A lot of discussion whether Bullpit should’ve run on Saturday in race 1 at Morphettville.

Dear Bluegrass Girl:
Pretty amazing that he wasn’t injured after getting both legs over the barrier – was also surprised that he was started. Another fuss at Morphettville was the decision to run Driefontein – she spins her wheels in the wet, and the track was not suited to her, but the word is that the owners requested that Gai start her. Personally, only had eyes for Barbie. Hugs KathyR

Judy, I really enjoyed the race. PM just looked like he was out for a gallop. Since Lea and Muchie seem to be out of the picture for awhile, I am on the PM train. Lea had an infection and I can’t find out more about him. Muchie says he is just laying low for some time which sounds a bit ominous to me.
Good luck to California Chrome on Saturday. Must confess I was not a believer until after the Derby. Still think Vicar & Rosie could have done much better out of that horrible post 1.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Will see if I can find anything recent on Lea and MMM. Palace Malice and JV looked like they were having so much fun. Rooting for CC on Saturday. Yes, tough post for Vicar and Rosie in the Derby. Love and Hugs, JB

Country people do not find it strange to hear the pond is turning over. They know it is not doing a flip but everything that has fallen in it suddenly comes to the top. It is nature’s way of cleaning house. It isn’t pretty, but it does work. The whole pond of human affairs needs to turn over at times. When everything seems to happen at once, friends disagree, and co-workers are suddenly mired in stuff from the bottom of the pond, it is time to clean house. It isn’t always u wo du hi, beautiful or pretty, but it does work. The best part is that it doesn’t last long. Everything rights itself with time-for a while. It helps to know that when something unclean falls in the water, eventually the pond will turn over to get rid of it. It just takes time.
We took an oath not to do any wrong to each other or to scheme against each other.

Good morning, all. Also love the name Fiftyshadesofhay. Way to go, girl.

Barbara-For some reason, I was not aware of Benet’s poem about Robert E. Lee. Lee is sort of a hero of mine so I am unusually critical of anything written about him. Thank you so much for informing me of this poem. Short, but to the point. It would be a fitting epitaph for a great man.

Good morning to everyone, especially you, Zenny, and your beautiful foal. We just got back from 3 weeks on the road in our RV – California (we attend a lectureship there every year at Pepperdine U) and then to Utah and Arizona. Up in Santa Fe on our way home we got the great news that the Horse slaughterhouse in New Mexico has been closed ‘for good’. Thanks to everyone here on Zenny’s website that wrote/called to help make this happen. Our Governor Martinez and former governor Richardson worked especially hard and tenaciously to help close this down. Especially, thank you to everyone who is involved in rescuing these beautiful horses (and other animals). This is an amazing fan family that you have, Zenny. It is so very wonderful to come home and catch up with your ‘family’ news. Wish I could meet everyone in person.
With love, Elizabeth
PS It was so hard to not have time to check the internet the past 3 weeks, Zenny, and hear all about your new baby girl and your ‘boys’. Will take a week to catch up! Belated Happy Mothers Day to You, Queen Z! And also Happy Mothers Day to all Moms here on Zenyatta’s webisite.

I am still mad at Richardson for not pardoning Billy The Kid when he had the chance.

Dear Kathy.Much better weather here today and promises warmer by the end of the week! There’s a programme on ITV Cymru on Friday about our Dyfi Ospreys, should be good, everything quiet there. All our furbabies had a great Mudder’s day,Marty even cut short his trip to Australia to return home, love his dad’s message.Zoe looked so cute visiting all her patients and delivering her cards.I found Miss Kitty she is adorable but what on earth happened to poor Russell in the video,I pray no human hurt him.We Taureans,as I’m sure you know, are an earth sign so I expect that’s why we love the natural world but everyone beware of our temper!!!!As for Boo and Buddy what else is left to say!Did you see the cute video on Joey’s page of Coco and Rosy I LOVE hearing a cat purring.Have a great week.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I’m glad your weather is better now. I’ll be anxious to hear about the osprey program.
Looks like Marty munched his way through Mudder’s Day. It looks like he pretty much has some of everything his “parents” eat. Too funny! Zoe is an adorable little girl. A perfect therapy dog! Seems Russel survived a house fire. Poor little boy. You wouldn’t know you were looking at a cat. The video of Coco and Rosy was SO SWSEET! Once again, a mother’s love. We should be seeing another fashion shot of Boo in some shades and an adorable outfit. I think they do that on Mondays. Have a great day and week. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Dear Sheena,
Just checked, they were supposed to do the fashion shot yesterday…”sunniesundays.” Maybe we won’t get that this week. Darn!

California Chrome Gallops, Heads to Pimlico;
Bayern Works and Ria Antonia Confirmed for Preakness
by Gary Yunt | Churchill Downs Communications | 05/12/2014
Kentucky Derby (Grade 1) winner California Chrome completed the Churchill Downs portion of his training for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes (GI) by galloping 1 ¼ miles early Monday morning with Willie Delgado aboard.
“Everything is perfect. I couldn’t ask for anything more,” said Alan Sherman, assistant to his father Art Sherman, of the colt’s stay in Louisville following his victory in the May 3 Run for the Roses. “He lost a little weight after the race, but put it all back on quickly.”

Terry Crow
Nothing against Tom Amoss, but why is his filly running in the Preakness? I doubt that it was his idea. It isn’t like she was barely beaten in the Kentucky Oaks and the quick turn around problem won’t do her any good. Maybe she just didn’t like Churchill Downs. A lot of horses don’t. But, she hasn’t exactly been a world beater among the fillies.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear TC GP:
I am wondering the same thing. Like this filly a lot and not sure they are doing what’s best for her. Love and Hugs, JB

Calvin Borel to ride filly Ria Antonia in Saturday’s Preakness Stakes
By Jerry Bossert / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS / Monday, May 12, 2014
The Preakness field will include a filly as the connections of Ria Antonia announced on Monday she will start against the boys in Saturday’s middle jewel of the Triple Crown.
“She had a nice work yesterday (:47.60 for a half-mile with Borel up) and looks good today,” trainer Tom Amoss said from Churchill Downs. “We have a healthy, sound horse and we are ready to roll the dice.”
Ria Antonia finished sixth in the Kentucky Oaks on May 2 and joined the Amoss barn three days later.

California Chrome’s success has Harris Farms fingerprints
Jennie Rees, USA TODAY Sports May 12, 2014
It was mid-afternoon in Coalinga, Calif., and 30 people jammed into a conference room best suited for eight.
The array of horse handlers, farm maintenance and office staff at Harris Farms huddled around the television. They anxiously waited to see the chestnut colt they had raised since birth on America’s grandest racing stage, the Kentucky Derby.

Thankyou so much Sue C. It really means so much to me right now as my son, Ryan, the greatest guy in the world will marry this May 17th for the first time. He has always been a special son, full of humor and fun. He gave me a very sweet loving Mothers Day card. Have you heard any news if there are any Mare’s in foal to Orfevre. I just sent an email to part of the Shadai Stallion Station organization. Don’t know for sure if it was the right place. I got an email back from them but it was just something they wanted me to read about thestallions there and Orfevre was one of them, but nothing real current personal about him.
Wednesday is his birthday May l4 . Told them I sure would like to hear any news on him.

Dear Terry & Max
You guys had recently been talking about Southern mansions. Well a girl I work with has just been telling me about The Olde Pink House in Savannah Ga. It is really a restaurant in the oldest house I believe in Savannah. She told me that she just loved the food there. I have not tried it but I want to go.
There is a down side to this though, They say the house is haunted.
Something about the original lady that was the owner with her husband. She found out her husband had girlfriends. I guess her unfriendly spirit is still in the house.
Wow. I

Praise for the Kentucky Derby:
Have just heard Terry Kennedy, who is co-compere on Skysportsradio commenting on his return from a trip to California, Kentucky and New York. TK (as he’s known to listeners) gave the Derby an 11 out of 10. He was really impressed with the crowds, their enthusiasm, the organisation and the racing, so take a bow people, because TK is a pretty picky individual. Cheers, KathyR.

What a quirky guy, CC, backing onto the plane, off the plane, onto the vans, off the vans.
Guess he likes presenting his best side first? Anyway, shows how much he trusts his team!

He is quirky that way. Apparently he will load onto vans and planes head first, but has to be backed off. If he sees a ramp with a downward slope, he wants to jump it. Chromie however looks pretty impressive from all angles. He might have a jump career in the future.
