Regretfully, we have to confirm that Zenyatta aborted her pregnancy mid-April. The cause of the abortion was found to be a low grade placentitis that triggered premature placental separation. Zenyatta has bounced back well and is enjoying the spring sunshine in her paddock.
The staff at Lane’s End Farm continues to give Zenyatta the best care possible, and for that we are incredibly grateful. Fans, we thank each of you for your love and support. Love and hugs to all.

I’m so sorry. I have contintued to hope over the last few days that it wasn’t true; that there was still a sliver of hope. My heart is broken, but I am very relieved that Zenyatta is ok and doing well. She has given me such joy. Love and comfort to everyone at Team Zenyatta, and to all who love her so dearly.

This is so sad. I wonder if Zenyatta doesn’t fret that she doesn’t have her foal each time she loses one. It seems to be the case that truly incredible racehorses like Zenyatta, Secretariat, Rachel Alexandra, to name a few, have problems reproducing, at least reproducing themselves. Zenyatta is an amazing mare and I’m just glad she’s all right and not stressing, and being taken such good care of. Thanks for keeping us in the loop.?❤️

Sadly, sometimes unhappy events just happen. Nature takes its own course. So thankful Zenny is okay. That’s all that matters! Thank you Lane’s end and Jerry and Ann Moss for keeping us in the loop.

Thank you for the update, Ann, Jerry, Team Zenyatta, and Team Lane’s End. My heart is broken for Our Queen and the little foal. I know the foal has joined her beautiful siZter and handsome brother. I know Zenyatta is mostest loved and bestest cared for, and she is in beautiful surroundings! Thank you for your wonderful photos, Alys!
xoxo to ALL,

So very sorry for your loss – and Zenyatta’s. But relieved that the Queen is healthy and content. Hoping that she is able to have the joy of a healthy foal by her side in 2020!
And also, thank you for making such a good decision for Cozmic One. I’ve been following him in his new career and he looks fantastic and happy.

Sending peace, love and blessings to Zenny, Ann and all of Team Z. The little foal will be romping around the Heavenly Rainbow Bridge with brother and sister. ;) Enjoy the sunshine and warmth, dear sweet Zenny, and have a nice summer. :)

I go to this blog every day to check on Zenyatta and read all the thoughts of lovely, caring people, but seldom post myself.
No words can express how I feel. The heartbreak & pain I feel cannot be described. Just happy Zenyatta is well, & I try to picture her foal running free & playing with her brother & sister. Rest in peace, little one.

Thank you Team Zenyatta for all that you do…keeping all in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for the much needed reassurance Team Z. Zenny is getting older now and gave it her all and then some on the race track. She has blessed us with three healthy babies and has nothing else to prove. Her health is more important. Her legacy will continue as always. As Ann has said, she is a gift.

Thank goodness Zenyatta is well. That is what matters now. The little one is in a better place. Much love to all.

Thanks so much for posting about Zenyatta’s health and welfare. Rumors were rampant but I never listen to anything except what comes from Team Z. I am very sad for the Moss’ and LE as I know they love her dearly and give her excellent care but sometimes things happen. The most important thing is that Zenyatta is healthy and happy in her paddock with her friends. I am so sorry for your loss, I know she means so much to you and all those who love her. She will prevail, after all, she is the Queen.
Patty
Been wondering why there had been no news of a new foal.
Maybe next year……

Thank you for letting us know about Zenyatta aborting her foal. Although that news is sad, it is comforting and lovely to know that that Z has recovered well and is outside enjoying the Spring.

Thank-you for the information, it answers a lot of questions we had. We truly love Zenyatta as we know you do. It has to be hard for the people who are with her everyday too

I am devastated, and I am a mere fan faraway in western Massachusetts. We have to accept whatever Mother Nature deals out, I know as a breeder of purebred dogs. It is still a hard blow and those who love Zenyatta have to accept it with broken hearts. Good to know Queen Z is healthy again. Teardrops amongst the Bluegrass.

Her body knows!
Zenyatta will ALWYAS have a special place in my heart! I sooooo wish my Dad were alive to see this Gal run and her antics.
Love her!

Sorry to hear about the loss of the foal. I was hoping it wasn’t true. Glad zenatta is feeling better. Rest in peace little foal.

Prayers to the Connections and Zenyatta. Just to give you an example of how special Lanes End Farm is – I was there May 2nd and asked if Zenyatta had her baby yet. The Tour Guide was a complete professional and said Not Yet with a smile. How difficult to do that when you know the baby is lost! And once again blessed that Zenyatta is healthy!

My heart is sad but we only want Zen healthy and happy.
