How wonderful it would be to win one of these special auctions!! An afternoon with the Queen – oh my!! Sad to say, I have no chance of winning this incredible day because I have no way to be able to bid, but I do sincerely hope that whomever has the good fortune to win this auction will truly treasure their time with Zenyatta. I will once more have to be satisfied with sharing the event through the photos from Team Z, grateful again that we are continuing to be able to follow and worship Queen Z here at this site. Nico de Boinville could miss Coneygree’s comeback next week in the Betfair chase. He has a suspected broken arm after a fall from Le Reve today who brought another 3 horses down when running loose. All horses were reported to be fine.It means he could also miss Sprinter’s return in the Tingle Creek.

On Monday November 13th 2006 at 6.05am Desert Orchid was lying down in his stable, surrounded by his loved ones, and died aged 27yrs.It was as if he had planned it all his lass Janice recalled gathering his family together for that final weekend.Dessie died as he lived his own way.Dessie achieved iconic status through his flambuoyant front running style and being grey of course.Although for many his Gold cup win stands out mostly because of the heavy going and he hated left hand courses the race I like to remember is the Racing post chase when he carried 12st 3lbs to victory,A year after he retired the nation prayed as he underwent surgery for colic. He made several public appearances, raised money for charity and always returned to Kempton on Boxing day.He attended Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother’s 100th birthday celebrations and the Golden Jubilee. His ashes were interred at a private ceremony t Kempton where on December 27th attended by family and his fans a headstone was unveiled,To his adoring fans he is simply is remembered by his name RIPSheenaX

Jockey Rafael Bejarano out of action until Nov. 26
HorseRacingNation.com November 12, 2016
Tora Yamaguchi, agent for Rafael Bejarano, reported Saturday morning that the perennial Del Mar riding champion has a strained ligament in the outer portion of his right hand that is of relatively minor concern.
But the short healing process, combined with six days of suspensions that Yamaguchi said will not be appealed, means the summer meeting champion for the past five years, and defending Bing Crosby meet champion, will not ride at Del Mar until November 26, the 10th day of the 15-day meeting.

SHERLOCK NOTCHES FIRST DEL MAR STAKES WIN, AIMS FOR ANOTHER
Trainer Gary Sherlock recorded his first Del Mar stakes victory Friday when Do the Dance, ridden by Tyler Baze, pulled off a wire-to-wire steal of the $78,450 Kathryn Crosby Stakes before an opening-day crowd of 9,022.
On Sunday, the 70-year-old native of Pleasanton will shoot for his second stakes victory in three days when he saddles My Fiona in the $100,000 Betty Grable Stakes.
Born into a racing family – his father was a jockey and his mother worked as a steward and racing secretary, Sherlock made his mark as a Quarter Horse trainer before switching to thoroughbreds. He figures he’s been coming to Del Mar in that capacity “since about 1980.”

Today Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, members of the royal family.Prime Minister Theresa May,The leader of the opposition Jeremy Corbyn all paid tribute for the fallen of two world wars and present conflicts at the Cenotaph in Whitehall.I am always humbled these extraordinary men, women and animals gave their lives from our freedom.Unlike many I cherish that freedom and the price they paid every day of my life.We lost the best of the generations in those wars. This year particularly we remember the bloodiest battle of the first world war the Somme where over 20,000 died on the first day July 1st.Do we learn by our mistakes?Sadly no.It is what we are. When I am long dead and gone there will still be conflicts in this world but today it is my time for memories.RIP.
With my undying gratitude Sheena.

Why do you Brits wait until November 13? Other countries observe their tributes to the fallen on the appointed day, November 11. Everything stops as it did then at the 11th hour, on 11th day, of the 11th month, not days later.
sheena.davies(wales)
We stop on November 11th too but always have the ceremony on Remembrance sunday. The British do things their own way.
Max
Indeed, as in driving on the left side of the road.

FYI.Prince Harry attended services at the national Arboretum.Westminster Abbey’s field of remembrance. He also laid a wreath at Twickenham. There was a service at Cardiff Castle’s field of remembrance where my cross was placed on Wednesday. The Prince of Wales attended a ceremony on the last day of his tour to the UAE so you see the British don’t only remember on one day and the festival of remembrance was held at the Albert Hall on Saturday night.

Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
You are correct. Dark Energy is Zardana’s boy by Giant’s Causeway; YOB May 15, 2013 in KY. Love and Hugs, JB

November 13 Cherokee Devotional
Nothing is set forever in one direction. Change is part of life, but once we have found the right course in life, we must stay on it. To do than, we must desire to stay on the right course and be constantly attentive to that course.
But staying on the course won’t necessarily be easy. All along the way we will face potholes and pitfalls, and we must pay attention so we don’t fall into them. When we stay focused on our direction, every step we take, everything we do keeps us on course. But if we lose our focus, if we listen to voices from the past whispering that we’ve made a lot of mistakes and will never find the right way, we may in fact lose our way. But we can whisper back and tell all those negative voices to get lost. Then, as we continue on, we express our gratitude every day that we are on the right course.
From all quarters we receive speeches from the Americans, and not one is alike. We suppose they intend to deceive us.

A very emotional day for NH lovers as Nicky Henderson has announced the retirement of the mighty Sprinter Sacre. He had heat in his leg after schooling this week and at his age the decision was taken to call it a day.Sprinter is in excellent health and is going to parade at Cheltenham today.Sad though the news is that we will not see this magnificent horse on the racecourse again we are all happy he has retired safe and sound. His health problems are well documented but his comeback last year was unforgettable.I was absolutely privileged to be at Cheltenham in march when he regained his Champion Chase crown. The atmosphere that day will live forever in my memory.Have a fantastic retirement beautiful boy and THANK YOU. for the joy.All my love always SheenaX

Dear Sheena,
Happy Sunday! Fibbs’ first order of business was to sign the bill so we can take a nap whenever we want!!! YAY!!! I hope Walnut is having a ball with my sweet Holly. His send-off was just so touching. Have a blessed Sabbath, my dear. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Kathy. So emotional for us today as Sprinter is retired but it was the best decision Nicky is in tears and so sad his sidekick Nico de boinville isn’t there(having surgery for his fracture). He was one of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen on a racehorse.I enjoyed the service this morning at the cenotaph. We always hold a two minute silence on the 11th but the nearest sunday to the 11th is called Remembrance day.Personally I prefer to remember EVERY day and always carry a poppy with me.I have sent you a link to the service also a link to Walnut who died in his owners arms at 11.56am yesterday 100’s of people accompanied him on his last walk.Angel Holly would have been there to greet him.President Fibbs has signed his first officshul legislashun calling for everyone to be allowed to nap at work but you have to bring your own pillow and blankie!Hovis is having a great time but his Lordship was mortified when they closed the rare breeds village for them to rest.More pics expected so keep a lookout.Have a blessed Sabbath.Looking forward to Sprinter’s parade now.Love and hugs to you, kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

Oh no Simonsig has lost his life in a fall.I did’nt see the race but someone said he wasn’t jumping well from the start. His health problems have been well documented too but he just didn’t deserve this .A sad day for Nicky but more especially Simomsig.RIP

sheena.davies(wales)
His groom Dave is inconsolable and Simon was best buddies with Triolo d’Alene Nicky said they will both cry tonight.Cheltenham was very subdued after. The highs and lows of racing were on full view today.

I was checking some other news on BloodHorse and found that jockey Sarah Shaffer was injured in a fall with Boston Strong. This was in the first race at Laurel Park yesterday. Sadly, Boston Strong had to be euthanized as a result of his injuries. Ms. Shaffer suffered three broken ribs and a broken collarbone. RIP Boston Strong

Dear Sheena:
So sad for Simonsig. RIP beautiful boy. Wishing SS a long, healthy, happy retirement.
Hudson, overall, was very good today. She did well in exercises that she had never been asked to do before. She was in the ring with horses with much more experience than she has. At one point I couldn’t help chuckling. The “Diva” showed up and she kicked out. She settled down and followed instructions on the second try. Goodnight.
