Happy Friday!
Zenyatta’s first filly was weaned last week. Everything went well, and they are both happily adjusting to independence. Z Princess, now in a new barn and paddock, is quite at home with her familiar group of foals. We’re excited to see this little one grow up!
Meanwhile, Zenyatta has been relaxing with her fellow mares and even hosting some special guests. A crew from NBC came to visit The Queen yesterday. We don’t want to give away any secrets, but we can share this cute shot of Zenyatta giving them some help!
Enjoy!

Dear Sally:
I’m writing to you through tears: just wish I was close to be able to hold you at this dreadful time in your life. Looking at the photos of Sir posted by Judy hurts, but it is good to see him proud and free from pain and fear. You are a true champion with the way you’ve loved and cared and fought for him, and there’s no doubt he’ll be at the Bridge waiting for you. In fact, he’s probably going to wait just outside, so you can both cross into forever happiness together. Hugs KathyR

Sally, I’m so very sorry about the loss of your beloved Sir. I know how heartbreaking it is to lose a beloved four legged friend. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. May you find comfort knowing that you’ll be reunited with him one day at the Rainbow Bridge.
Shirlee in Indy, yes, UK does have two conference wins this year. We should have three, but we had a bad no call in the Florida game and lost in triple overtime. I love Coach Stoops. He’s doing an outstanding job. UK fans have suffered long enough. We deserve a good season!
Laura J, thanks so much for the link to the 2009 BC. It was good to see her big move from a different angle. It still gives me goosebumps watching that race. It was such a pleasure to meet you the other night. I hope we can do it again soon!
Ann in NC, I wanted you to know that Sandy was well behaved this weekend, but she did get a little out of hand at Keeneland yesterday. We found the TVG booth and she was going crazy trying to get Todd Schrup and Simon Bray’s attention. We found the NBC booth too, but luckily for Laffit Pincay I was unable to get close. I probably would have gotten out of hand too! LOL
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
I’m gonna get you for this!! LOL!
Debbie G/Kentucky
Haha, I was hoping you’d see this Sandy!
Janet Newman
I had a great time at the races. It was a special day
for me to spend it it with great company. I kissed
Rachel for you. I visited Monarchos and he is a sweetheart.
He would have stood out all day long as long as the mints
kept coming. This trip will supply me with precious
memories for the rest of my life.
To Sally,
I am heartbroken to hear about Sir. He had
a true friend in you and will be waiting to greet
you at the Rainbow Bridge.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
We had a great time too Janet! It was a real treat to meet you and spend the day together. Hope the rest of your time in Lexington is fabulous. Safe trip back to Alaska!
Debbie G/Kentucky
I had a great time with you too Janet, at Keeneland and at Winstar. I’m still so impressed that you came here all the way from Alaska! Thanks for kissing Rachel for me. She’s such a sweetie. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and I hope you have a safe trip home. At least you’re not going through Chicago again!

Sounds like you ladies had a wonderful trip.
Thanks , Debbie for keeping you know who in line!

Hovis update: Somebody really dropped the ball. After getting the poor boy transported to a facility in Newmarket, it was discovered the some part of the MRI equipment would not fit around his hoof!! His Mum is livid (and rightly so as it was well-know ahead of time that he was at least part Clydesdale so his size wasn’t a secret). Stay tuned for plan B after she goes to fetch him tomorrow.
Ann NC
Oh no, poor baby!
Will stay tuned.
Thanks, Sandy.

@Dearest Sally– I am glad you were finally able to post. Tears and prayers for you. RIP, precious Sir. It is easy to see why you loved him so. I am so glad he was given dignity at the end. I would have loved to have known him. We will not forget him. Love and squeezes to you.

Dear Sally B,
My heart goes out to you in having to say “Good bye,” to your dear friend, Sir. I am glad that you were able to see him before he left the earth for heaven. He is still in your heart & is now an angel watching over you & will hear you when you talk to him. (I still talk to my Pride & it is 10+ years since she went to heaven!) Sir knows how much you love him & you will be the one he is waiting for to join him when it is your time. I know it is hard for you now, but someday you will be able to look back & remember the good times Sir & you had together. I will keep you in my prayers.
Judy B,
I am glad that Dubai is doing better. I have been thinking of him & praying for him, too. He is fortunate that we know so much more about laminitis now than we used to and have better treatments for this condition. Please keep us posted as to how he is doing.
On a happier note, thank you to Team Z for the latest photos of Z Princess & Zenyatta. Our “little” filly looks so grown up in her latest picture! I’m sure that Zenny is giving the videographer tips on how to best film her & the Princess!

Singing cures a world of wrong. We have learned to sing about everything-and some of it has caused better understanding. Singing with other people teaches us harmony, and listening brings out feeling and emotion. But na ni we a alone expresses more deeply what we have not allowed ourselves to feel. We can sing when everything threatens, sing to be serene, sing to overcome our fears. But the best is to sing with joy, na ni we a. Singing is infinitely better than yelling. It gives young and old a feeling of security-if not of amusement. Anyone can do it. Everyone should experience what a difference singing makes.
Give ear. I am the mouth of my nation. When you listen to me, you listen to all Iroquois. There is no evil in my heart. My song is a song of peace.

Thanks Kathy. This really hits home! Some of the best times of my life were while I was in high school or college choirs. Something about singing with others that is beyond word descriptions. Wait til Sue Noel sees this!
Kathy
You’re welcome, Sandy! Have a very harmonious day.

Dear Kathy. My cat Katie was the best judge of my singing, one look from her was enough to stop me!Poor Hovis, the clinic is more used to poncy TB’s and stressage fairies than Irish bog trotters!Bless him,I hope plan B goes well.

Hi my Zster friends, I am overwhelmed by such kind words in the loss of Sir. I just had to let you know about Sir. We all have lost a loved one, whether human or animal and all are devastating. Because of this, I knew you would feel my loss. I thank you all so very much!!
Judy B.. You are so special to put those pics of Sir here for me, I can not thank you enough. I continue to pray for Dubai! Sir was just so cool!
I am better but my eyes are still so swollen!! and bag, bags, bags!
I asked Michelle if Ann, the communicator had any connection with Sir later yesterday afternoon. Ann’s response was Sir said “I am drifting away”. She believes he was passing at that time. Then he said, “That’s all folks.”
I always knew Sir had personality!!
love you my friends, Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart,
Sally B

CONFIRMED: Australia to stand at Coolmore Stud
for the start of the 2015 breeding season.

Before he does that, he has to get by Cirrus des Aigles in the Champion Stakes. The old warrior came out of the Prix Dollar in good order, and is totally unfazed by the rule laden beak taking away his win. Last seen munching carrots in his stall and greeting his admirers like a king in his court at Chantilly, Cirrus is already planning his 9 year old campaign. There is talk of a possible stop in Dubai. Bravo, CDA. You’re a race horse.

Sally,
My tears join yours and all of your Z friends at the loss of your beloved Sir. Nothing any of us say will ease your pain but I hope it is some comfort to you to know that there are many who mourn for and will remember this beautiful chestnut boy. He is young healthy and running through endless green fields in forever pastures now.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.CDA is back with a bang,if all those horses hadn’t crowded him Saturday! The French are so strict,There is always the Grey Gatsby for Australia to worry about too.Shorty is back with 2 winners!I didn’t realise Dubawi’s stud fee is £100,000 even STS is less,on Sunday’s coverage they were looking back on his career. He was spectacular in 2009.Free the Moose for the jumps season!Sheena.
Max
Sheena. You bet that CDA is back. I’m also not counting out GG. Guess that Australia will go to Ashford in Kentucky to avoid competition with Galileo? Good for US mares.
Heard as well that Champagne Fever is eyeing the King George.
Also saw that news of shorty. Another season of his attitude to horses will not be easy to take. The Fly might do some talking with his teeth?
Moose, when is that beak relinquishing its grip?
KathyR
Dear Max:
According to Wikipedia Susan Magnier named the horse because she hoped he would stand at Coolmore Australia. Would sound a little bit clumsy to me, but then again racing folk Downunder have been having a chuckle at the Poms cheering for Australia.
Max
KathyR. Not so strange. Frankel is named after an American and owned by a Saudi. The Brits still think that he is their own horse.

Dear Sally B,
I am so sorry for the loss of beloved Sir. He will live on in your memories and heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have walked in your shoes and it does get easier as time passes. I feel for you. RIP dear Sir. Hugs and blessings, Linda

Little Thurzel and the Kangaroo.
Have been off-blog for a bit – hadn’t realised just how fragile my little girl was over her trip to the farrier and all the dreadful memories that caused. It’s been right back to the beginning in re-establishing trust, but she’s getting there, via Judy muffins and now carrots. Hoping she will accept the halter later this week so I can give her a relaxing grooming and a fresh cotton rug (the present one looks very much like she’s had a mud bath in it). As for the kangaroo – that was on the trip out yesterday morning. Was around 8 am, saw a small one on the side of the road – it poked its head out into the oncoming traffic, so I slowed down from the 100k highway speed to 60k, just in case it did something silly. Which it did – and that was to leap across the road straight into the rear passenger door of my car. Gave poor General who was in the back one hell of a shock, and really shook the car. Pulled over to the side (luckily no traffic behind me), saw it somersault, stand up and shake its head several times, then leap the fence and off up the hill. General and I took several deep breaths and continued on our journey to visit my little girl. I’m now having to go through the expensive business of the panel beater and hoping my car will not be off the road for too long. As someone once said, such is life. At least we (including the roo) are all okay. Well maybe the roo had to go and get some treatment for bruises and a migraine. Hugs KathyR
