Dear Sheena, Are you familiar with the British Sitcom “Rosemary & Thyme. We have just started getting it on our PBS Station. I really like it. They are two women Gardeners (Kind of like Jessica Fletcher in our Murder She wrote” Solving crimes like detectives in the series. Great music also. Although Jessica Fletcher was not a gardener, it sure reminds me of her series.
Dear Peggy.Yes,I used to enjoy “Rosemary and Thyme”.The series came to an end here a few years back but we still get plenty of repeats.A rather light hearted murder series really.I am glad you are getting to see it now reminded me of Jessica too.Some crime series are too realistic these days.Hugs Sheena
Can’t remember if it was you Elizabeth who loves La Verdad, but I remember one of the Z’sters posting about her. This is an article about her retirement. Happy, healthy life as a mama beautiful girl. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Judy,
Love La Verdad. Thanks so much for the link. Don’t envy all of these owners who have to make the tough decisions about racing versus breeding. Will look forward to her ‘babies’. They should be ‘wonders’! Hope you have a great Wednesday.

Dear Judy.CC is in a good place now he looks well and hopefully can become a great sire when he retires.I accept racing is a business but to me it is a sport.Nothing excites me more than to see a great horse run and jump too.No amount of money can buy the joy it brings me.Love and hugs Sheena
A less than attractive face can smile and we forget the homely features-but we don’t forget an ugly temper or an ugly personality. When I was very young, my grandmother would send me to the chicken house to gather eggs. A hen might be on the nest, but I could slip my hand under her in search of eggs. But sometimes I forgot which hens were just sitting on the nests and which were incubating eggs. If I mistakenly slid my hand into the nest of a brooder hen, she would explode with pecking and squawking, I never forgot it.
Some people are like brooder hens-they have hair triggers that are ready to go off for any reason. At least the hens have a reason for being that way. But life for people like that must be miserable-and their main aim seems to be to make life miserable for others. Don’t make war, make peace.
If they [my warriors] are to fight they are too few, if they are to die they are too many.
-Hendrick, Mohawk
Dear Kathy,
Hens are such protective mommas. We lived in Cuba years ago, and there were wild chickens who came to our home to eat, to lounge and to have their babies….basically, our yard was their home. We were a ‘safe haven’ for the animals. After we’d been there awhile, they came to know we were their ‘friends’ – some thought we were their parents when theirs died. They roosted in the huge mango trees and around the house and under the tall bushes. We rescued the chick orphans, if they lost their moms. I think I might still be good a ‘clucking’!
At the time, I had ‘chicken email’ going to our friends in the states. When we came back to the U. S., some of our friends were disappointed that there were no more chicken stories. I was too. That was my favorite time of our all of our memories of places we’d lived.
Thanks, Kathy, for bringing those memories back. Also, agree (as always) with your devotional today. Prickly people are so hard to be around. Have to remind myself of that occasionally. Hope you are doing much better and healing well.

Gosh, that’s so sad with all those cats being killed, also rabbits and foxes. I hope they bring the guilty party to justice! I saw Treve’s photo. She is so gorgeous! Sounds like you will have some wonderful racing soon. Enjoy! Milo is a great weatherman. Fibbs is going to get exhausted with all the campaigning he’ll be doing. Our temperatures can really drop at night here in the west. I think Zoe will stay warm, though. She has some beautiful coats! Mattie needs to stay out of the water bowl, I hope Shelby doesn’t dilly dally around with her food. Sounds like Abby will steal it. Yes, I remember Tom and Atticus. So grand to read all the posts. I have been totally out of commission for so long I wasn’t sure you’d still be here. Had to stay with Brother #1 and he had no computer and no horse racing channels. It will be forever before I get caught up. Have really missed my regular dose of Zenyatta love to make the days and weeks brighter. I pray you have all been well and safe from storms.
Vicki,
Great to have you back. Just in time for some big races coming up this weekend. The Donn and Songbird’s first race of 2016 just to mention a few.
Dear Vicki,
Welcome back ‘home’ to Zenyatta’s website! Sounds as if you are the angel in your family. God will bless you for that. Have fun catching up on all the posts. with love, Elizabeth
Hi Vicki:
Welcome back! I’ve been out of commission for the past several weeks too. I fell off of a step stool and broke both wrists. My right wrist has regained strength, but my left wrist was hurt the worst and it is taking a long time to heal.
Dear Linda,
Oh my goodness! So sorry that you took a spill — both wrists, how awful. Glad you are doing well in recovery. Wrists are pretty complicated joints so it is natural for it to take time. It is good that one of them is progressing faster so you can at least do a little bit. Take care!
Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for continued healing.

Cold weather makes sound carry for miles. A dog barks, calves bawl, cows answer, and owl hoots, and you know it is winter in the country. Somewhere in the distance coyotes tune up and our dogs listen intently. It makes a person wonder if domestic dogs and wild ones speak the same language. There may be a siren or a truck horn on a faraway highway where a driver pushes to get over a steep grade. The sounds come clearly, and so do the unusual sounds of birds in the woods-ones we never hear any other time. Farm machinery clangs, doors slam, and so it goes while we listen to other people’s lives without their knowing it.
We have a multitude of ways to communicate and let others know they are not alone in the world. But one other thing we always need to remember: let the sound you make be joyful.
The ground says, “It was from me [that] man was made,” The Great Spirit, in placing men on earth, desired them to take good care of the ground and to do each other no harm.”

Dear Kathy.The birds are singing merrily it has turned mild for today at least.I love hearing the collared doves cooing to each other.Yanworth is going for the Neptune.Mullins has many horses coming over for the festival I do hope we get some decent weather.
Mr Fibbs is on the campaign trail going to the cactus at New Hamster!He’s got his own bus.There was a story about one of their cousins turning up (alive) in a Tesco’s box of groceries somewhere in Essex.The girl has had panic attacks ever since he was running over her messages!Maybe they are coming out in support of Mr Fibbs.I didn’t know FB is 12yrs old today never dreamt one day I’d be part of it.Ray got some Moose antlers and somebody had posted a video on one of our racing FB’s reminded her of our Mad Moosie only he was running pretty fast!no signs of Fubu or Kimberly.Abby and Mango had been naughty girls while Judy was out having a meal.Not good news about Cha-Cha’s legs they are so thin with her I often wonder how they can operate.Oh,the nurses will miss you when you get back to work.It’ll be “take a dog to work day” for you!Have a great day.Love and hugs to you and take care.kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar SheenaXOXO.Have you seen Jerry Hall’s engagement ring?She can always sell it when times are hard and friends are few!!
Our weather will be heating in the next few days. It’s supposed to reach into the 80s! We are worried about the first half of February being so dry. This is usually one of our wettest months. Best wishes for all the horses and jockeys participating in the festival. Haven’t visited the ratties yet. That’s impressive that Fibbs has his own bus! Is it a Prevost? I’m sure the cousins are out in support for Fibbs. I saw the pic of Ray and the antlers. He was really enjoying it! Ah yes, Mad Moose…what’s he up to? Still waiting to hear from Kimberly and Fubu. Sounds like Abby and Mango get into lots of trouble if not supervised properly. know what you mean about little Cha Cha’s legs. Extremely tiny! I have my appointment with the specialist today to get my release to go back to work. Also an eye examination. Busy day! You have a great Friday Eve. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
Hi Zenny, Zsters and Team Z!
I haven’t posted in the past many weeks due to 2 broken wrists. Zenny, I hope you and baby are doing well. You look beautiful! I have been following your son Coz with his workouts at Santa Anita. Hope John will enter him and Ziconic in a race soon.
Zenny when is your due date? It must be soon.
Team Z thank you for posting these beautiful photos of Zenny. Alys as always, your photos are beautiful.
I sat on the edge of her bed, and she didn’t even look up. I was visiting a friend who was not okay.
It was more than a bad day, it was a sad season for her.
But I wasn’t deterred from my mission to cheer her up. And I tried everything. I suggested fun activities, reminded her of good times, quoted inspiring Scripture, and offered to play encouraging music.
I got an occasional head nod and a shrug.
As I sat there in silence, I thought back to days when I haven’t been okay. Some days I could name the pain I felt and others I couldn’t. And I remembered what I needed the most.
So I did what I should have in the first place: I hugged her and whispered in her ear, “It’s okay to not be okay.”
She sighed in relief. Permission to not be okay is sometimes exactly what we need.
We sat in comfortable silence for a long time. I reminded her that God loved these days the best — the ones we can’t fix on our own. Because He is there with us. He doesn’t always change our circumstances, and we don’t always feel something new, but we aren’t alone. Sometimes that’s all we need.
She wiped away a single tear and whispered thank you. By the time I left, I hadn’t done much, but it was enough.
Today, you might not be okay. You might be facing a mountain of sadness or impossibility. You might be walking through a valley of despair. You might not even know why you aren’t okay. You might be looking at a scary diagnosis, experiencing a financial disaster, or struggling with a wayward child.
I’ve experienced all of the above.
These are the moments we wrestle and do everything we can think of to resolve the struggle in our soul. And life sort of feels like quicksand — the harder we struggle, the deeper we sink. The days seem dark and lonely, and our soul is crushed by the heaviness of despair.
“Laying a life up against the chest of His Word, and hearing the steady beat of His heart, is the only soundtrack that strengthens the human heart.” ~ Ann Voskamp
But only one thing can refresh and renew and save our soul. And that’s the Word. Yet, God’s Word is often the last place we turn. It’s crazy to think a book with words can be the answer, but the Word of God is alive, and it cuts to the broken places and heals what we cannot.
The situation or struggle might not dissolve overnight, but we can find solace and comfort in the words He’s left for us:
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths
for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff–
they comfort me.
{Psalm 23:2-4}
There’s only one place to restore our soul and find comfort, and that’s in the quiet place at His feet, where it’s okay to not be okay.
Because one day He will make everything okay.
How can we pray for you today?

hopefully this can give encouragement to those of us who are sick, injured, ect.
may life get better <3

Frosted Dusts’em in the Maktoum Challenge in Dubai; World Cup Next
San Diego Horse Race February 3rd, 2016
Frosted lived up to his overwhelming 1-2 odds. The big grey colt dusted the field in Round 2 of the Maktoum Challenge at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai setting a new track record for the 1 1/8 mile at 1:56.67.
Sitting close to a dawdling pace, jockey William Buick stepped on the gas at the eighth pole and showing an impressive turn of foot, Frosted quickly separated himself from the pack and drew off the last 16th of a mile.
Gold City, riding the rail, finished a distant second followed by Faulkner and Munaaser. http://sdhorserace.com/
Congrats to Frosted and his team. Hopefully, his success will bode well for the US group who will race there. Above all. Come home safely all of you Americans. And of course, all the others too.

Oh,thanks Sandy.I am soooooo happy!!! I noticed Frosted in a race about a year ago and though the first two horses were neck and neck,he was right there in the finish photo in the middle just behind and funnily enough it was him that really spoke to me. He may have come in third but he was so full of spirit and try that I could almost feel his energy. Then I watched the race and it was fabulous. Frosted is all heart and sets a good pace and really makes it exciting. Although Pharoah is also a favourite of mine,was so happy Frosted came second in the Belmont. Wow, you are always with them Frosted,happy you had a win today. You will always be a winner in my heart.
ps love them all,my senior pal Ash is 26 now and very happy and full of personality.
Wow! Frosted was impressive. He certainly looked bigger and so in command of himself. Can’t wait to see him and Chrome. Also can’t wait to see Songbird.
Vicki,
If he does well in the Donn, Keen Ice will be on his way to Dubai. We really have a talented bunch over there. Heart is with Chrome but also would be happy to see Keen Ice, a Curlin boy, do well.

Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Our weather will be heating in the next few days. Kathy XOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
P.S. Yes, I took a look at that engagement ring! It’s a good thing she’s getting it now. She is looking a little long in the tooth, as they say!
Hugs, Kathy

hi zsters :)
todays devo:
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths
for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff–
they comfort me.
{Psalm 23:2-4}
There’s only one place to restore our soul and find comfort, and that’s in the quiet place at His feet, where it’s okay to not be okay.
Because one day He will make everything okay.
How can we pray for you today?

BGG thanks too,just looked again and saw your posts-yahoooooo!
