the stress
Of living her dream
On the Thoroughbred scene.
For a short time in between
She was able
In partnership to start
Her own Full Heart Racing Stable,
Her silks, milky white
With a brilliant red heart
Right in the center,
As you may have guessed.
When that partnership split apart,
Her career a new phase did enter
At the Iwinski Stable there in Delaware.
Stacy felt especially blessed
When the good Lord thither sent her
The talented filly, then mare,
MyHeartSezYes,
Who seemed by her very name
For Stacy ordained.
In the barn she went by Saucey,
For she could be kind of bossy
And had a ’tude
Which was at times just a bit rude.
But in Stacy’s care
The filly did flourish
For Stacy her with the best did nourish
And she Saucey’s coat did burnish
Till it was brilliantly glossy
And shone so bright in the sun
That Stacy with her frequently won
Awards for Groom of the Week.
Saucey was a bit brash,
It’s true,
But she sure had what it does take
A winning sprinter to make.
In six allowance races
Saucey did thrash
All who dared her to face
And she was game enough at five the same to do
In the Late Bloomer Stakes.
She had, as I’ve heard,
An eight-race streak
Where she finished second or first or (once) third.
She was quite the bomb,
Zooming along strong
Over six furlongs!
And Stacy felt herself most lucky
For Saucey lent her life a special luster,
As did too her spunky lead pony, Buster.
Then came the dark day
When Saucey was sent away,
Trailered off to Kentucky
A new career as a mom
In Adena Springs to start.
When Saucey did depart,
’Twas like a dagger
In Stacy’s heart.
Stacy’s spirits under the blow
Did stagger
And she didn’t quite know
How she onward would go.
She began to feel more composed
When she did arrange
Her employment to change
And up the ladder rose
As assistant to Robert Siravo.
Indeed Stacy’s mind
Felt far less addled
When she in a couple months’ time,
Though a beginner,
In the paddock saddled
The eventual winner,
Scooby Dooby Do–
In the winner’s circle photo
Stacy sure doesn’t look blue!
Also seeing her through,
Was her minpin Maxine,
Who always could Stacy beguile
And make her smile
Since the moment Maxine
First was by Stacy seen–
It happened like this:
Stacy did not intend
A dog to acquire,
She was just accompanying her friend,
Margaret Kiss,
Who was going to pick from a litter.
But Stacy spied one small pup,
Tan and black,
Who hung back
And by herself in the corner huddled.
In a moment inspired
By the Divine,
Stacy picked the little one up
For a cuddle,
And as they snuggled,
Joy within Stacy bubbled.
Their spirits commenced to intertwine
In a sacred love knot,
And Stacy knew on the spot
She would buy her.
’Twas thus that Fate
Stepped in
Back in 1998
To partner Stacy up
With that little minpin pup.
From then on, for nearly fourteen years,
The two joined lives led
From morning till bed.
Our Stacy, for whom life had been muddled
And from time to time still was troubled,
For Maxine’s sake
Found the will to shape up
And better decisions to make,
Including in the end
That most difficult one,
Which always brings tears,
When the loved pet’s life is done.
……………………………………………………………
As part of her current farm life,
Stacy has been midwife
To fifty-some Thoroughbred foals,
Fulfilling her lifelong goals,
And living her dream, it would seem,
Though managing a Thoroughbred farm
Is often a most grueling regime.
She teaches deportment to each young’un–
Though they’re all full of charm,
A “bad ’un” can do you harm!–
And she follows their careers
As off they go to run.
Clear over here
We can hear
Her loud cheers
When they come in number one!
Yes, our dear Stace’
Their careers does trace
And should they any trouble face
When their time
On the track is done,
She remains for them a lifeline,
And for some,
She is their only one.
Take Hot Under Pressure:
Stacy her “Hoot” did treasure
From day one;
She’d been present
At his birth
And him did bless
With a soft caress
In his first minutes on Earth.
His dam, Stolen Command,
Did not it at all resent
As Hoot his head bent
Toward Stacy’s chest
And next to her did rest.
Stacy, wasn’t it all so grand
Extending that welcoming hand?
But at the end of the second year
Of Hoot’s racing career,
While he was still just three,
You began to fear
That a horrible fate for him was near,
So you marshaled the forces
Of EquiArmy
To change the future course
Of this beloved horse
For the better
And him to unfetter
From his stint
With owner/trainer Sipp,
That known miscreant.
We hustled to ransom
Hoot the Handsome,
Who now with renewed pride
Takes the good life in stride
With our dear Diana by his side.
Diana looks forward to the date
When she Hoot
Can ride astride,
And I bet he too,
Confident in his good fate,
Does those rides
Happily anticipate.
And it’s not only Hoot,
But others, like Saucey, to boot,
For whom Stacy’s been there
When life’s wear and tear
Has meant
They were in need of retirement.
Yes, Saucey too,
Her broodmare years most likely through,
Now with Stacy’s aid
The transition has made
To a forever home in Tucson.
There Sauce’ has grown quite mellow,
’Specially when the sun
Burns hot and yellow,
Promoting her reform.
No more does Saucey perform
Her brilliant race dash
To win cold cash
For those who did on her gamble.
Now she does comfortably amble–
At a slower pace,
There’s no reason to hurry,
This isn’t a race–
To the water trough
For a refreshing face splash
And then competes in a friendly splash-off
With her companion Surrey.
……………………………………………………….…..
Now our dear Stacy too finds life good–
She knows the joys
And the occasional strife
Of motherhood.
She has two lovely girls, Jordyn and Amanda,
And is gramma
To Madison and four boys,
Whom she loves to the moon and back,
And is only sad
She them not more often can see.
With her adored dad,
She fortunately
Has found
They can keep in touch via text.
And next,
She’s glad
To have left the track
And yet to be
With horses and dogs all around.
Dear Stace,
We do you and your affinity
For four-footed creatures
Warmly embrace.
Dearest Stacy, you’re the best!
Among your many valued features,
Kindness and zest
Rank at the top.
We you do love and esteem
And hope you’ll never stop
Holding fast to each dream—
And may they all for you come true!
And last, to finish,
Today we especially do wish
For you a blast
With a sweet treat:
An extra large dish
Of Publix ice cream
(Make it your favorite, Chocolate Trinity,
The one yummy enough for the Divinity!)
Happy birthday, Stacy, and many, many more!
Ann NC

Trina,
Liddy is going to be a yearling on June the 17th, five days after my birthday, and would it be too much to ask for you to do a little poem for her too? She likes listening to things being read and told to her.
About this poem: perfect. Hoof stamp of approval!
Terry Crow
Perhaps Liddy could call Trina like Barnaby does. Pati-Let me be the first to wish a happy birthday to a remarkable young woman. I have to do it this way as I do not have Trina’s ability with the written word.
Pati-9 Days to Graduation
@Terry
One has not a need for a way with words to make another’s day if one remembers about the day to begin with.
Everyone’s birthday/well wishes mean a lot to me. I don’t need a poem or a big paragraph if someone isn’t an artist like our Trina, or any of the other word artists we have here. I also don’t want a present if one cannot be afforded; just remembering about the day is good enough for me. Just a piece of cake and a good time with friends is fine by me. :-)
