Zenyatta is a 2016 Arcadia Walk of Champions inductee, and we would like to invite two fans to join us at the celebration!
The Walk of Champions Gala Celebration will take place on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in Arcadia, CA. We’re giving away an invitation for two to attend the event and be seated with members of Team Zenyatta. The winner will be selected in a random drawing on Tuesday, May 10. Travel and lodging is not included.
Enter to win using the form below. Please read the Terms & Conditions before entering. Enter by 5 pm PT Tuesday, May 10!
The Walk of Champions honors the historic records of outstanding horses, jockeys, trainers, owners and other key figures not just of Santa Anita fame, but encompassing the entire state of California. No hoofprints or handprints adorn downtown sidewalks in the manner of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but the accomplishments of 60 “Cornerstone Champions” have instead been engraved on 24″ x 24″ informational bronze plaques.
More information about the Walk of Champions and the Gala Celebration can be found at http://arcadiachampions.org.

Congratulations to Zenyatta on yet another well deserved honor.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Z Fans:
Congrats to Tepin; another impressive win. Love Isabella Sings. She broke really quickly and ran very fast fractions. Poor baby tired badly. Another day. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
She’s Not Here was 6th in that race. She is the daughter of Zenyatta’s sister, Where’s Bailey, and her jockey is Mike Smith.
Tepin’s trainer also conditioned Tasty Temptation.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Max,
Where did Danish Dynaformer finish in his race? I haven’t been successful in finding the complete order of finish yet.
Tepin ran a great race — Congratulations to her and her connections.
Hugs and Love
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Thanks for reminding us of She’s Not Here’s connection to Z. Tepin was outstanding. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Marshall:
DD finished 6th in Race 11; Grand Tito was scratched from the race, poor baby, after falling and banging his head before the race. Hope he’s OK. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy B.,
Thanks for the DD finish info. — better luck next time!
That was a close call for Grand Tito — really freaky occurrence. I hope he is okay, too.
Hugs and Love

88000 people and their pets, including horses forced to flee massive wild fire in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Some horses were ridden out. Goodness however goes viral.

Keeping all 2 leggers and 4 leggers in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time in Alberta.I thank God for our British climate.God bless.Sheena.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Me, too. May all 2 and 4 legged beings be safe in Alberta. Hope they get the fire under control soon, too.

This is terrible! In addition to the people and pets I can’t help but think of the forest animals, the birds – it’s nesting season.
Those beetles have been moving north for years now. They’ve done tremendous damage in New Mexico (along with fires) and Colorado and now they’re moving into Canada because of climate change. Only very cold winters kill them. The trees die because of the beetles and the forest is unsightly but also, the dead trees are perfect tinder for fire. Drought, lack of a decent snow and warm temperatures – I’m beginning to wonder how much of our pine forests will be left.
It’s tragic.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Heard this on the news tonight. God bless all of them; praying for them. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
This is cool. Horses staying in your backyard. I also read that folks were giving rides to the escaping horses in their own horse vans along the escape route. It’s a mighty long ride from the Mac to Calgary. Lots of Americans work in the oilfields.
http://standardbredcanada.ca/news/5-5-16/neighbours-fine-backyard-horses.html
Marshall (NC Broad)
Thanks, Max!
This is very cool. So great to see the good things humans are capable of — a nice reprieve from all our usual ugly behavior displayed in abundance these days. It is unfortunate that it takes disasters to highlight the goodness of people.
Thoughts and prayers continue for all in harm’s way.
Hugs and Love
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Just a heartwarming reminder of how many caring, loving people are so willing to help. God Bless them all. Good Angels to the rescue! Beautiful horses. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Marshall. Did you notice that there is a chestnut in that little herd? He’s right up front for the photo.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Max, yes I did notice the chestnut in the backyard trio! Wonder if he is Shine or Rudy?
I think Socks is in the background. I guess the chestnut is Shine since he was at the front for the video.
Nice looking threesome!
Thanks for the link.

Congratulations to Nyquist for a fantastic win in the Kentucky Derby. The kid done well Lava Man.He had the best coach.Hugs SheenaX
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Sheena, Sophia and Z Fans:
Brilliant win by Nyquist and nice ride by MG too. Agree with Sophia that there’s a good chance of another TC Champion with him. Stay safe and sound beautiful boy.
No surprises in this Derby; all the favored horses were in the money all in the exact order of odds. Mo Tom, Creator, Majesto, Suddenbreakingnews, Destin, among others, all were bumped, steadied or checked early on. Felt bad for Danzing candy and Mikey too. They did what they had to do for any chance by taking the lead early and then poor baby tired badly. Love and Hugs, JB
shirleeinindy
Anyone know what happened to Shagaf? He did not finish but I didn’t hear what happened.
Sophia Gates
His rider says he is ok but very tired so he was pulled up.
shirleeinindy
Sophia,
Thanks for the info. Was worried about him.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Thanks Sophia!
I was wondering about Shagaf — hoping he was okay since he didn’t finish.
Glad his jockey took care of him.
Hugs and Love
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee, Sophie, Marshall and Z Fans:
Shagaf was eased and walked off according to the race notes. Apparently he was bounced around at the break. Hope he’s OK too. Love and Hugs, JB

In case anyone is interested, another one of my favorite mares Beholder is entered in the Adoration Stakes-Grade 3, Race 5, Sun. at SA. Gary Stevens in the irons of course, who says she’s better than ever. Love her.
shirleeinindy
Of course we are interested in Beholder. Good to see she is back on the track. Quite a mare. Was sorry to see she did not make the BC last year. Safe trip to she and Gary.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Yay, Beholder!
Good luck to her and Gary S. Both are favorites of mine, too.

That fall in the Turf was scary. Thankfully I think everybody was ok. Also the storm – Grand Tito hit by debris and was terrified and wound up falling in the paddock and hitting his head; hope he and his groom are alright!
Nyquist is too good. Wow.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Yes, Sophia, Sharp Azteca is gorgeous!!
There were some close calls today with the tumbles in the Turf and that freaky accident to Grand Tito. Seems that all involved emerged okay, though — I do hope that is true.
Nyquist definitely ran a good race, and Mario G. was brilliant in guiding him to the win.
Hugs and Love
Sophia Gates
Thank really was a terrific ride by Mario. Smart, impressive race. I wouldn’t be all that surprised if Nyquist does a Triple.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Sophia:
I thought the same thing when I saw Sharp Azteca. He’s almost a true Black. Just gorgeous. I did not see that fall; my sister told me about it. Hope both horses that fell and also Grand Tito are OK. Riders too. Scary. Love and Hugs, JB

So happy for Uncle Mo. He’s one of my favorites. His other boys, Mo Tom and Outwork are talented racers too. Love and Hugs, JB

Maybe Mo will finally get some attention from Awesome Maria? As I recall, he was interested in Zenyatta too. Probably not a good match however. Mo has grown to 17 hands since his racing days.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Let’s hope Maria is paying attention. Mo is a handsome Dude. Love and Hugs, JB

May 8 Cherokee Devotional
Happy Birthday to Jerry Moss!
Happy Mother’s Day to all Moms!
Ten minutes can change the world. Why do we think we cannot buck the system? The only thing we cannot change is the spiritual. If there is something we want to do or to change, and it is in keeping with spiritual laws, then we can do it. We need to know we can change the situation. Where human knowledge and expertise leaves off there is a higher knowledge.
Whatever we perceive we can receive. If we can form an image in our imagination-a good image-then it is entirely possible. If it is a wrong image, don’t try to justify it. You can’t Never be so stiff-necked that you cannot change your mind and change your life. We all can.
Everything the power of the world does, is done in a circle.

Congrats to Myquist and his team. No argument, he was the best horse. Think he will win the Preakness. Still love Exaggerator and Suddenbreakingnews. Rejoicing that all horses and jockeys came home safely!
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee and Z Fans:
Yes, Nyquist was outstanding. Notice in the photo in the article linked below, everyone is covered with the Churchill mud except him. Says it all.
Exaggerator ran a great race, as did Gun Runner, Mohaymen and Suddenbreakingnews did well to finish 5th after trouble early. Hope Danzing Candy and all of them came out of the race well. Love and Hugs, JB

Congratulations to Zenyatta and her team on the amazing accomplishments this year (and it’s only May). Entering the Arcadia Hall of Champions and the Hall of Fame in Saratoga in the same year is outstanding. I am hoping to be in Saratoga, I can just about do it in a day trip from Fort Erie, and to be lucky enough to have my entry picked for Arcadia would more than make my year!!! Thank you to team Zenyatta for offering this great experience to us.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Brenda S.,
Good luck to you for Arcadia and enjoy your trip to Saratoga! How wonderful that you are that close — sounds like a great trip. Would love to go to Saratoga someday.

Dear Sheena,
Hope you’re having a wonderful day. Wasn’t the KY Derby fantastic? So proud of Nyquist, and Exaggerator ran a great race, too. Onto the Preakness now. The ratties were having a very nutritious dinner so they can be on their toes dealing with the squirrels. Zoe’s Mommy took an all day class on doggie CPR and emergency care. There was a picture of Zoe all dolled up and sitting next to the Barbaro statue at Churchill Downs. Have a blessed Sabbath Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
