Happy Monday!
Ziconic is on his fourth month of early training under Jeanne Mayberry, and we went to Ocala earlier this month to visit.
We arrived early on a Monday to find him excited to start the day. He has the same routine that Coz did this time last year. He’s even in his brother’s old stall.
We watched Ziconic’s morning workout and then hung out around his paddock while he enjoyed the Florida sunshine. He loves peppermints just like his mom, and we had plenty on hand.
At the end of the day, Ziconic even got to FaceTime with Zenyatta.
We didn’t leave without asking Jeanne, April, and Jackie to answer questions from this fans. Check back next week for a Mayberry Farm edition of Ask The Experts.
Ziconic has an official Facebook page! Like him here.
Enjoy!

Anyone who gets the time, check out the Facebook page of Texas Red. A video of his latest workout is posted and he is something!
I hate to pick out a horse this early in the season and one from the BC but just love this guy. The last winner I picked out of the BC Juvenile was Alysheba and we know how long that has been!
Health and safety to this beautiful son of Afleet Alex with my beloved Alydar in his dam line.

Dan’s sister Afleeting Lisa is a daughter of Afleet Alex.

Max,
Did not know that! Does she and Texas Red look alike? If she has a coat like Danny, she must be drop dead gorgeous!
Max
Don’t know too much about her. She has not raced yet. She’s apparently not a chestnut. Takes instead after her dad in the coat department, bay or brown cashmere. Lopresti says that she likes staying around the farm and that he has 2 year olds who are farther along in training. Guess that she’s a late bloomer like Danny.
Kathy
Dear shirleeinindy,
Thanks for the heads up. I love him, too! Amen, keep him safe and sound!
Hugs, Kathy.

Kathy
Hi Sheena,
Poor Fubu! I had missed that myself. Very thankful he has once again pulled through. I saw the story about the 102 year old lady and the rescue cat. Leaky eyes, as our precious Zoe says! Prayers that everyone in the east, including Ray , Hawley, JackO and Mom and Dad stay safe. I saw the Fly’s race it was SPECTACULAR! Love and hugs, Kathy.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
You’re still having computer challenges, I take it. Found 2 new Office Kitties to watch on Joey’s page. Enjoyed seeing our dear Marty’s pics. He never ceased to entertain. Mango continues to find and supply needy and deserving dogs with Freedom Wheels. Bless her! Have a good day even if it is Monday! Turtle-turtle! Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

Good news about Sire de Grugy. He schooled this morning and popped over 12 fences with his usual zest!He is going for the Game Spirit at Newbury next month.Hooves crossed for his return!Sheena.

Best wishes to SDG.
News from Closutton is that The Fly has emerged unscathed from his victory yesterday at Leopardstown. He is in good shape. Mullins confirmed that the next stop is Cheltenham.
Betting among punters is that shorty will go with Faugheen if he runs against The Fly. No worries. Paul Townend can ride. The Fly is doing all of the work anyway. Bite em, Fly.

Dear Kathy.Found the office cats! They are gorgeous!!Hugs Sheena.

To all you east coasters in the path of this horrendous storm, sending prayers for your safety!! It sure sounds like it is going to be a real scary event, they are saying to make sure you have food, water, and candles or a light source as the power may go out and be out for a while. Hope you all stay safe. hugs
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sue:
Thanks. May not be able to post for a while if we lose power. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy B.,
Hope your power will not go out! Stay safe and warm. Prayers and best wishes to you, Lola Mae, and all the sweeties at the barn. Also, prayers for safety to all those in the big storm. Too bad that you can’t send some of the snow to North Carolina — all we seem to be able to get is miserable cold rain, ICK! I think we are going to have a “liquid winter”. Love moderate snows, but not severe, blustery storms.
Good Luck to all!
Warm Hugs and Love

Well Ziconic
You are lucky you are in FL. We are having a blizzard up here.
Elizabeth in NM
Linda,
Praying that you’ll be warm and cozy. Hope this one doesn’t last too long. So glad you have the internet to be able to get online. We ‘just’ got high-speed here in the boonies of NM, after having ‘slow-w-w’ speed for the past decade. I think remedy of being storm-housebound is lots of hot chocolate and checking Zenny’s website several times a day! Many blessings to you up there. with love, Elizabeth

We’re waiting for the blizzard to arrive — the wind is already whistling and flakes are flying. Keeping my fingers crossed that we don’t lose power.
My sweet little town of Scituate is often on the news as an example of MA towns under siege in a storm. So you may see coverage from our pretty lighthouse, fishing pier, or a beachside house with waves breaking overhead.
I hope Zenny, her team, her boys an all who care for them –and all who love them stay safe and warm.

I saw coverage on CNN of the storm in your town today. It’s really nice there. I hope that things recover quickly as there was a long discussion of flooding. Did see however some people and their Labrador walking in the snow. Take care, Anne.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I hope you are not in the pathway of the storm.Any way keep safe!I thought the short one would go for Faugheen, would’nt be great if the Fly could beat him? It’s wonderful he’s come out of the race well.Great news about SDG he could possibly retain his title.”Mrs Miniver” was on our telly this afternoon, just caught the end of it ,was a great favourite of my mum’s.Sheena.
Max
I would never bet against The Fly. Mullins said something very interesting after the race yesterday. He said that he was a little worried about The Fly after Cheltenham last spring. He was afraid that The Fly might be suffering from a broken heart from losing. However, The Fly is one tough hombre. He came back with a vengeance. That story also tells me how intuitive and caring Mullins is as a trainer. He understands the horsey psyche. These guys are sentient beings and deserve respect like the kind that Mullins provides.
Love Mrs Miniver. That family is so civilized. Also love Lady Beldon and her attitude to the Germans.
Snow never fazes me. In my youth I used to build igloos and participate in snowball fights. We just have to adjust our expectations and stay off the roads in times like this. We’ve got a good supply of chocolate on hand.

Dear Shirlee:
Thanks. My big concern too is for the horses and other animals with no shelter. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I have been looking at some of the weather channels some places are expecting 2ft of snow everything grinds to a halt over here with a couple of inches.Mullins is a great trainer,is extremely kind and has patience.I would LOVE to see the Fly win again I shall pray for a wet march!!I’m glad you’ve got your priorities right and got plenty of chocolate.I used to enjoy snow in my younger days never had enough to build an igloo but loved snowball fights.Ah,yes the British were well-known for their stiff upper lip.Sadly, I see the change these days. They are going to show Sir Winston’s funeral on BBC one Wednesday night in colour this time..It will be wonderful to see again.Sheena.
Max
It’s all a question of getting used to things. You could handle it with practice and the tools to do the job. When there is too much snow or the dreaded freezing rain, I stay home and go under the covers. This kind of storm can kill you pretty quickly in the wrong circumstances. Some of these wind forecasts are at hurricane levels. Not good for electricity.
The Fly reminds me a lot of the Danimal. Neither one will accept defeat.
I have never seen the entire Churchill funeral but it was a great one. I have visted his resting place in the church yard at Bladon, which is just alongside of Blenheim Palace. All or most of the Churchills are buried there. Quite a thing that his namesake horse won that race.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max You may be able to watch on the BBC iplayer.Yes.some horses like Dan and the Fly just love to win and will never accept their defeats. They always live to fight another day.The Fly has proved it this season as Dan will when he returns. We are hearing a lot about your storms on the news over here tonight.Sheena.

God-Ziconic is so beautiful! Such a handsome colt with such a nice head. You can really see his Arab ancestory and he has a wonderful confirmation as well.
If he runs as good as he looks, the colts and/or fillies in he races against are in big trouble.
Zenyatta has produced beautiful foals, but Ziconic looks to be extra special.

January 27 Cherokee Devotional
Trust is a fragile gem that most people never intend to lose. Too often a promise is easily made and easily broken. It reveals a deeper nature that may never have been trustworthy. A Cherokee elder once commented, “Indian may forgive-but Indian never forget.” No grudge, but wisdom that a trust shattered one time may well be broken again.
Trust is a stand-a ga to gv-says the Cherokee. If the Spirit is trustworthy, then we should be truthworthy. He is the Gem, the Power of the stand we take. We personally have no power-but the Gem has it all.
The Indian world was devoted to living; the European world to getting.

Judy,
Hope you still have power and can be with us this morning. Prayers for the safety of you and all the animals.
Here in Indy we have had very little snow. Such a treat after we had almost 60 inches last year with mind and body numbing cold.
All you New England Zsters stay safe and warm.

Hooray — power and heat are still on this morning!
20 inches of snow here so far and more to come. Very high winds are actually helping to keep the snow off the power lines. Some outages but not what we expected so far.
Hang in there, everyone, and stay safe.
