Today in History: The 2008 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic
Seven years ago today Zenyatta won the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic in 1:46.85, the second fastest time in the history of the race. Watch it again here and head over to the career section for more details.
Beautiful hand ride and what a team Mike and Zenny were! In her own style and simply
amazing!!! I am repeating you Carol, but it is the only word that expresses what I feel.
Can someone tell me where I can go to view the Breeder’s Cup races on Friday? I see that NBC is only showing 3 of the races on Saturday, which is their usual pattern, but I would love to see several of the races on Friday.
Thanks so much for the info! I want to see RV vs Songbird and wish it was on regular tv. I don’t have cable or satellite so I guess TVG is my only choice.
Tizgood
That is going to be a great race; both are such great filly’s and 2 HOF jockies.

Almost like Zenyatta and Rachel meeting at 2 yo
Keenland has a tight turf course so not very Euro friendly, but WD’s favorite and if he can do it GH can, too. Gosden says he is a handy horse. So very much miss WD he was truly a champion of the American Turf.
Zenyatta loved to give the others a chance! She was a real lady.Amazing horse.Love and hugs Sheena.
Australia look to have another supermare on their hands in Winx a 4yr old daughter of Street Cry who we all know was Zenyatta’s daddy.Trained by Chris Waller she has won 9 of her 15 starts including today’s Cox’s Plate when she broke the record.Sheena
Dear Sheena,
I love what you wrote about Zenyatta loving to give the others a chance! You are so right; she is a real lady. And yes, Carol, Debbie S., and Sheena, simply AMAZING!!
Hugs and Love
Maureen O’Hara was a fine actress and one of the most beautiful women of all time. That lovely complexion, gorgeous auburn hair and expressive eyes — Wow, I always wanted to grow up to be her! The dictionary should have a picture of her as the definition of “beauty”. IMHO :-)
RIP Ms. O’Hara Many thanks for sharing your talent with us.
RIP Maureen O’Hara who died peacefully at her grandson’s home in Boise, Idaho.Aged 95yrs she was watching her favourite film “The Quiet Man” surrounded by her family.Sheena.

Love and hugs
Dear Tizgood and all Simon Bray Fans. I was just watching TVG at the right time today. I heard them say when Simon wil be in the Studio.
He will be on this coming Wed. with Todd. They didn’t say the time. Maybe he will be on more days before the Breeders Cup., But I heard them say Wednesday. I believe there is going to be some sort of Preview Event of the Breeders Cup that day.
“Wow” he’s back. Huge Congratulations to Dortmund. You looked just fantastic. Hope you come out the race in good order. Huge Congrats to PaPa Big Brown too.
Love You Both
Dear Peggy,
They interviewed BB after Dortmund’s win and I think BB actually thought about entering him in the BC dirt mile as his first race back. He looked fantastic, hope he races all next
year.
Love and hugs
Zenyatta – You are still our amazing Queen of racing. Om ran a great race as well as Dortmund this afternoon at Santa Anita . I love re-watching all your races, this is for sure one of my favorites. And if I ever feel a bit down, I will play your song by Liza.
What great news about Lava Man in attendance at the BC. He will be such an extra treat for the fans at Keeneland.
Thank you for sharing the anniversary and video of this wonderful Zenyatta race with us. This has to be one of my favorites as she goes along with so much ease and then when she quickens on the far side, it just takes my breath away as she is passing horse after horse. Her races were almost always run so much further than everyone else because she usually was so wide to be in the clear, but she handled the distance with her ears up. Amazing mare!! This just lifts my heart – one more time. Thanks to all of Team Zenyatta!!
At one time, most of us thought we knew it all, and later on, we wished we had kept quiet until we had learned something.
Discovering the depth of one thing makes us think we have tapped a reserve of wisdom and knowledge. What we really learned was how much there is left to learn.
We want to know; it is our nature. But most rebel at being taught, especially the things of the spirit. What we learn should always be carefully examined-but never with the intellect alone and always with the spirit. Life, itself, is the spirit and it should never be allowed to suffer malnutrition.
The roots of the tree of his life have not yet grasped the rock and soil.

All seems well with the FB furbabies. I wish you a blessed Sabbath. The torture of the Tennessee Walking horses is just sickening. I’m going to find a petition I can sign. Have a lovely day. I’m celebrating my cousin’s birthday with her tonight. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
Watching Zenyatta brings chills and thrills to my heart and of course a tear or two. She is one of God’s great gifts to those who love her.
Love to all dumplings,

Dear Kathy.A Blessed Sabbath to you and enjoy yourself tonight. We learn something new every day.I am suffering from jet-lag with the new time takes me a few days to get used to it.I hadn’t heard about the flooding in Texas and Oklahoma until I went on Zoe’s page.I love Marty’s messages from Heaben and how Walter Melon grew.Frankie is riding CDA this afternoon in the Prix Royal Oak.Have a wonderful day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO.
RIP Rajdhani Express who died in the Monet’s Garden old Roan chase this afternoon. It was won by Paul Nicholls Sound Investment who beat old-timer Wishfull Thinking by a head.
Some good news about Sprinter Sacre.Nicky says he’s the best he’s seen him for over 18 months!Sheena.
Dear Sheena,
Are they going to run SS again this year??? Radjani Express died during the chase? RIP
When is Baldizar King returning- the iron king??? So excited about Fazhihm he is soooo fast. Can hardly believe jumps is in full swing and no AP. What is he doing??? Rain Rain
Rain go away. Hurricain Patricia has sent sooo much rain every where. Guess it is going all the way to KY. Hope it stops by the time of the BC. Yes, they keep people in drug induced coma for a long time to decrease brain swelling and brain damage. Thoughts and prayers to William Fox-Pitt and His Family- Horses are creatures of god but Equine sports are very dangerous.
Love and hugs
The Keenland main track is sloppy, we all know who will win the BCC if it remains sloppy. Beholder will not run in the slop; she trained today on the synthetic track.

Go to NBC sports. Different channel from NBC. They usually show the early races on NBCSport and switch over to NBC for the others.
