Happy Friday!
Zenyatta’s first filly was weaned last week. Everything went well, and they are both happily adjusting to independence. Z Princess, now in a new barn and paddock, is quite at home with her familiar group of foals. We’re excited to see this little one grow up!
Meanwhile, Zenyatta has been relaxing with her fellow mares and even hosting some special guests. A crew from NBC came to visit The Queen yesterday. We don’t want to give away any secrets, but we can share this cute shot of Zenyatta giving them some help!
Enjoy!

So sad!

Any videos on his progress?
Thank you!

Debbie G/Kentucky
You’re welcome, Peggy! I’m glad you got to see Zenny. I wish they’d shown more of her. What about that Wise Dan?! He’s got so much heart. I’m just crazy about that boy.
Congratulations to my Kentucky Wildcats! We just beat South Carolina in a hard fought game. Hoofray! Did you watch the game, Terry Crow? I know you love my Wildcats!
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Debbie
I think Wise Dan’s another once in a lifetime horse. Like our Zenny. Just love em so much.
Debbie G/Kentucky
I think so too, Peggy. Just when it looked like he was done he kicked it into another gear and blew everyone away. He reminds me so much of Zenny. It’s a shame he’s a gelding. I’d love for him and Zenny to have a ‘date’!

October 5 Cherokee Devotional
Dozens of experts are ready to tell you what cannot be done. The difference is in the person doing it. It isn’t a matter of trying harder or giving more. Frequently, something doesn’t click into place until we turn it loose and walk away. The release is not to accept defeat but it is saying we have done what we can and now we will stand and let it work. Mental and spiritual work continues-even after we relax. The mind will try to take over but can be brought into line by the spirit, which is most important from start to finish. It furnishes the wisdom, the gratitude, the connection with U ne la nv hi Who made all things.
The Great Spirit put it in the right place.

Dear Kathy.I’m watching Longchamp it’s dry and cloudy there,Aidan is doing well but a stewards inquiry after Gleneagles won and they are very strict in France about interference.I saw the re-play of CDA’s race yesterday ,am sure he’d have kept the race over here. The French ladies are tres chic!Zoe was so happy the Gators won did you see her happy dance!Fubu visited Petco yesterday and got a new toy he still isn’t feeling too good only eating kitty gravy.
Mango was lucky yesterday getting all those onesies and the beautiful B&W one she plans to wear on her birthday.Gorgeous photo of Joey today those eyes! It’s all just too sad for me still.Did you see that lovely story about Iris Grace, the little girl with autism and her cat thula. She is such a talented little girl.Gleneagles lost the race, was placed 3rd JOB must be kicking himself. Not long to go now before the Arc!Have a blessed Sabbath.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Too bad about CDA’s penalty. Yes, the French ladies are very stylish. Ooh la la! BTW, that’s the name of the doggie spa where my dogs are groomed! lol Happy for Zoe on her team’s win. She is a sports enthusiast! I don’t understand how Fubu keeps going. You know he’s in pain all the time. Mango is a fashionista. She could travel to France! Yes, I was enjoying looking at Joey’s pics. He was such a beautiful boy. I, too, am still mourning him. Didn’t see the story about Iris Grace. Will look for it. Have a blessed Sabbath and enjoy those races! Hugs and love from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Just checked out Iris Grace. Sweet story. Watched Zoe’s happy dance, too. Adorable!
Hugs, Kathy.

CONGRATULATIONS to the best grass horse in the world…….Wise Dan. He is absolutely amazing!!! His will to win overcomes any problems he incurs at the start or during the race and he just powers home. Hope he gets HOTY again he certainly deserves it.
My capping success has waned, wish we’d get a race with WD running that would be an easy one.
Safe trips to all horses and jockeys running this weekend.
Hugs and kisses to lonely Mama Zen and that independent Lily, and blow one to CoZ and ZI in school.

Well, honest to God, who’d have thought of Treve winning the Arc again!!!!Brilliant run.First back-to-back win since Alleged in the 70’sGreat 3rd by Taghrooda.Max,Shorty is back today.Horses beware!!Free the Moose.Sheena.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Wow! What a win by Treve!! She’s baaaack!
Congrats to WD on his great race yesterday too. What a come from behind effort. Wish I could have seen it in person, but it was fun to watch the replay Debbie G! We’re going to Keeneland today. Had the pleasure of meeting our LauraJ last night. She drove down from Cincinnati, and we had a fun dinner in Lexington.
Really bombed in the capping contest yesterday (not that I didn’t consider Carpe Diem – rats!). Maybe getting to SEE the horses today will help some
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sandy:
So happy for Treve. Wonderful that you got to meet Laura J and spend some time together. I scored a goose egg this week in the cappin’ contest. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sheena
Good morning. Well,I’ll be .Congratulatons to Treve and well done by our Taghrooda to place third in a great race. Love Tagi and happy she came out of the race safe and sound.
Dear Kathy
Sometimes we do need to let go,the devotional was meaningful to me today.
I am not letting go of Ash,dont mean that literally, but need to realise he has good riders on my days and I will be visiting but not taking him out for HWs as much for abit…My disc problem has become worse because I will not stop the things I love to do.Time to heal. Will send along a “little” Ash news from several visits this past week. Love this boy,he is all heart.
Kathy
Dear Debbie,
I’m so glad the Devotional spoke to you!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Debbie. We were all amazed by Treve after her difficult year. She was immediately retired and it looks as if Taghrooda has been retired as well.Looking forward to hearing about your visits with AshTake great care of yourself.Love and hugs Sheena.

Charlie LoPresti is quoted today as saying Dan came of the Shadwell as if he had not run at all. The race had no effect on him. I noticed at the end of the race in the winner’s circle that Dan was full of energy and breathing some fire in the direction of Uncle Johnny on his dismount. They hustled him back to the barn pretty quickly. Danny might not have appreciated that one whip from Uncle Johnny. He also might have had to take calls from his girlfriends. What else can you expect from the most interesting horse in the world?
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
I’m sure Danny had a lot voice mails and texts from his girlfriends. Oh, the splendid life of the most interesting horse in the world. Love and Hugs, JB
Ann NC
Danny was a wee bit cantankerous. JV almost gave us a flying dismount.
JB, am sure that phone was busy!
Amazing horse.

A “Little ” Ash News
There was some excitement at the barn last week.A new horse came to live in the stall across from Ash and his old buddy left for the Pemberton Valley. The whole barn was up as the new boy came down the aisle and went into his stall-lined with hay! Ash’s head high, his eyes wide, when he bit his stall door (haven’t seen that before) I decided to take Ash to the large paddock out front.Well, did he let loose! Ash bucked-and ran-and bucked some more.He galloped in short strong spurts, twirled his head and neck with mane flying, and trotted-no,floated-around the ring like he was young again. This 23 yr.od gentleman who usually has a nice forward walk and trots here and there-gave me a glimpse and certainly the POWER of his youth. What a show!! I just LOVED it!!
Despite his years and some arthritis,Ash is feeling pretty good.
These autumn days have been largely sunny and warm. We’ve been on some nice walks and long grazes.I like to lean my back against him while he grazes, eyes closed, hearing the sounds and feeling his rhythm and gentle movements. His topline is well above my head. One day we went down the “Magic Trail” again and met a lady in her 80’s who stopped to chat while Ash grazed. She asked about his colour and took her cane to point to the spots she liked.A horsewoman all her life,I enjoyed hearing stories of her riding down the road three abreast in the old days not worried about traffic. She told me that there use to be a barn and horses on the Clinton Trail in the forest where I take Tully. This lovely lady was surprised to hear that Ash was in his early twenties and said he looked much younger and had a good topline still, great to hear that. Such a nice connection with horse/dog lovers-she left smiling and we turned back down this country road for home( didn’t want to end up at the monster house construction in the other direction!) Ash and I walked down a quiet road beside a track/riding club where he spent a large part of his life in the rings jumping. He had many riders and went to many shows in his day.
Yesterday Ash had time out front with lots of room to just be.He hit the ground and had a good roll almost as soon as he went through the gate-love to see his legs flying in the air. He popped up thoroughly delighted and covered in dirt. Then he moved around the space and wandered nibbling on leaves and eating a few acorns( before I quickly removed the rest). He went to visit his buddy Louie and they were resting in the sun nose to nose (good relationship now that Ash has established his manliness and done some gallops and quick stops with dirt flying right in front of Louie on the other side of the fence).Too funny when Louie arrived earlier this year,I was afraid Ash would have a heart attack he showed off so much. I left them napping together and came back later to groom Ash. He showed me his favourite spots as usual,no doubt about where he would like a scratch.I remember someone telling me that if a horse shows you his hind just to walk away.Well,I had this huge muscled butt in my face (Here please!) and I remembered those words and just began to laugh. Then I took the rake to get the dirt off and Ash lifted his leg gently so as not to kick me (Here too!).I walked about for abit and he followed me at my side as I walked. I appreciate his affection and also got a message,”I like it here but can we PLEASE go for some grass!”Well,I couldn’t resist those eyes and out we went.Ash had a nice long graze close by and the sun was soft and low in the sky on our way home.As we came down the road,Louie lifted his head high and let out a huge winnie to greet us.I said “Thanks Louie,we’re home” to this great big chestnut with a white blaze and eyes that went right through us as we approached. What a welcome home, happy days!
Ash returned to the barn right before dinner good timing.Down tha barn aisle all the horses heads hung over the stall doors waiting with anticipation.Oh,I forgot to tell you that the new gelding across from Ash is called Oliver,”Ollie” and he has settled in nicely and is very sweet .Ash is back to his mild mannered self, that is until food is on it’s way.His head is hanging over his stall door now with lips parting, wiggling and smacking beckoning the hay..Too funny. Next to Ash the head of young Lewis, a mustang pony who is wonderful, hangs out and so on all down the aisle.Next comes Unique,we call her Pretty Lady who is a gray, then Louie the handsome chestnut who greeted us, then Verena a bay with chestnut shades and big doe eyes. Two other horses are in nice covered in-outs outside the barn,Havana a chestnut and Justin (a young black horse who is on stall rest) I visit Justin every time I come down and give him a treat. Well,I filled Ash’s water buckets and gave him some treats, took some photos of this hungry herd, smiled and said a little hi to them all. The hay arrived,Ollie had a quick bite from the barrow which was parked right in front of him-who wouldn’t .Everyone received their hay and the barn was almost silent, quiet munching and happy horses. I headed home very content.

Dear Max
So delighted that Wise Dan won the Shadwell and even happier that his trainer has said that he is feeling great after the race. What an amazing boy,he came back after a tough start and stayed focused and just powered through to win. Just love this horse!
Max
debbie s. The most interesting horse in the world has now reached a new plateau – 11 grade 1 wins. The talking heads like to call his pedigree blue collar. His dad however and Lisa Danielle have produced one glorious superstar. We are lucky to be alive to see this horse perform with a courage which is almost beyond belief. He could have died from colic in May. He has proven out of that illness that he has a will of iron and a very rare talent, the depth of which we may not yet have seen in its true brilliance.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Spot on. Love and Hugs, JB

JudyB. Dan might have watched this video of the best stretch run in recent years for pointers on how to kick butt. Still unbelievable, the sheer beauty of it. Great head shots of the Queen too which show her ears to perfection. She is an exquisitely beautiful horse, the most beautiful horse in the world.

Dear Max:
Never gets old. Still get goosebumps and teary every time I watch it. The Queen is exquisite. I love her 2010 BCC too. Same reaction; a few more tears. Danny must have watched this video; learned from the best. Love and Hugs, JB

Hello,
Since I see people are talking about other horses besides Zenyatta and all her foals, I’d like to give a shout out to Groupie Doll????? Does ANYONE know what is going on with her? We hear all about Plum Pretty and all Ms. Pope’s other mares and foals but it’s like Groupie Doll just fell off the face of the earth.
As for Zenyatta, always a sweetheart and yes, Wise Dan was very impressive yesterday.
Thanks.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Lorraine:
Here’s an article from the Paulick Report in January this year stating Groupie Doll to be bred to Tapit. If the mating was successful, the foal should arrive next Spring. Could not find an article confirming she is in foal to Tapit.

Dear Max
I couldn’t agree with you more.Wise Dan has a “courage that is beyond belief” and is,like Zenyatta, the horse of a lifetime. Thank God he survived the colic and his team brought him back with wisdom and integrity to allow him to do what he wanted most-to run.He is already a legend and his talent and character will be talked about for years to come. I am so happy that you shared your love and passion for Wise Dan with all of us- I am a forever fan and he is the man!
With thanks,Debbie
