Have all of you made your Belmont picks yet? Wish that MS and Omaha Beach were in it. But I gotta do my “heart” pick thing and go with WOW and Tax. Both out of Claiborne stallions and Tax is partially owned by Muchie’s owners. It I were to bet, could not pass up Tacitus.
Belmont has some great racing on Saturday. Nice big purses and top notch horses. Thunder Snow is going to be in the mile race.
Hope you all are doing well and enjoying the weather. It has finally stopped raining in Indy for a few days.
Galileo has sired his 1,400th winner. What more can you say about this extraordinary stallion.
Another horse has died whilst training at SA.A 2yr old called Derby River suffered a shoulder injury and was euthanised yesterday.RIP
Very wet here today stay safe bobs.
Late with Hovis mum is in the USA!!
I feel so sorry for our birds today it has rained non stop.Monty has managed to keep his bobs well fed though.Hopefully it will ease off soon.
Dear Judy. Now the rain seems to have eased a little but more expected.Trooping the Colour tomorrow. Her Majesty has had a busy week.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
Yes, her Majesty has done well. Glad the rain has eased some; better weather tomorrow hopefully. Gidu won the 6th at Belmont today; Papa Frankel will be proud. He’s a gorgeous Gray. Love and Hugs, JB, LM and all the Sweeties
Sooo, Sir Winston won the Belmont, and good job, indeed. However, he solidly interfered with (of all horses!!) War of Will. I don’t begrudge him his victory one little bit, but wow.–it makes the KD ever so much more painful.
Will be interesting to see who gets Eclipse award for best 3 year old of 2019. . Right now, MAX has my vote. Guess this Summer’s races may be the true test. Love and Hugs, JB
Congrats to Sir Winston on his win in the Belmont Stakes. Nice 2nd and 3rd by Tacitus and Joevia too. Watched the races from Belmont all day and thankfully, everyone appears to have come back safely. Love and Hugs, JB
Yes, hearty Congratulations to Sir Winston on winning the Belmont Stakes! As Sheena noted, very appropriate for the D-Day anniversary week. A very good race, and it looks as though everyone finished safely, thank goodness. Congrats to Tacitus and Joevia, too.
It seems to me that NBC didn’t broadcast as much of the undercard races this year as they did in previous years. There was nothing on NBCSN today nor was there anything yesterday. I felt a little short-changed during the Preakness, also. Coverage of Belmont started at 4PM on NBC. However, I enjoyed watching what was available.
I watched all the races on my computer. Yes, strange there wasn’t more on NBC. Wonder if Fox Sports covered it. I don’t have cable any more, but I do have access to the races on my PC. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy,
I forgot about Fox Sports — Rats!
Only one of the Fox Sports channels is listed in my channel guide, but I can get the other one, too. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to check channel 400 or 401. FSCR1 (400) is listed and did not have horse racing Saturday, but I forgot about FS2 (401). I am so accustomed to NBCSN having the early undercard races before handing off to the local NBC station for the last 3 or 4 races (including the major race). Oh well, maybe next year.
Thanks!
Hugs and Love

Such a joy to see Cue Card today in the RoR programme. He looks magnificent.
A sad video doing the rounds this week from South Korea not sure when the deaths occurred but offspring of Street Cry,Big Brown and MDO slaughtered for meat. This country makes $11 billion a year through racing but finds it too expensive to retire racehorses????Horrific to see horses beaten entering the abattoir.
So disgusting about these young horses. Unfortunately, this happens just about every where. Every year a whole new influx of 2-year-olds comes on board while about an equal number of horses leave. Some go to the breeding sheds while some are re-homed for new vocations. Others are destroyed, either humanely or by slaughter. Many of the horses sent to slaughter are perfectly healthy horses. Not only the Thoroughbred industry does this either.
And so it came to pass the King of clay Rafael Nadal walked on court at Roland Garros this afternoon and won his 12th men’s singles title beating Dominic Theim 6-3 5-7 6-1 6-1.The long semi final Theim played took it’s toll in the end.It was in 2005 Nadal won his first title in Paris.Congratulations to Aussie Ashleigh Barty for winning the Ladies final yesterday,
Sad news from Glaslyn the middle chick died this morning at 7.30.First chick Mrs G has lost in 10yrs then at about 10.50am the youngest chick rolled on it’s back and could’nt rise up so after much consultation with experts they decided to intervene and got him to his feet. They have no idea whether the tumble has caused any damage but they felt he should be given a chance of survival. They have removed the dead chick for analysis. It’s been cool here this week and such heavy rain on Friday although his appetite was poor Thursday night. All well at the Dyfi.
Sad to hear of 2 more fatalities at Santa Anita.Formal Dude fractured his pelvis on Saturday and a filly Truffalino(sp) collapsed and died today She was 3 and trained by Richard Mandella.RIP
I HAVE REMOVED MY TWO AND 3 year old horses from all racing connections at Santa anita because of the above situations. They are no longer in training. I do not know what to believe about the santa anita issues. i suspect foul play somewhere. Someone has to get to the bottom of this. The L.A county district attorneys office is currently conducting an investigation. I just had to protect my young horses. this is terrifying to me.OMG.
Added comment. I truly believe that john Shirreffs is not/or cannot be involved in what is going wrong at Santa Anita. I have known him for years and trust him completely. But, for now My baby horses are not in training.
Dear Judy.I have always believed the sadness we endure in life should make us appreciate the happy times even more. The chick has eaten well now and seems to be ok.The four at Manton Bay are thriving.I have no idea what is happening at SA so many fatalities now.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
Okay, I am by no means an expert on what I am writing. First, Marilyn, I totally commend you on putting your horses first. I am horrified by these deaths (and no one is even mentioning the injured horses who survive!).
I don’t even pretend to know what is happening at Santa Anita. However, I think the problem is much bigger. For example, last year the most dangerous tracks were Hawthorne and Churchill Downs. And these stats did not include training, only racing.
The problem is further compounded by the lack of transparency in reporting. Santa Anita is reporting everything while tracks in other states don’t make everything public. It takes the public’s eye off of what is happening elsewhere.
I love horses, whether they are super horses like our Zenyatta or ones who can’t even win a cheap claimer. I don’t think I have the heart for horse racing anymore.
Dear Judy.A miserable night here again. This time last year we were basking in temps of 30C.The Glaslyn chick seems fine today but the team got a lot of flak for not carrying out a rescue sooner.I wish they would realise this is the Natural world and is it our right to intervene?I support any decision Glaslyn choose to take.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
