Zenyatta has always been one for special occasions. In true form, she foaled just before midnight on her 9th birthday, after a day of celebration.
She delivered a healthy colt by Tapit at 11:47 pm EST on Monday April 1. Estimated at 145 lbs, he is a leggy chestnut with a white blaze similar to Zenyatta’s. Eager to start his new life, he was standing on his own by 12:18 am and nursing within an hour.
Both are doing so very well, and it’s a joy to see how much Zenyatta loves being a mom.
Thank you to all of the fans who have been following The Queen and sending good wishes and blessings. It worked!
We can’t wait to spend the day with little 13Z tomorrow, and there will be many more pictures to come!

what an adorable baby. and zenny is such a goooood mom! she is so in contact and loving to him. i have never seen a horse so aware of herself and conscious of her place in the space she is in. her eyes are so present and gentle. what a lucky little guy to have her for a mom. can’t wait to see him in the fields kicking up his heels.
zenny looks to be in tremendous shape and very glossy and healthy. good to see her dapples again. we lost them for the winter but i love it when she glows with health like she is now. thank you for sharing this wonderful moment with us
how clever of her to have him on her birthday!
Olivia

NOOOOO, I love gray horses, in fact, I have a weakness for gray horses but I want junior here to stay Red!. It’s all good, what ever color he turns out to be. Remain Blessed and have you a good day.

I love Zenyatta. I believe both her colts will do wonderful things. Zenyatta’s half sister Eblouissante is by Bernardini and she is doing wonderful things in the racing world. 12Z is also by Bernardini so I hope he’s as successful on the racetrack as Eblouissante. He definately has the pedigree. Tapit is also a great sire to many GS winners. I think in my heart that 13Z will turn grey. I was looking at Tapit’s pedigree and every time a bay mare in his line was bred with a grey the foal came out grey. I think 12z’s name should be Zenadini and 13Z should be named Yattatapit. Just a suggestion. I love you Zenyatta and maybe one day I’ll make the trip from Ohio to see you living your wonderful life at Lane’s End.

WOW! Congratulations!! I am a 15 year old female and i live in Georgia, i have always wanted to see Big Z for myself! My grandfather promised me that one day we would!!! It may sound weird but since i was a little girl i had always wanted to be a Horse Trainer for Thoroughbreds, and i am still working hard in school so that i can pursue that dream! Zenyatta is an amazing athlete and mother! I am looking forward to seeing her sons ( and future daughters) race and be just as great as she is!

Fool Me Twice! Perfect name for this guy. Sounds like the name of a real winner!

Ages ago Marie A. Moore owned a great mare by the name of Gallorette (see records of racing; produce were winners, too). A big mare for her time, dominant and competitive, she had canine teeth (normally found in male equines.) A quarter horse mare, Mary Five, producer of 16 foals, also had canines, In the pasture she would snake her head and neck around, stud-like, gathering other horses into a group. She would also jump a 4 1/2 ft.paddock fence exactly 2 weeks before foaling and try to hide in the densest part of the farm woods. I have asked numerous times if someone of authority would peek in Zenyatta’s mouth and see if she also sports canines. I wouldn’t be the least surprised. ( no spell check)

Hey you could call him Fool Me Twice since he was born on April fools day lol
Candice Stewart
And he’s the second foal*
Shyla
Awwww!!! his name should just be “April FoolZ” :)
Linda
What a beautiful colt. I have the perfect name for Zenyatta’s 1st foal. Tornado’s Star!! Zenyatta has a blaze like a tornado and her 1st foal has a star for a blaze. Hence Tornado’s Star!
Twins
Would love to see a colt born to her from Wise Dan :D
Twins
Even better than that would be a filly by Wise Dan ….. considering genetics
