17Z: Training Days

Zenyatta’s 2017 Medaglia d’Oro filly is settled in at Mayberry Farm. Like her mother and two older brothers before her, she’s in early training under Jeanne Mayberry in Ocala, Florida.

Jeanne reports that she’s doing well in her lessons and spending afternoons in the pasture with a girlfriend that she traveled with from Lane’s End.

    RIP Euxton Lane who succumbed to his injuries last night.He had been improving but went down in his box and could’nt get up.He will undergo a PM.Much sympathy to Oliver Sherwood and team plus owner Trevor Hemmings.He will be much missed.Rest now cariad bach.

    Dear Sheena and Z Fans:

    The photo came through. After looking at the lovely photos and video of Beautiful Baby Girl, I looked for a photo of her Daddy Md’O. She has his coat color I think and his three white socks. They both have two white socks on their hind legs and one white sock on a foreleg. Hers on her left and his on his right. She seems to have his compact conformation too. That could change with another year’s growth. She’s a Beauty. Love and Hugs, JB

    Thank you so much for the update on 17Z! I’ve been anxiously wondering how she is doing. I can’t wait to see how she develops on the track! She’s so lovely–just like her Queen Mother! And she seems to be taking to the saddle quite well!

      All the very best wishes to Winx, beautiful girl!

      We are well and warm here in NC — just extremely wet, what a soggy year we have had.
      Very sad to hear that the roof collapsed and killed 3 of 4 horses about an hour west of here. RIP innocents and sincere sympathy to the owner/s.

      Thank you so much, Sheena-it worked for me. Our handsome red prince looks wonderful. Hope to soon hear what plans are for him.

      Happy to hear that Chrome is home and that Winx is back in training. It was a hard choice for me, but I voted for her for the Vox Popli award.

      For those of you praying for Amy, I think she may have gained a little weight back. She is also acting ok. She will not eat the prescription diet even when mixed with” people food”, though. I am going to check with the other vet in our practice about making homemade kidney diet food for Amy. Dr. Holly is more into nutrition than Dr. Mike is.

      Amy, Cappy & I had our pictures taken with Santa & Dr. Mike on Dec. 1. Every year our vet practice does pet photos with Santa & donates the proceeds to an animal charity. This year the money went to Out of the Pits, which fosters pit bulls & mixes and finds good homes for them. They raised over $700 this year.

      I received the email for the Zenyatta t-shirts & will be ordering one. I wish I could order one in every color.
