SANTA ANITA TO HOST ZENYATTA BABY SHOWER;
‘IT’S A BOY’ POSTER FREE TO ALL THIS SATURDAY,
‘TEAM ZENYATTA’ AVAILABLE FOR AUTOGRAPH SESSION
Santa Anita Park will proudly host an equine baby shower in honor of the great Zenyatta’s newly arrived foal this Saturday, March 17. All on-track attendees will receive one “It’s a Boy” poster, free with their paid admission and will have an opportunity to meet “Team Zenyatta” in an autograph session prior to the races.
“The entire racing world is buzzing about Zenyatta’s new colt, who was born in Kentucky last Thursday night (March 8),” said Chris Quinn, Santa Anita’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Zenyatta is easily the most popular horse of the past 25 to 30 years and people are clamoring to see and learn more about her new baby.
“We want to thank Jerry and Ann Moss and the entire Zenyatta team for helping us to make this happen and we look forward to following the progress of Zenyatta’s first foal in the weeks and months ahead. I think all of us here at Santa Anita are hopeful that someday, we’ll get to see this precious horse race here in Southern California.”
“The Queen’s Dance,” a life-size painting of Zenyatta on post parade, will also be on display at Santa Anita on Saturday. This magnificent work of art, first unveiled during Breeders’ Cup week this past November at Churchill Downs, was created by Jaime Corum (whose posters and original artwork will be available at the gift shop this weekend).
Corum, along with members of the Zenyatta team, will be on hand Saturday and will participate in the Zenyatta autograph session which will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Santa Anita’s East Paddock Gardens area.
Several charities, including CANTER of California Old Friends, Race for Education and EAGALA, which have been involved with Zenyatta throughout her legendary racing and now maternal career, will be represented at Saturday’s event.
First post time on Saturday is 12:30 p.m., with the Grade I Santa Margarita Stakes (won by Zenyatta in 2010) and the Irish Obrien Stakes headlining a festive St. Patrick’s Day card.
Be sure to check back soon for the new “It’s a Boy” photo gallery posted in the “photos” section of zenyatta.com

LOVE the photo on the poster–he’s “camera savvy” already!! Momma Z is obviously teaching him EVERYTHING!!
@ Dawn Conrad-Left you a post on the end of #457!!
@ Karen Gogue–Your post yesterday said it all-perfectly!!What a blessing Dottie has been to us for all these months–I knew how difficult it must have been to fit our “fix” in with all else she has on her plate. We’ll never be able to thank her enough, but I hope that the heartfelt messages over the last few days have let her know in at least a small way how much we love and appreciate her.
@ Sierra-Your poem yesterday was magnificent–you have real talent!!
@ Terri Z. and CC of VT–Loved your posts.
@-Lanes End Staff–Thank you so very much for these and any future messages and photos you have time to send us!!! The world has now tipped back on it’s axis and all is well–and–we are grateful!!!!!!!!!

I was able to get 9 posters, I am only keeping two which are signed. I would gladly mail one to you, the only thing is that you would have to pay for shipping. It was raining so hard when I went to put them in my car, so they got a little bit wet, even though I put them under my Zenyatta sweat shirt.
Linda/Maryland
Sure wish I lived on the “other” Coast!!!
Love you Zenyatta & BabyBoy!!!!
sharon in seattle
Zenyatta and baby Z look SOOO happy and cuddly in the picture! Wow – it really warms the heart to see them like that. Wish I were leaving the rains of Seattle for the rains of Santa Anita this Sat. : ) All Z-sters and Dumplings, have a blast – who wouldn’t – and please tell any or all of Team Z that I think they are the GREATEST!!
Sierra
Totally agree with you!
LeslieA in SoCal
Here’s my attempt at a little limerick for St. Pat’s Day:
There once was a mare named Zenyatta
Who grabbed people’s hearts like no other
She gave birth to a colt
Who shone like a bolt
And follows her like a regatta
Not perfect but it’s hard to find something to rhyme with Zenyatta (other than love that is!)
Eveline / Maryland.
Love it !

@ ZENNY’S WEBSITE GURUS—You have probably picked up my messages in posts made over the past few days, but–if not—as you are adapting the site, could you please permanently leave the ARCHIVES with all of ZEN/DOTTIES posts so that we may keep going through them, enjoying all of the precious messages, links and photos. We would so appreciate that!! They are just too precious to lose!!
Thanks so much for all you are doing to keep Zennyland thriving!!!!!!!

agree. would also like to know if the news updates will also be archived. if not, i will just save them somewhere, but if they will be kept on this site, then i won’t need to store them. if you have a minute, gurus, please let us know. thanks!
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Ditto that request! I still go back, occasionally, to some old Diary post, to remind myself of Kari, or someone else in our little (or big) “community”. I wouldn’t want to lose them all. Thanks.
Darlene Daniels
I second that request too, Please!! There is much I would still like to catch up on and much I would like to save.

What Sue says is what’s in my heart too (thanks for bringing this up, Sue).

hi, all! am envious of you folks on the left coast! hope you have a fabulous time at the baby shower. yesterday, after ordering my baby poster, had occasion to speak with chris in the santa anita gift shop. she paid a wonderful compliment to z fans. she told me that we are the nicest fans in the world. having done many signings and special events, she said, she loves us the best! z fans are the kindest, most patient, sweetest group of all, she said! now that just makes me proud. i think z’s goodness rubbed off on us! thought you all would like to know this. high hooves to us! xxoo

I just got a Google.com/alert-zenyatta, and Zenyatta and baby prince are going to be published in this upcoming week’s People Magazine . Woohoo
Sierra
Wait really? So cool I wonder if either we get the info about the next boyfriend for Z at the baby shower or in people magazine or maybe both…
Heidi K (easing into the transition) (Vallejo, Ca.)
That is too cool!!! I’ll have to make sure to pick up an edition! Thanks for the info.
carolyn
Have either of you girls signed up to Google.com/Alerts yet? If not, please do. I signed up for it two days ago and absolutely love it. Its Free. All you have to do is go to Google.com and type in Google.com/alerts then click Go. A dialog box will appear and in the top space it will ask you the name you want alerts on , thats when you type in Zenyatta. The box has some other question about how often or when you want these alerts. Even if you don’t have an Google account it doesn’t matter. It will still send the alerts as they come in straight the inbox you type in the dialog box. You are missing the best there is if you don’t sign up for it. You won’t be sorry girls.
Sierra
I did this and I am glad I did great info!

I LOVE that picture! Thanks Lane’s End for keeping this going.
Delrene in Carlsbad, Ca
Thank you so much Lane’s End, Santa Anita racetrack for these wonderful bits of information about our favorite Mama and baby.
I got Kari’s video via an e mail – that I signed up for so long ago on You Tube I forgot. It came this a.m. obviously under her You Tube account, Animalsrock4love. Dearest daughter of Kari – it was so beautiful. Your Mama was guiding you and her light and love was evident it your poignant statement. Truly an amazing gift she was to us who only knew her via Z’s website.
As an aside, I have gotten the same comment via the Champion’s gift shop. When I wore my Z dumpling tag last weekend. The lady said she thought we were the best fans ever! It’s Z-lovely. There is an “outside” chance I can make it on Saturday, but honestly not sure as yet. I’m running out of wall-space too Alex!!!! Note to husband, buy bigger house for Zenyatta memorabilia…..
Thanks for tip on People magazine.
Looking forward to the pictures, thanks so much Zenyatta website team….. You rock!

Delrene,
Thank you so much. I am very moved by your beautiful words about her.

Question: What does the red “Pin it” mean? computer savvy-NOT.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Well, Delrene, I googled “Pin it”, since I didn’t know. It looks very interesting — like joining Twitter, or Facebook, or another social site.
Pinterest is an online pinboard, to Organize and share things you love. (http://pinterest.com/)
“Each pin added using the Pin It button links back to the site it came from.” (http://pinterest.com/about/help/)
At WordPress (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/pin-it-on-pinterest/), it says that people go to Pinterest.com, and “review the Pins that users have posted.” Sites that have it, can find out “the number of times people have pinned” their blog.
But another site says, “Watch out!” because it is easier for scammers to fool people on Pinterest, because users just click on Pictures to go to links, whereas on other social sites, you read something so the scam is easier to spot. (http://mashable.com/2012/03/15/pinterest-scams/)
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
I did not put “Your comment is awaiting moderation.” but apparently the site did, because of all my links. It’s funny.
Julie DuVall / Ontario, CA
It is a link to “pin” any of the photos on the site to you Pinterest board. I have added several pix of Z and 12Z to my “Horse Crazy” board :)
Sierra
Okay maybe it isn’t that funny but I thought it was kind of cute. I tired to write a funny poem but it failed. Unless of course people would like to hear my first ever poem which is pretty hilarious.
Little Z runs around and around
All around the field
Z watches from afar
He wobbles just a little
He looks back and sees
His momma standing there
So he starts to run off
Z laughs as he goes
For she knows
She can catch him
She starts off slowly at first
Building his pride
Then she takes off
Pounding past him with a zing
She turns to see
Little Z standing
Staring with his mouth ajar
His momma just showed him
Just what she is about
Z gives a little laugh and then dances back
With grace she walks beside her son
Slowly she extends one foot
And then the other waiting for Little Z
To copy her steps
Slowly he tries
He wobbles and wobbles
Trying so hard but
He is not sure what his mom is doing
So tired and cold he collapses to the ground
Closes his eyes and starts to sleep
Dreaming of peppermint kisses
And racing at the track
Z looks back to see him laying down
She starts to laugh as she realizes
Maybe he is too young
Margaret I'm ECSTATIC!!!!!

Dearest Zenyatta,
A baby shower in California?!?!?!? How appropriate for you and your Prince (blush, blush). Ordered my poster today, and am proud to support your charities. Wish I could be in California to meet Team Zenyatta…know it will be a GREAT time for all.
Thank you everyone for keeping us informed.
A special high hooves to Christine Crocker at Santa Anita for promptly and nicely responding to my email about the poster!!!!
Take care,

Sierra – Your sweet poem is terrific. I see it all in my mind….. Playing in the paddock. His Mama will teach him the dance I’m sure when he gets a bit more stamina!!!!!
Keep up the good work. You are very talented!
Sierra
Oh thank you so much! I am glad that you liked it and that you could imagine it that was my hope.
Margaret I'm ECSTATIC!!!!!
Bummer there is NO WAY I can afford another 25 dollar donation right now, so the posters out for me. Rats and double rats. I already gave 25 dollars through Old Friends last weekend as a baby shower present for Z and Prince.
Well hopefully there’ll still be one for Apr 1–ooh Apr Fool’s on me! Still I’m gonna keep hoping!
Marty R / Colorado
Margaret,
I’m right there with you. I also donated to an equine charity the day after Zenny gave birth and now I have to wait. Certainly hope there are some posters left next month. I have her ornament, would love this poster of Zenyatta and son. Hooves crossed.
Sierra
Has anybody heard from Especially Horses lately? I know I haven’t seen her on her in a while.
Carol Howard -Traverse City, Michigan
To Dottie, Jerry and Ann Moss and the rest of the Zenyatta Team, THANK YOU!! You have given us unprecedented access to Zenyatta and her new life at Lane’s End. I would like to also thank Lane’s End for accommodating her fans, all of it has meant so much to all of us.
I would like to also thank all of you Zenyatta fans. Zenyatta would have always been great but it was the way she instilled such a fan allegiance that made her even greater! Thank You all for your daily posts to her diary, I’ve enjoyed every one of them. Thank You for campaigning for her for Horse Of The Year. Thank You for getting her face book page to 100,000 before her little Prince was born. Thank You for so many of you logging onto her website the night and day that her little Prince was born that the website crashed twice. Thank You for always being so gracious to each other and supportive. Thank You for never tolerating a negative post. And lastly Thank You for always being so inspiring, you are all awesome!
Sierra is so grateful for you all and has a present for you
Okay I feel the need to thank all of you so much. Every time I post a poem I always hope that you guys will like it and I must say all of the kind words and encouragement you have given me means so much to me. My dad was a poet and I always thought that my dad was the writer, my mom was the artist and I was the performer. But through you all I have found that I am all of these things. All of your encouragement and kind words really have showed me I can do anything I put my mind to. So I was trying to keep this a surprise until it was done but I can no longer contain my excitement/ gratefulness for all of you. I am currently writing a story about our journey with Z and her diary. It involves Z reading our posts and a lot about our posts and how much we inspire each other. Again I would like to thank all of you so much this really means a lot to me. I would also like to thank Zenny and Dottie for giving me my inspiration.

No problema, Deborah. I get caught all the time, with someone “invisible” adding theirs at almost the same time as mine. I grabbed the link from Judy B.’s anyway.

By the weather reports, Zenyatta’s Baby Shower will literally be a shower! But rain or shine, I will be there! Can’t wait to see fellow rain-soaked Dumplings…. And all of you who live too far away to physically be there, we know you will be there in spirit, just the way us West CoasterZ are there in spirit when lovely Z things are happening elsewhere in the EasZtern regions :)
Thank you, Team Z for the news update! The poster looks just TOO CUTE! Prince 12Z looks like he already knows how to pose :)
Heidi K (easing into the transition) (Vallejo, Ca.)
The dumplings are going to have a blast no matter what the Weather is. I won’t beable to join in on the fun so, as so many already requested, share your stories with us! Please!

@All, I left some messages at the bottom of 457. When I went back just then. I couldn’t get to the bottom. Hope they did show up. If they didn’t I will post later.
Love Ya Zenny
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Peggy (N) – they are there. I usually have to wait a few seconds, for #457 to display entirely, because it’s so big. But finally it will go all the way to the bottom. May be worse when traffic is heavy here.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Thanks Vicky, Have a good time if you get to go on Saturday.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Thanks, Peggy, but it didn’t work out, my knee is still a bit too sore (fell and hurt it last Wed.). I would have loved to go, I love seeing so many Zenny fans in person, even if I know so few by sight. Luckily I got to go to Zenyatta’s farewell and her Vox Populi, and got autographs from everyone that graciously appeared. So I don’t feel so bad about not standing in line for two hours today, to do it again. I did order the poster online, instead, and hope everyone who went will regale us with their stories of who was there, who wasn’t and what our Team Z had to say.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Have a good time on Saturday all Dumplings. Wish I were going to be there too.

Well have fun to all of you who can go. I’ll be watching from Alaska.
I’ll be there in spirit.
