Our beloved Red Cadeaux was laid to rest in the pre-parade ring at Flemington racecourse yesterday,Robin and Steve were there to bid farewell to their “old warrior”who had to be euthanised after failing to recover from injuries he sustained during the Melbourne cup last year.He won more prize money than any other British trained horse. He may not have won the Melbourne cup but he touched the hearts of racing fans worldwide with his kind and gentle nature and that, for me,says it all.God rest your soul sweetheart. We’ll always love and miss you.Sleep tight.Love and hugs for a legend.SheenaX
Thank you for sharing the race video of Ziconic’s first start yesterday! He looked so fabulous in the walk to the saddling ring with Mario proudly leading him and it lifted my heart to see him. My hope is that he gained a great deal of racing knowledge from this start and will be able to use that skill for future wins, but the most important thing is that he ran the race well and came home safe, as did the other horses with him. It will be wonderful to have this video to refer back to as he notches up his wins in the future. Go Ziconic!!!
Loved watching Mario leading Zi around. A beautiful sight! Even my non-horsey daughter thought Zi was smiling at the fans! It was a fantastic debut for Zi.
Hope Zi had a good night and is feeling chipper this AM.
Congrats Team Z.
I’m running behind as per usual. I was thrilled by Ziconic’s race. I know he has a very promising future. Yes, he reminded me of Zenyatta with that wonderful surge from behind. Fibbs is doing great…I’m sure the doughnuts are really helping! Missed the post on Mango’s page. I will look for it. Yes, bad news out of Michigan. I think I heard 6 dead, but I could be mistaken. Sometimes I thinkthe mentally ill are out-numbering the rest of us. Poor Deputy Dan. That’s really heartbreaking. RIP Deputy Dan. I agree, we ask too much…Have a blessed Sabbath. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
On this day in 1967 our last TC winner was born the mighty Nijinsky. He won the 2000 guineas,Epsom Derby and St Leger in 1970.Trained by Vincent O’Brien and ridden by Lester Piggott,The memory lives on…And we wait.Sheena
Nijinsky is one of my greatest loves, Sheena. But I never knew his exact birthdate until I saw your message here & another one on Facebook. Loved that colt and will love him forever & ever!
Dear Abigail. He was a huge favourite of my father’sHe was devastated when Nijinsky lost the Arc.Who knows one day we may get another TC winner.Hugs Sheena
What an stunning effort from Ziconic aka My Little Redhead!
Considering that in reality he’s still two years old and just how far back he was, that run is the equivalent of Zenny’s 2010 BC Classic run at the end. I mean: horses just aren’t supposed to be able to do that! (The Redhead was over 15 lengths back….)
But I’m especially pleased to know that Zenny is indeed passing on some of her brilliance to her young. So many great ones don’t and I didn’t want that to happen with Zenny!

Wish Gary Stevens was on FB. Would love to leave him a message thanking him for taking such good care of Ziconic. He also did a wonderful job on my boy Muchie when they won the BC Classic. He and Mike just seem to have a special touch.
Like all here, I am so happy about Ziconic’s debut. Loved Gary’s interview when he said that at the 3/8 pole, he said OK buddy, your mama could win from here, can you? And then he turned it on….a beautiful sight!
Ziconic is gorgeous, and so full of potential…it will be exciting to watch him develop. Saw another interview with Gary who said that Mike was sad about not being able to ride him, that he was really looking forward to racing him — but I’m sure that Mike was happy at the way Gary rode him, took care of him and focused on giving him a good first-time experience on the track.
God bless all of Team Z, with special prayers now for Steve W. Such a gentleman and a great horseman who helped Zenny to blossom into her best self.
Great shot by Bailey!
