There was a birthday celebration at Mayberry Farm today! Zellda, Zenyatta’s 2017 filly, turned two, and as you’ll see in the video below, it wouldn’t be a party without a cake.
Good morning everyone and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there of both 2-legged and 4-legged kids. Here is a sweet, sweet sentiment posted on Stewart Stanley’s FB page: “A Mother is a person only seeing 4 pieces of pie for 5 people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.” – Tenneva Jordan. May you all get pie!
Sheena!! Maternal eggcitement!! Lassie at Loch of the Lowes had her first egg hatch last night AND!!!! (drum roll). Maya at Manton Bay had her first TWO eggs hatch last night!! We’re off and running!!!!
Happy mother’s day to Zenyatta whose son, Ziconic runs next Saturday at Santa Anita. I’ll be there!! Dottie sent that info in this A.M. Race 8 post position #10. Pix of Ziconic and Mario walking at Santa Anita this A.M. Saw it on Zenyatta’s website this A.M. And, Happy Birthday to Zellda, Zenny’s daughter who is in Training at De Sousa’s Mayberry Farm in Florida. Pix of Zellda’s BDAY cake and her comic reaction on Zenny’s website as well!!
All this eggcitement And Zenyatta family horse news all in one day!! WOW!!

Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our dear friend in Wales, Sheena! Have a wonderfully happy healthy year and thanks for the interesting posts. All the Best!
Belated birthday wishes to Forty Niner, also! Happy, Happy!
Sending thoughts and prayers for you and your dear mother, Donna Z.
Marilyn Braudrick, thank you for the news of Ziconic’s upcoming race at SA next Saturday. Best of luck to this gorgeous boy and safe, sound racing, always.
Hello Marilyn. Where did you find the information about Ziconic running next Saturday at Santa Anita? Thank you in advance for supplying us with this information.
I’d like to know that too considering that he hasn’t had a reported timed workout in forever and is not listed on the card for ANY race either Friday or Saturday!
Judy Berube
Dear Marilyn, Martha, Sandy and Z Fans:
Sandy, I noted that too; no works listed for ZI. Also, I checked the entries for Sat., the 18th at SA, Race 8. That’s a Grade III stakes race with 6 entrants. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy Berube
Dear Sandy, Martha, Marilyn and Z Fans:
I think I may have stumbled on the misunderstanding that ZI is entered to race this coming Sat. I found an entry from May 14, 2016. ZI was entered in Race 8 at SA. He was No. 10. Marilyn, maybe that was what you read. I noticed the Facebook pages for Z, COZ and ZI haven’t been updated for a while. Love and Hugs, JB
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Thanks for figuring that out, Judy. I was afraid that maybe we had been hacked again ?

Ziconic running? News to me!
Roberta Gonzalez
I’m getting worried; I just don’t understand with all our pleading, no one gives us any news at all about Ziconic. I’m beginning to wonder if he is alive or not, or if he has been shipped out of the country. I don’t understand why they can’t do for Ziconic what they did for Coz. You notice the horses that Ann is involved with that things are handled differently then Ziconic, who Jerry named, and I think has control over. I really feel that it’s beneath their organization how they are handling this.
judith Berube
Dear Rosemary and Z Fans:
I just checked ZI’s Pedigree Query. It seems up to date. Hope it is.
You will see the notes just under the headings Owner: Breeder: State Bred:
They indicate ZI is at Trifecta Equine Athletic Center in Bonsall, CA. Hope this alleviates some of your fears. Guess they are still deciding if he will race again. Love and Hugs, JB
judith Berube
PS: You have to click on the circle next to ZI’s name to see the notes.

Thanks you all for all the info on Ziconic. We need a spy at Santa Anita and at this Trifecta Equine place. I would go if I didn’t live so far away. No one suspects a LOL (little ole lady) with a cane of being up to something!
Hope everyone had a good Mothers Day and some of you all saw the sun.
I think John will do well with Zellda. He was great with Zenny and has just done a good job with Paradise Woods. Perhaps he, like Larry Jones, has that special touch with fillies and mares.
Judy Berube
Dear Shirlee:
I love your “lol” disguise. If We lived close by, I’d come with you. You could be Mrs Holmes and I’d be Mrs. Watson. Too funny!
Wishing all horses and riders, in the Preakness and everywhere, safe and sound. Love and Hugs, JB
Marilyn Braudrick
Sorry everyone. I don’t remember where I read that Ziconic was racing. But someone put that post either on this website or bloodhorse. or Facebook. I know I read it but so sorry, I read it and it was a mistake. Very sorry I believed it and thank you for solving the mystery!!
Happy Birthday Zelda, wow I did not know your name until today. I loved your snicker 2 times with your lips. You are adorable. I love you already. I pray for many happy races and safety for you.
A very Happy Belated Birthday to sweet Zellda. She looks like her sire but acts like her mother’s daughter. The Mayberrys must be so delighted to have her. And John Sherriffs must be counting the days until she comes to him.
In lieu of this year’s Kentucky Derby, this adorable video is just what is needed. What a personality and a great sense of humor Zellda has.
Many thanks to the Mayberrys and to Ann Moss for sharing this delightful video with us.
Sad to hear Doris Day has died at the age of 97 from pneumonia.Always loved her films and voice.Part of Hollywood’s golden era.She died surrounded by friends and leaves one grandson.News just breaking over here.RIP Lovely lady.
Doris Day is a favorite of mine — so talented with such a happy presence and that radiant smile! I was a great fan of all her films and enjoyed her TV shows, too.
Rest in Peace, Doris Day. You made the world a nicer place for everyone, both human and other animals, too. Thank you for a life well lived.
Sheena, thanks for posting this here in Zennyland — very appropriate.

Dear Judy Lots of tributes to Doris on social media .Her legacy lives on with her Foundation.Lovely weather here this week.Steve Haskin has posted that Maximum Security will have an Appreciation day at Monmouth. No matter views on the race the horse deserves to be honoured.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
I believe the DQ of Max and the suspension of jockey Saez are two wrong calls. The video shows Max veering out after War of Will’s jockey repeatedly recklessly made contact with his horse’s front legs striking Max’s rear legs. Saez would have to have eyes in the back of his head to see what was going on behind him. It’s no wonder Max’s legs were cut and a miracle that nobody went down. Thank God. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy,
I agree with you. War of Will seemed to really come up on and make contact with Max which caused him to react. Blame should be on the WOW jockey. As you said, Praise God that no one went down.
Hope you are doing well and enjoying some nice spring weather. It has quit raining here for a day or so but right now my furnace is running. Yesterday morning it was 41 degrees! I do have to say everything is very very green.
I agree with you too… Max was interfered with from behind and he reacted by trying to move away, a natural response. Then with the slippery mud and 20 horses running… it’s no wonder they’re all trying to get out of each other’s way in those circumstances. I wish they’d stop running 20 horses in the Derby. I think Max won fair and square.
judith Berube
Dear Shirlee, Kathleen and Janie:
Wish the DQ would be withdrawn, but probably will stand.
Max will be back, God willing, healthy and strong. Looking forward to seeing him race again. Love that boy. He’s a true warrior! Love and Hugs, JB
Thank you so much for your prayers for my mom. She started radiation last week and will know after about 20 sessions if it is shrinking the tumor.
The post position draw for the Preakness is tomorrow. I hope that Mike & Improbable get a good post post position. Also Catholic Boy will be returning to race. Good luck to him as well. So far, the forecast is calling for sun. I wish we would get more sun here! We’ve had a lot of rain this spring.
I am sorry to be so late in wishing you a very happy birthday, Zellda! You are gorgeous and have your Mother’s beautiful ears!!!! Hope to are an A++++ pupil.
