Cornell horse hospital set for closed Elmont site
By SCOTT EIDLER Newsday December 3, 2013 9:43 PM
A happy ending may be in store for the troubled Ruffian Equine Medical Center after Cornell University announced Tuesday it will establish a horse hospital on the closed Elmont site.
The university’s veterinary college has signed a lease-buy agreement with Racebrook Capital Advisors LLC to establish the Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialists, which will be a specialty, referral and emergency care hospital, university officials said.
The hospital is expected to open April 1 and will offer elective equine specialty services to horses that are referred by attending veterinarians. By spring 2015, full emergency and critical-care services will be offered, university officials said.

Dear Terry Crow,
I left a response to your post about Sir Winston on page 7 of the “Cozmic One at Mayberry Farm” site.
These multiple sites are a bit confusing — thought the Shop entries were centered on the items for sale at the Shop and general postings appeared on the most recent regular site. I will go with the flow, however.
Hugs
Terry Crow
Marshall-Thanks for the heads-up. You are right, these multiple blog entries are a bit confusing. I tend to stick with the regular blog when stuff like Zenyatta gifts are posted.
Terry Crow
Marshall-I just reviewed your comments on the other blog. Concur with your opinion of Sir Winston. As for your opinion of me, to make the comparison you did is quite flattering. Thank you. These multiple blog entries are a problem. Can all of us “regulars” agree on which type of blog we will be contributing to? or on, for that matter.

@Sue Fredrick–I agree with you about Honor Code. He is jaw-dropping. Gorgeous.
@Vamp–thank you so much for the good wishes.
@Sue Noel–I must have missed you because I saw something about Barnaby. I will go back and look. Thanks! Hugs to all.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@Sue Noel–I had to laugh so hard at your description of Barnaby seeing the trailer. Has he been talking to our Money? We’ll have to take their cell phones away. I am so glad he and Traveller have such comfortable surroundings. It is so important that they feel safe.
And thank you for the good wishes. I do remember it was Marlene Dodge who was instrumental in your and Barnaby’s “match made in Heaven”.

Delrene in Carlsbad, Ca.
What a wonderful Christmas wish list!!! Thank you so much I love all the gift ideas. The photographs are just beautiful. My wish would be that all the rescue groups get generous donations this year. They all do such good work. The holidays can be tough for the animals in shelters and rescue and foster care. Zenyatta fans are the best when it comes to doing good works and helping out those who cannot speak for themselves.
All one has to do is read this blog and know there are so many giving souls.
Thanks to all who help make this such an enjoyable place to come and enjoy Zenyatta’s world.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Agree 100%, Delrene!

Smoke rises from the river bottom where pecan groves have been cleared to make ready for harvest. Fragrant air moves up gently and hangs like a blue curtain among the tallest trees
Huge bales of gold-colored hay dot the meadows and suggest that one or two hard workers have a harvest. But the harvest is for everyone, according to what has been planted.
Seedtime and harvest also extend to what we have planted in thought, word, and action. The sower plants a word and it comes up in many different forms: hate, love, peace, patience. So be careful what you sow, because that is what you will reap.
The mockingbird said that it would take overnight to give them different languages. The mockingbird asked the chief if he would like to speak some other different language, but the chief said he would rather keep his own language.

BGG, I am so happy to hear that. He is still a young horse and seems to be healthy. I was worried about Muchie going to stud and having to try and find another one to love on the track.

@ Sandy!!! Hooray!!! The package IS here!! I was just not looking for something from Walgreens–was checking for YOUR address. Went through everything this morning and lo and behold–there it was!!! Oh boy–what great and fun photos!!! It’s a great format too–can keep it in my purse for awhile and show everyone all the pics. Just LOVE the sequence with Lava Man!!Wasn’t he just too much fun?? My favorite thing was how much he reminds me of Barnaby–that same confidence and certainty that he is special and that we had all better know it! THANK YOU bunches and bunches for this wonderful treat!!! A truly great reminder of a magical weekend!
@ Sheena-You would love it here—if the lottery hits me,I want to have a Zster party here and fly everyone who wants to come out here–wouldn’t that be fun?? Then Barnaby and Traveller could meet you all in person!!
@ Barbara–It really WAS funny to see the “oh no” expression on his face! Normally,he is fine with loading up and hops right in (which he actually DID when we got him TO the trailer), but when he first saw it,he was NOT about to leave. I really DO get a kick out of how smart he is–you can just see the wheels turning in his head when he is reasoning things out!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Whew! Sorry I forgot to tell you who the shipper was, but so glad to know that it arrived! Have fun showing your friends :-)

Thanks, Sue! I went back and found the Barnaby & Traveller update, as I don’t get here every day. It’s great being able to picture the whole thing, from your descriptions. And especially nice they’ve got a good layer of sawdust to lie in. Also, thanks for your phone message, I don’t know if you got my email about it — it was so nice to come home to on Sunday.

Yippee!!! Congrats to Mucho Macho Man and his team. I have rooted for you since the first time I saw you in the Kentucky Derby. I wish you all the best of luck. I’ll be watching for you. Just like I watched for Zenyatta so many moons ago, miss her glorius days of running. Stay safe & health everyone.

British trainer Gerard Butler has been banned for 5 years by the BHA for using an anabolic steroid called stanozolol on 9 of his horses, even injecting them himself. He says he’s inconsolable.I have no sympathy.hugs Sheena
Marshall (NC broad)
Dear Sheena,
I stand with you in the unsympathetic section with regard to Mr. Butler. This was inexcusable and SO unnecessary.
Love hearing from you — would like to visit Wales someday!

Sheena, stanozolol is the same drug that Ben Johnson was banned for using in the 1988 Olympics and ’87 World Championships. And rightly so.
Terry Crow
I remember the scandal about Ben Johnson. Those Olympic Games were the first after the 84 ones in Los Angeles. Had no idea this was the same stuff. A lifetime ban would not have been unreasonable. Thanks for the info, Vicki.

2 million Facebook, Gmail and Twitter passwords stolen in massive hack
By Jose Pagliery (CNNMoney) December 4, 2013: 4:39 PM ET
Hackers have stolen usernames and passwords for nearly two million accounts at Facebook, Google, Twitter, Yahoo and others, according to a report released this week.
The massive data breach was a result of keylogging software maliciously installed on an untold number of computers around the world, researchers at cybersecurity firm Trustwave said. The virus was capturing log-in credentials for key websites over the past month and sending those usernames and passwords to a server controlled by the hackers.

Even with free choice, each of us has a tomorrow for which we are responsible. Never believe for a moment that you are free to meander across the world at random without influencing anything and anyone. No matter how misguided you may have been in the past, you have sensed there is something greater that loves and tries to help. Do not cut yourself off from Spirit help.
Emerson said there is no knowledge that is not power. Know that you have power, not over others but over yourself. If you believe you can overcome anything, you can overcome anything. Trust yourself and trust the Spirit to help you do what you were meant to do.

Good morning, all:
I just received a plea from Diane Lowery in Florida. She runs the rescue where Sweet Mary and Capona are living. With the economy as it is, adoptions are way down, and they are having a hard time making ends meet. Many rescues are facing hard times. I’m sending a small check, and if anyone can help, it would be most appreciated. Her website is http://www.panhandleequinerescue.org. Love and thanks to any who can send even a tiny bit.

This is a good story of a retired TB mare, who found the right home. She’s even competing at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.

Sandy. I went to the Fair website and checked the competition. And there was Mocha’s name, Aramanthine. I was proud for her and Stephanie. This is a good story.

Dear Max Great link.Used to love watching Her Majesty riding side saddle at her birthday parade years ago.Did you hear SS is out of the Tingle creek, he’s not 100%,such a shame.Wonder what plans Moosie has now ?Scotland has taken a battering today with the storm there’s a tidal surge along the eastern coast of England no.We were very fortunate in the south west.hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. I remember The Queen riding side saddle on Burmese, a horse given to her by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. She loved that black beauty of a horse. All the RCMP horses are black. The RCMP have given other horses to her, such as George. No doubt he is called Bruce by those who know him.
I’m sorry for SS but this might be the racing gods telling Moose that it’s time to move. Go Moosie!
Sorry also to hear about the land of my ancestors. We’re a tough lot and they will pull through.
