Today in History: The 2008 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic
Seven years ago today Zenyatta won the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic in 1:46.85, the second fastest time in the history of the race. Watch it again here and head over to the career section for more details.
Dear Kennedys, So happy for you that you had the wonderful experience of seeing Zenny race. What cherished memories you have. Pray many more of God’s blessings for you and your family. with love, Elizabeth
Dear Judy, He’s so beautiful! Now he’s running free with his heavenly herd. We miss them all so much, but I know we’ll see them again – I’m ‘counting’ on that – hope you are too. Thanks for sharing his wonderful photo. Pray many of God’s blessings for you today (as always) – with love, Elizabeth
Dear Judy B.,
What a gorgeous horse! Now he is healthy and strong again — running with the angels in the celestial fields. So very sorry for his family here.
Hugs and Love
There is supposed to be a new blog post today detailing how to win. In the past, they’ve sold a sticker, the purchase of which enters you into a drawing to see Zenyatta. (All proceeds from the sale of the sticker go to charity.)
Dear Paula, Always love rewatching all of Zenny’s races. She’s been one of the best blessings in my life too. with love, Elizabeth PS Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!
Dear Tizgood,
Same thoughts on Beholder’s draw. Bet Gary went “OK, no problem, we’ll stay out of trouble, then swing around the outside shifting into high gear as usual. My thoughts are that AP has his well deserved TP and done after this race. She is coming back next year, and winning the Classic could certainly add to her legacy as it did our Queen. It takes nothing away from AP.
So very True FZS,
Great position for her, not getting a lot of dirt and able to swing around, she is in great shape so she can take a long trip. AP is going to do well, Frosted is out to get him and is right next to him. He is in mid pack so will see if he can get to the front qickley amd away
from everyone. Gleneagles is also next to him English turf champion with a dirt pedigree on his dam side- Storm cat was her sire, may be competative on the dirt and of course Honor Code, Keen Ice and there are a few others. I hope Beholder crushes the boys, but
AP is going to be very tough to beat, she has a wicked turn of foot that he does not have.
It sure is going to be exciting and don’t forget your Zenyatta cocktail, they are delicious !!!!
Love and hugs
Unwittingly we have been parts of broken relationships, discrimination, poverty, disease, and overbearing personalities. These things exist, and as long as someone endures it and someone does it, it will go on.
So learn why these things happen if you want to overcome them. Learn and then don’t stay where they are happening, but go on to better things. This definitely can be done. Fear and helplessness are the usual reasons we stay in bad situations-but from those two things many other evils begin. Instead, say to yourself daily that you are able, you are intelligent, and you are protected. It expands your consciousness to stand up and shake off everything that has been degrading.

Dear Kathy.Indeed the bundle of twigs are strong.Problems with my FB I cannot access the photo you sent for today but it must be beautiful.I’ve just heard Untapable is out the BC she has a high temperature. We have had very heavy rain over here this morning.I hope it dries up at Keeneland for GH and all the horses taking part.At least we had some better news about William but he is still “very ill”.Hovis was texting his mum about his billowing cape (meant to be a rug but he had snapped the straps!!)He is taking part in a little competition this weekend(who cares about the BC the Destroyer is back).Did you hear about that 25yr old hunter in Indiana who got shot in the foot by her dog called Trigger!!!She had no knowledge of hunting just left the gun on the ground.I have never understood how women can enjoy the sport.I didn’t like Kate’s dress last night you need a cleavage and fuller figure to carry off a dress like that she is far too slim.
All our furbabies are well and preparing for Halloween even Marty in Heaben.Ray has got his coat on today so it must be chilly in Boston. Both chicks from Lowes are in the Gambia now Fr3 is doing a lot of exploring.I often think of ours from the Dyfi and if they arrived safely.Hope you have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Awww…maybe you’ll be able to see the pic later on. Sorry to hear of Untapable’s high temperature. Best wishes for her! Yes, dry would be better for all the horses taking part at Keeneland. Glad for any improvement for William. Prayers for him. Hovis will be so thrilled to be in competition. Hadn’t heard about that 25 yr. old hunter. Will look for that. I think I saw Kate’s dress you were talking about. I agree, not a good look for her. Haven’t visited all the FB furbabies yet. Went over to my aunt’s to say goodbye to my cousin. She’s going home to Reno today. Sure will miss her. That’s good the chicks form Lowes are in the Gambia. Hopefully the chicks from the Dyfi arrived safely. One can only hope! Have a great Tuesday. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Why Thinking About Losing – Is Really How You Win
via (in)courage by Ann Voskamp
Close your eyes long and imagine days without sight. And you open them to a brighter light. Imagine no water. And the next cold glass quenches like desert rain. Envision life without the loveliness of those you love — and you see how much you love.
But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Dear Vamp Sue.Great to see you posting again.Love your devotional. We take so much for granted in this life and only when it is lost do we really appreciate.I always think of the birds that greet each day with a song no matter the weather or what the day will bring.Love and hugs Sheena
Dear Sue and Sheena and Kathy, Loved the devotionals today! Especially noted the one about fear and helplessness. I always remind myself, ‘God will see us through’. Also, a note about the ‘birds’, Sue – we’ve an absolutely beautiful raucous chorus of chirps and singing early every morning and late every afternoon. Aside from the bunnies, squirrels, the occasional coyote, raccoon, bobcat, cougar, deer and the misbehaving roadrunners, we have a multitude of feathered ‘friends’ show up for a big party twice a day. It literally sounds like a jungle – so much fun. I especially liked the reminder never to take anything for granted. If we do, we miss so much.
Hope you all have a lovely and beautiful autumn day – today. with love and prayers for many blessings, Elizabeth
Enjoyed so much seeing Z’s race again! Sure brings back memories! :-) Thanks!
Judy B: so sorry to learn about Flash; thanks for the photo of him.
Having taken myself on a walking tour of Keeneland this past July I am keenly (groan) interested in the BC. It’s so much fun to say, “I stood there; I saw that.” To all who are going, have a great time and crossed hooves for the weather.
As we speak I am watching the BC Classic of 2009 on TVG—hey Zenny, remember that one? Un-believ-able!!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
The Finals in the Breeder’s Cup Bracket Challenge is up at https://www.facebook.com/paulickreport and, no surprise Our Queen is up against the great Cigar for Greatest Breeder’s Cup Winner of All Time. According to the article accompanying this week’s final vote, Zenny reached the finals with a 69-31 percent popular vote over Goldikova. Come on, Zsters! Let’s put THE QUEEN on her rightful throne! VOTE FOR ZENYATTA!
Thanks Deb E. for posting that link – I’m not on Facebook myself but I have been able to vote for Zenyatta all along. So come on everybody – vote for Zenyatta!
Can someone tell me if Ziconic raced? He is my favorite, but I have been very sick, and haven’t been on the sites. When I checked, I thought I heard he did. I know they said his workout times, “the theys”, said were bad. No matter what, I love him so much, and I can’t find out anything.
Seems like JS is letting him grow now and going to gear him up as a 3 year old for the Derby most likely in January. He has not worked since August 28, 2015.

There's a way to wake up and not to live numb.
The way to love life is to imagine losing it.
He who loses his life finds it.

No, Ziconic has not raced.
According to someone who regularly records pictures of him on Instagram Ziconic is only doing jogs atm and has not breezed since August.
So no race any time in the near future.
