She delivered a healthy colt by Tapit at 11:47 pm EST on Monday April 1. Estimated at 145 lbs, he is a leggy chestnut with a white blaze similar to Zenyatta’s. Eager to start his new life, he was standing on his own by 12:18 am and nursing within an hour.
Both are doing so very well, and it’s a joy to see how much Zenyatta loves being a mom.
Thank you to all of the fans who have been following The Queen and sending good wishes and blessings. It worked!
We can’t wait to spend the day with little 13Z tomorrow, and there will be many more pictures to come!

Just looked at the Lanes End 2013 Foals List and the last two reported foals born were sired by Tiznow and Tapit. Hope that is an omen that Tiznow will sire one of Zenyatta’s foals. Now that would be some horse. After 8 days in the Waiting Room, I still cannot believe that Z’s colt has arrived. You sure kept us in suspense, Zennie, but the wait was well worth while. C’mon videos. Can’t get enough pictures of Zenyatta and her adorable foal.

Gray is dominant, if he got a gray gene he will likely be white by the time he is 8, maybe sooner.
I had a horse that was born a black snowflake appaloosa, and by the time I got her at 3 she was a white leopard with black spots. If I gave her a bath I could see her black skin and the white snowflake pattern over her hips through the wet white hair. It’s an interesting gene. Her skin color and markings matched the baby picture on her registration but her hair coat was heading for white all over.
Sadly Z13 will lose that beautiful blaze in time, although it will always be there on his skin under the hair.
