Happy Friday!
If you’ve been waiting for an update about Zenyatta’s boys, this post is for you. Brothers Cozmic One and Ziconic spent the last few months with John Shirreffs at Belmont Park. They are pictured above eating some of their favorite treats, sweet potato for Ziconic and carrot juice for Coz.
This month, John and Dottie moved the horses back to Santa Anita for the winter. We’ll let you know how they’re settling in next week.
Here are a few photos from Ziconic’s November 25 workout at Belmont Park and a couple of Coz breezing as well. Photos courtesy of Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs.
Enjoy!

Like anything else, if one is prepared to meet winter rather than cower at the thought, it is an excellent time to be happy and alive.
When we are warm on the inside and we have no excessive fears, we can lean into the wind and pace ourselves to breathe the cold air and taste the snow without absorbing it. We were created to take dominion over these things and it is time we proved it.
But as long as there is one other person who is not warm, who does not see beauty, we can’t be too comfortable nor immune to winter.
I will ask him [the white man] to understand his ways, then I will prepare the way for my children.

Dear Kathy.Gosh,it’s really something when we have higher overnight temps than CA!!Another damp mild day over here but there is some snow in Scotland.Such sad news about Coneygree slab fractures of the hocks. Most likely out for the season and Flamenco Lad has died in the first at Ludlow.RIP.But good news about Balthazar King he’s back!!!I heard on the grapevine the wives will kill the owners if he runs in the GN again he may stick to XC.Don Cossack is favourite for the King George.I sent you the tribute Janice Coyle wrote for her beloved Dessie back in 2006.I was chatting with her last night she belongs to one of my groups.Everyone adored Dessie and he loved us back.Mr Fibbs was busy making cupcakes last night and going to eat most of them I fink!Zoe is going to visit Mr Al this Friday again.Mango and Mattie got their Christmas outfits in readiness for their trip to Ohio.Only they are travelling with Judy and Nay.Judy was up until 4am getting all the packages ready for the posty. The auction for Lady Thatcher’s belongings exceeded all expectations. The majority goes to charity. The V&A will be sorry one day!Have a great day.Love and hugs to you, kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
That’s crazy that your temps are warmer than CA’s. Same holds true here, the east coast is usually a lot colder than the west coast. Right now it’s reversed! I was sad to read of Coneygree’s injuries. Also the loss of Flamenco Lad, may he rest in peace. Thumbs up for Balthazar King! Thank you for sending me the tribute for Dessie. I could go for a cupcake right now…sadly I have no rats to bake one for me! Mr. Al sure is lucky to get weekly visits from Zoe! I would love to meet her just once. Bon voyage to Mango, Mattie, Judy and Nay. Good to hear the auction for Lady Thatcher’s belongings went so well. Just a heads up, we will leave a week from today and we’ll be at Steve’s dad’s in Pacific Grove for Christmas. We will probably be home again on the 28th. I will post the Devotionals for the days we will be gone.Have a great Hump Day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar.

Happy Birthday To Me!!!!
I just gave myself a birthday gift. Of course the actual natal day is Dec. 2, but I have been pondering this purchase since then. So when I saw it was on sale, I gave in and got it!!! The Racing Silks leather tote, Racing Silks leather pouch and Racing Silks key chain! I cant wait for them to arrive!
Oh yes, it is cold here in Sacramento, California. Even colder up the hill, below zero I have heard. Hopefully next storm will add to the snow pack up there as well as rain down in the valley. I hope El Nino is a drought buster!!!

December 17 Cherokee Devotional
Something very special happens in a Christmas sky. The heavens are deeper, bluer, and even the stars glitter electricity and energy. The sky is alive and set apart from earthly activity-reflecting so much that we know in our hearts.
But doubt and pain would steal this tranquil vision if we were to allow it. To stand and look into a Christmas sky tells us something about a Power far beyond our most vivid imagination. It removes us from competition, takes us out of pettiness and drains away the bitterness.
Listen, this is no common phenomenon, this is all life, this is all peace, this is joy unspeakable!
But if the vision was true and mighty, it is true and mighty yet.

Today’s devo:
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9–11)
Christmas was God’s most successful setback. He has always delighted to show his power through apparent defeat. He makes tactical retreats in order to win strategic victories.
Joseph was promised glory and power in his dream (Genesis 37:5–11). But to achieve that victory he had to become a slave in Egypt. And as if that were not enough, when his conditions improved because of his integrity, he was made worse than a slave — a prisoner.
But it was all planned. For there in prison he met Pharaoh’s butler, who eventually brought him to Pharaoh who put him over Egypt. What an unlikely route to glory!
But that is God’s way — even for his Son. He emptied himself and took the form of a slave. Worse than a slave — a prisoner — and was executed. But like Joseph, he kept his integrity. “Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow” (Philippians 2:9–10).
And this is God’s way for us too. We are promised glory — if we will suffer with him (Romans 8:17). The way up is down. The way forward is backward. The way to success is through divinely appointed setbacks. They will always look and feel like failure.
But if Joseph and Jesus teach us anything this Christmas it is this: “God meant it for good!” (Genesis 50:20).
You fearful saints fresh courage take
The clouds you so much dread
Are big with mercy and will break
In blessings on your head.

Dear Sheena,
CDA has Corrine wrapped around his little hoof and he knows it.
He is such a great horse; loved those races when he was beating Treve
before her first Arc win.
He was such a monster and that great race with Frankel; love that one,
watch that one over and over, Frankel had a big challenge when he
had a little too much tea in the stall for that race.
Love and hugs
Tizgood
Dear Judy,
It is ashame he is having so many loses and not going out on top; always blaming
the ground. Training well and just not interested anymore. Trainer just needs to
let go and let him enjoy retirement and a second career. He is an awesome horse.
I am sure it is very hard for her as it is for all trainers who have trained champions.
I just hate to see him run so poorly when he was such a great horse.
