Happy Friday!
It’s the time of year when kids go back to school and Ziconic is no exception. This week, he was among a group of yearlings that left Lane’s End to begin their training in Ocala, FL.
Ziconic has settled in at Mayberry Farm, where he’ll soon learn basics like how to carry a rider. We hear from Jeanne that he’s in Coz’s old stall at the end of the row, and he’s even made friends with Daisy the cat.
Last year we introduced you to Jeanne, April, and Jackie from Mayberry Farm and shared quite a bit about Coz’s early training. If you missed it and would like to read more before our next Ziconic update, start here and here.
Scroll down for more photos and a video of Ziconic’s departure from Lane’s End.
Enjoy!

Dear Sheena:
Replied to your post above earlier, but it’s being moderated. Glad you enjoyed the articles. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Sheena. You can extend that to all animals. I once saw a warning on the road in England about toads crossing, and to watch out for them as in don’t hurt them. Brits and Irish have a special warm regard to all creatures. It’s amazing and they should be respected for it.
Now, free that Moose.

Hi!
I submitted a reply regarding Barbara’s post about Thea, the 90 year old who got her wish to ride a horse. It is under moderation. I didn’t see the post from the Web Team about removing the +’s from my name until after I submitted it. I am wondering if I need to go back several pages to remove the +’s there?
Cheers
Marshall (NC Broad)
Uh, nevermind. I just found the answer to that question, I think. The answer is “no”, it seems. I just checked back a few pages and the + signs are gone.
Cheers and Hugs

All of these horse with the exception of one were born in the US. I don’t recognize any of the Euros, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. They might be good. Safe trips to all horses. Peggy likes Ring Weekend so that we can hope for him.

October 2 Cherokee Devotional
The simple things of life are best. An hour of sweet solitude, a cluster of bright yellow mums, the call of quail in the meadow. It doesn’t take much to please us. One elusive goal after another makes us hurry by some beautiful times. It seems autumn will stand still while we do other things. The trees lose their colorful leaves and they are no less pretty, but to see them in all their phases is even better. Certain things are required of us because to give and receive is the order of life-but it is the quiet, timeless, natural activity that rests us and glows in our faces. Everything is not duty. Some of it is reward, rewards we don’t remember earning.
Today is fair. Tomorrow it may be overcast with clouds. My words are like the stars that never change.

Dear Kathy.A beautiful crisp autumn day in Wales. Our coldest night since last winter.Ray even had huge paws as a puppy so cuddly.I haven’t seen a message from Dolly for over 2 weeks, life must be very difficult there at the moment. So glad all went well at the doc yesterday.Zoe was busy yesterday in her nurses’ uniform anyone would feel better after a visit from her.I was sad watching the video of Joey I find it difficult to believe he’s really gone, always expect to see him popping up in the studio or garden. On a happier note Mango and her sissys are having a picnic in the mountains for her birthday, she had a new blanket yesterday and is going to wear a Purdy bow in her hair every day!Marty was on buzzfeed again and he’s planning a space abventure soon!Boo looked so cute crashing out after lunch!Have a great day.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Enjoy the beautiful fall weather! Our temperatures are on the rise again. The winds are going to kick up, sending us into the triple digits. Very worried about Dolly. Hope they’re all okay! Zoe is such a doll. I know she makes many a patient smile and feel better. I know what you mean about it being difficult watching the Joey videos. He was a real charmer and had personality plus. Miss him so. A picnic in the mountains sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday. Yay for Mango’s new blanket. And a purdy bow in her hair every day…a real girly girl! Marty was enjoying another Milano cookie. Doing lots of internashunal bizness with paper, too! Buddy looks very long-suffering having to put up with Boo’s antics. Such an adorable duo! Have a fantastic Friday Eve! Hugs and love from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy

Thanks for the fix Z web team.
Love the article on Urban Sea. Definitely one to remember for her influence. I wish I was aware of her in her racing career. These special ones come so far and in between, like our Queen Zenyatta.
Max
Frankel’s mother, Kind, was not the best of racers like Urban Sea and Zenyatta, but her career as a broodmare has been stellar so far. In addition to the brilliant Frankel, she has stakes winners in Bullet Train, Noble Mission and Joyeuse. There is also Morpheus who is in the US with Bill Mott. Mission, Morpheus and Joyeuse are still racing and there is at least one more brother to come to the track, a young chestnut like Ziconic.

Just posted earlier today birthday wishes for Sue Noel and Anne from Paramount. I got that “Your comment is awaiting moderation” that others have received, and there was a plus sign in my name. I didn’t put it there. Hmmm. That has never happened to me.
Happy Birthday, anyway, you two!

Have the greatest day!
Sue Noel in Sun Valley,ID
Thanks SO much to all who sent me Birthday Greetings!! I still love my birthday, even at the ripe old age of 76!!
I started the day by going down to East fork to give Barnaby and Traveller their morning feeding,as Boss Mare Sue was down in Twin Falls, after teaching her class last night. Barnaby did the funniest thing! They were both waiting for one of us to show up down at the foot of the pasture and recognized the car right away. By the time I had rounded the corner and parked, they had galloped up to the gate where I usully give them their grain.
By the time I got out of the car, Barnaby had moved from the gate, farther down the fence, and had moved out from the fence about 10 feet—and–had turned his back to me!!! He has learned over time that I love to rush up to the fence and greet him first thing. However–this is NOT what he wants me to do at feeding time!!! He wants me to go straight to the food and bring it to him—AT ONCE!!! If I go up to the fence,he will turn away,so I can’t reach him until I bring the food. Today,he decided to make sure I wouldn’t even TRY to approach him without his grain dish!!! Isn’t that brilliant of him??? He is SO smart!!! He is training me very well!!
It was a lovely way to start off my day!! It has been a fun day–Sandy started my day off with an early phone call, which was a wonderful treat!! At work, people have been dropping by with little things and well wishes, and then to have greetings from many of you—perfect!!!! Thank you ALL for being here–aren’t we all so blessed to have each other?? I was giving Barnaby his messages the other day and telling HIM how lucky we are to have such terrific friends in so many far-flung places!!
Hope you have all had a wonderful day and that you’ll have sweet dreams tonight!!!
Zenny-You are a constant gift to all of us–may you and your Princess have a blessed and peaceful night!!!!
Max
Sue. Happy Birthday to you and many more to come. Loved that story of Barnaby. A horse and his food must always come first. Food is synonymous with love in the horsey world, maybe for us too. You seem to be doing a very good job of looking after him, and he is doing the same for you. Hope he’s getting some Honey Crisps. Many happy days are ahead for you both.

Dear Z Fans:
Just left the farm. Dubai needs your healing prayers. His blood work came back questionable and he could possibly have Founder. A huge abscess did pop on his left front foot, but he is still not able to bear weight or walk well. Angela had to coax him to stand up. She is cleaning the abscess and he is on antibiotics and pain meds. He did eat most of his grain (she’s giving him special grain). Poor little guy does not feel well. Hoping and praying he improves. Love and Hugs, JB
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
I’m so sorry to hear this Judy. I’m not exactly sure what founder is, but I know it can’t be good. Sending healing thoughts and prayers. Power Up Dubai!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sandy:
Thank you. Founder could be the start of laminitis. He’s borderline right now with Insulin levels, so we’re hoping that it’s all coming from the abscess site; which Angela is keeping clean and treating with meds. This boy is just four years old and so, so sweet. Hoping and praying he improves soon. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. I am so sorry to hear this news. What a lovely horse he is. Power up Dubai. Get well and the stud muffins will be on standing offer. Endless goodies.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Thank you for your concern for Dubai. He is such a Sweetheart. I could not give him treats as his Insulin level is borderline. But, Angela said I could give him a couple of small pieces of stud muffin. He loved them. He did eat most of his feed today, which is a special formula for Founder patients. Praying for him to improve soon. Love and Hugs, JB
