Happy Breeders’ Cup weekend!

For the next ten days we’re raising money for Retired Racehorse Project with our annual Zenyatta Celebration. Visit celebration.zenyatta.com for exclusive auction items and opportunities to meet Zenyatta.

The 2018 Celebration Sticker

The 2018 Celebration Sticker is the core of the event, available only at the Zenyatta Shop through Sunday, November 11.

Each sticker purchased is a donation to Retired Racehorse Project plus automatic entry into our grand prize drawing for An Invitation To Meet Zenyatta.

Our 2018 auction items include Zenyatta’s halter and shoes as well as the halter and shoes worn by Cozmic One at this year’s Thoroughbred Makeover.

Follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts throughout the event—we’ll announce a couple surprises along the way. Plus, voting for our 2018 t-shirt design contest winner will begin next week.

    Big Congratulations to Accelerate and Joel Rosario on the Classic win which gave John Sadler his first BC win — congrats to John Sadler and all connections!

    Mendelssohn, 5th is respectable, also.

    Even though MYB was my boy, it was hard to root for just one this time. I was hoping Discreet Lover would finish well, too — he ended up 8th. I certainly hope Roaring Lion is okay — I hope they all are.

    Now I got to see the Classic.Congratulations to Accelerate and Gunnevera.Roaring Lion was pulled up I think but a lot are angry with Papa Christophe hitting Thunder Snow 19 times and on the shoulder never giving him a chance to respond.Does’nt show racing in a good light.Still on a high after Enable.

    Two wonderful days of racing. Congratulations to all who competed. Win or lose. All champions.

    Hope all of the horses came out of the races okay. Glad to hear that Roaring Lion seems fine. He tried but it just was not the surface he wanted to run on or the distance he wanted. Those Kittens are turf horses.

    What a thrill to see the magnificent Enable. She gave me a few scary moments but showed her mettle in the end. Was happy that my pick after her, Magical, gave a good showing.

    As usual the Euros ruled the turf races. So glad that they send their best to us each year. Thanks to all their owners and trainers for the chance to see these horses.

      Sorry to hear about Douvan’s injury — such bad luck. Perhaps retirement should be a consideration? Just want him to be healthy and sound. <3

      Great news about Ms. Banke's purchase of Lady Aurelia! So happy for this wonderful mare. She gets to come home to a safe and caring place. :-)

    I caught a bit of the evening news on CBS today. I hadn’t realized that Victor Espinosa’s injury was so serious. He suffered a break in his neck when the horse he was riding (Bobby) collapsed. Victor was paralyzed for awhile. Gary Stevens is a good friend of his and sat with him in hospital. VE did get feeling back in his legs and has slowly, but painfully, begun to recover. He hopes to be able to ride again, but while Gary and friends hope he can do this, Gary wishes he wouldn’t risk it.

    Hope VE achieves recovery and can do what he feels he should. I was thinking about him earlier yesterday because he hadn’t been racing lately. Best of Luck to him!

    Hope everyone has a good week. Don’t forget to vote if you haven’t already! I will be voting on Election Day (I am so “old school”). It will be such a relief not to see political ads every minute! :-)

      Oops, sorry I misspelled Victor’s last name — should be Espinoza.
      Also, should have said RIP Bobby Abu Dhabi. He apparently collapsed due to sesamoid fractures and fell on his head fracturing vertebrae in his neck AND lower spine. Sounds so horrible. Euthanasia wasn’t needed; he was dead on the ground. It happened during a training workout. Absolutely heartbreaking.

      Tears for Bobby and for all of the unfortunate beauties who fall victim to untimely deaths.

    So happy that Barbara bought Lady Aurelia. She was determined to get her home to the farm, no matter the cost.

    I had one winner both days, Jaywalk. Had a bunch of place and shows.

    Safe travel to Biscuits when he leaves for Japan. Hope they will send us photos and news of him.

    Did anyone see the story about Mike Smith and Garrett Gomez after the BC Classic in 2010? Ironic and also sad for Garrett.
