Racing Career
Zenyatta won her debut in 2007 and continued, undefeated, for 19 consecutive victories. Winning 13 Grade 1 races, she broke the record for number of consecutive Grade 1 victories, then broke the all-time North American record for number of Grade 1 stakes wins by a filly or mare. On November 9, 2009, Zenyatta became the first female to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic and the first horse ever to win two different Breeders’ Cup races. Zenyatta lost her final race, a second attempt in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, by only a nose. She holds the all-time North American earnings record for a filly or mare and the all-time record for Breeders’ Cup earnings. She is three-time Champion Older Female (2008-2010) and 2010 Horse of the Year.
