We’re proud to announce that Zenyatta’s 2017 filly by Medaglia d’Oro offically has a name! Ann and Jerry have named her Zellda, with an extra L for good luck!

Zellda is completing her early training at Mayberry Farm in Ocala, FL. The Mayberrys report that she is feisty and loves to be out front.

      Many thanks to Donna Z., Sheena, Sandy, Judy, Ann and Shirlee for the birthday greetings! It has been a very nice day, but I have eaten way too much.

      A nice walk with Bailey and Smudge, dinner out with friends and yes, CAKE!! Also, received some wonderful cards, flowers, candy and a gift card for the SilverSpot Cinema. I don’t recall ever getting cards, flowers AND candy for anything! Makes entering another decade less traumatic — I can’t believe I am no longer middle-aged, but then it’s been 20 years since I qualified for that designation. How time flies!

    Dear Judy.How did the big guy think he could sneak past the mothership???Mini-mother was riding Stanley today.She was back on the lunge it was so windy.No new cases of flu and the suspicious one yesterday was negative.Over 720 clear results back so far.Early days though.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

    Thank for letting us know her name! Finally we can refer to her as ZELLDA! She looks very spunky in the video. How much longer will she be in Florida? Any chance John will be her trainer? So good to see her lively and heathy. Again thanks for the update and videos. Love you Zellda❤️

      RIP Albert Finney.
      What a marvelous actor. We have lost an iconic talent. Like Judy, I wasn’t aware of his love of horses and racing. How fitting that his namesake, Albert Finney, won at Wolverhampton last week, and it gave him pleasure. Also, it’s very nice that John Gosden trains another horse named to honor Mr. Finney’s father, Honest Albert. Long may they both be healthy, happy and enjoy racing.

      His portrayal of the brilliant Hercule Poirot in “Murder on the Orient Express” (1973) was absolute perfection. He became M. Poirot as evidenced by Agatha Christie’s descriptions of the great detective in her novels. I think I heard that his Poirot was her favorite — I know he was mine. (More recently, David Suchet is most excellent, too)

        I particularly enjoyed Finney’s portrayal of Winston Churchill in A gathering Storm on TV some years ago.A man of principal he turned down a Knighthood and a CBE unlike many politicians I could mention and pop stars too.A fine actor who will be long remembered.Love and hugs

    Dear Judy.4 more cases of Equine flu confirmed at Simon Crisford’s yard in Newmarket.As is normal all horses had been vaccinated.No connection between him and McCain I should think.Simon used to work with Godolphin until he turned trainer.I cannot imagine we will see racing return this week.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

    Very sad to hear Istabraq’s friend Captain Cee Bee has died aged 18yrs.He had been with the Harty’s since day one and was like a member of the family.Named after Captain CB Harty one of his finest moments came in Cheltenham at the Supreme Novices when he beat another of JP McManus’ horses Binocular.RIP my beauty and sleep tightX

      Thanks for posting this wonderful piece. I watch CBS Sunday Morning every week, but I missed this one. I love Steve Hartman’s stories, but Tony Dokoupil did an excellent job on this one. Condolences to Mr. McAdams and to all who loved this amazing horse.

    Yay! Zellda is a lovely name I certainly agree with everyone else. However, I’m also wondering if anyone has heard any more about Ziconic and whether or not Zenyatta will indeed be bred this year and if so when and to whom? I for one am also eagerly waiting to hear more about Hovis and his healing. Good night all. May everyone horse and human be safe and warm.
