Hello fans,
It’s the beginning of an exciting month on Zenyatta.com! We’re in the midst of preparations for our third annual Zenyatta.com Celebration. Mark your calendars for Breeders’ Cup Weekend. Details will be announced throughout the month.
Leading up to this event we’ll be remembering important dates in Zenyatta’s career. The first is October 2, 2010. Five years ago today Zenyatta scored her 19th consecutive win with her victory in the Lady’s Secret Stakes at Hollywood Park. Watch the race again here and head over to the career section for more details about this milestone in Zenyatta’s life.
Enjoy!

So many memories, always our Queen . Much love to you and yours Zenny, thanks everyone for the videos. Zenyatta is all heart, breathtaking in her races and how I smiled to see her dance again!
Terry S.
Got to love her style! The Queen ran smart – shades of Secretariat!
PatB from NM
Look at her ears vs Switch’s in the photo above. Always love that about her. Right before the break she turned her head around in her gate, then got a bit riled. She was just too big for those tiny gates!
Miss my queen. Love you always, Z, and your beautiful babies!
sue and tony
Patti, we noticed the same thing. She LOVED her job and it sure showed. Ears forward, focused on the task at hand and just doing her thing as only she could do it. That’s The Queen
Elizabeth in NM
Vickie,
What a wonderful video of memories of Zenyatta! Thank you so very much for posting. with love, Elizabeth
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Amen to that Elizabeth – it is a truly spectacular production. I saw JAG and Trina in one of the scenes, and I always wonder how many other Dumplings are in it that I just don’t recognize. The joy on John’s face is one of the many highlights and always brings tears to my eyes.
While I was watching the video that Vickie posted, I noticed another one that I had never seen before and am putting the link here. It is WONDERFUL footage of Zenny and baby Coz set to the music “The best thing that ever happened to me.” Another real tear-producer that you won’t want to miss if you haven’t seen it.

Thank you, Team Z! It doesn’t get any more exciting than watching Zenyatta come charging, picking off horse by horse. Thank you for these marvelous memories! She is the QUEEN!

October 3 Cherokee Devotional
The first crystal clear morning after days of blue mist is like music after a long silence. Even the cool air does not dampen the spirits of domestic animals and those that live in the woods.
A young bobcat in prime coat wanters along the rock ledge in full view but unaware of interested eyes. No doubt he hunts for field mice and that explains why the barn cats have stayed so close to home.
We have not felt the extremes of oncoming winter, but time will insure it. Meantime, adjust, adjust. Don’t be taken by surprise. Prepare for change and the unexpected within change.
Our people possessed remarkable powers of concentration…and I sometimes fancy that such nearness to nature…keeps [us] in touch with unseen powers.

Dear Sheena,
Too funny, Longchamp has denied watering- another part of the French conspiracy !!!
Too funny. We don’t water we have that old hard dirt. So excited about the Arc, do you know what time it is on in France or in England. Sad the took the Woodford off the turf the turf and a horse went down, not sure if it was a breakdown or not, another went down because of the first fall. Hope they are alright.
Love and hugs

Thanks Sheena,
Drink some camomile tea it is relaxing-such a world moment in TB racing
history. Just read Thiery Jarnet said the ground is good and his concern is for horses that are not up to the race. Will be up early to watch, am sure it is going to be on the telly here. May all the horses have safe trips; godspeed to all and Fly Fly Fly Treve Fly !!!

Thank you for prompting us to relive and relish these memories of such a wonderful race career!! Zenyatta definitely always had her own style of getting the job done and it was such a thrill to watch her run – simply amazing. Thank you for continuing to share her life with us – we are so fortunate.

Dual purpose Forgotten Voice has been retired aged 10yrs.Trained by Nicky Henderson he will now join the retraining programme.Sheena.The “master” is over here today looking for an 8th Arc tomorrow with New Bay and Flintshire.Sheena

Dear Sheena,
Slim Shady one of Simon Callahan’s turf horses that was not doing very well switched to the dirt today at Belmont and won. Switching surfaces sometimes helps, he is a GB born horse and always ran on the turf, guess the dirt was easierfor him and he did not mind the sting.
Love and hugs
Tizgood
PS
Thought you would think this was funny rain yesterday at Keenland turf was soft for first race, 6 th turf race was taken off the turf and put on dirt too soft, maybe even heavy going. Stephanie’s Kitten wins the Flower Bowl for Chad Brown !!!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)

Dear Sandy,
I responded to the notices of Sue Noel’s birthday and Anne from Paramount’s birthday on the previous blog post — also, thanks to you for the heads-up.
Thank you, as well, for the word about Sharon in Seattle’s birthday.
Happy Belated Birthday wishes to Sharon from Seattle!! Sure hope you had a wonderful birthday, Sharon.

Many thanks to Team Z for this post. It’s old news by now that I never saw Zenyatta before the 60 Minutes special in the fall of 2010. I have the DVD that Hollywood Park produced that contains video of many of her races but not this one – so I have never seen this before! WOW!!! As with all of her others races, even when you KNOW that she is going to win – you just can’t believe it is going to happen! Bravo to our Z for a magnificent performance – this was really a thrill to watch :-)

On the Forum a picture of Coz shows him training in blinkers. Could do the trick to keep this big boy’s mind on his business. He seems to want to play rather than run.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Andrej,
Thanks for your kind words! So far, Bailey, Smudge and I have not washed away, but there has been a lot of rain.
I do enjoy your posts!
Hugs and Love

Stay dry, Marshall.
Thanks, andrej.
Penn sure is handsome. A mile and the race could have been his.
Teresa Curry
Magnificent! I could watch her run all day long! She gives the I Can Do This!! attitude and I use her attitude in my days! Love you Zenyatta!
Terry Crow
So great to see Z in action again. I thought Native Diver was my horse of a lifetime until Z came along. Completely different styles of running. Also noted is that old ghost, Hollywood Park, where my mother stabled her horses in the 50’s and 60’s. Just seeing the pictures of the grandstand brought back a lot of memories. MY mind began to wander and I could swear I saw Bill Shoemaker.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Terry C.,
Love your post. I’ll bet you are right about Bill Shoemaker! Hollywood Park will always be alive to those who were there and those who loved it.
I left a response to your post on the last page of the previous blog post.
Hugs and Love

Thanks so much for this photo and video of the Lady’s Secret win by our Queen.
It is so exciting and inspiring to watch her run her race. Zenyatta is truly a horse of a lifetime.

What a great race that was on October 2, 2010. I was there to see it live and it was even more exciting in person. There was nothing like the roar of the crowd whenever she ran. In this video you can hear the crowd cheeding during the race but when she made that move midway around the last turn the roar almost drowns out the announcer. She was and still is an exciting presence.

RIP Shore Runner euthanised on the racecourse.Congratulations to Nemoralia a good 2nd with her 1st run on dirt.Trained by Jeremy Noseda.Sheena.

RIP Skyring
Pulled up in the Shadwell, open fracture of the front fetlock.
Kept in the races too long I believe and ultimately pays the price. Run free warrior.

To Wise Dan, with such sadness today. Just loved so much getting to see you today. Charlie sounded like you might be a stable pony next year. I sure hope so. Your a part of our life Dan, you can’t leave us. You can’t retire. We need you with us Dan.
Dan the only way I will accept you leaving us if your legs just can’t handle it. Only then, Dan can you retire. I sound Bossy Don’t I. No, Just love you.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Shucks! I missed seeing Wise Dan. I agree with you, Peggy; hope we will be able to see Danny Boy from time to time. We need to keep in touch with the most interesting horse in the world!
Hugs and Love
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Hey, Marshall. He looked absolutely wonderful today. They paraded him around. He had on the white champions blanket. Just Fantastic looking. Charlie really sounded very good about his coming as a stable pony. I am so hoping for this.
Hope you all are weathering this bad weather OK. We have had a lot of rain here.
Tizgood
Dear Peggy,
They showed some video of WD in the paddock, he was really on his toes ears pricked, I think he thought he was going to run. I am not sure he going to enjoy being a pony??
So glad he is not going to Ky Horse Park or Old Friends; he needs to work and stay around the track where everyone can see him.
Love and hugs
