She delivered a healthy colt by Tapit at 11:47 pm EST on Monday April 1. Estimated at 145 lbs, he is a leggy chestnut with a white blaze similar to Zenyatta’s. Eager to start his new life, he was standing on his own by 12:18 am and nursing within an hour.
Both are doing so very well, and it’s a joy to see how much Zenyatta loves being a mom.
Thank you to all of the fans who have been following The Queen and sending good wishes and blessings. It worked!
We can’t wait to spend the day with little 13Z tomorrow, and there will be many more pictures to come!

He will probably stay chestnut; on most foals who have the gray overlay there are white hairs already visible around the eyes at birth. If this one does go gray we will know in a week or so as the new hairs grow in… and he would then be what is called in Arabian circles a “rose gray” as he goes through the lightening process over his first few years. the chestnut (reddish) hairs will give him a rosy cast rather than the blue-y cast of a bay or brown going gray. If he doesn’t show white around the eyes after a week or two it would be a pretty definite sign he will stay chestnut.

I still have hopes that one day she will get to visit Frankel… but not with a newborn foal at side. Maybe after a year’s rest down the way.
It’s pretty obvious Zenyatta has taken to her new career as a mother as well and as thoroughly as she did her racing career. How fortunate that she has been in the caring, capable hands of owners, trainer, jockey, and now stud farm… only the best for her. As much as we all would love to visit her it is right that she has the peace and quiet of one of Kentucky’s loveliest farms.
Now we can all speculate on TWO handsome Princes… I know, let’s call them William and Harry—!!!

What a beautiful photo. You can see the love and caring in Zenyattas eyes. She is such a treasure. She may have been born to run, but she truly was also born to be a mother.
