Happy Friday!
We are proud to announce that, as of today, Zenyatta is confirmed thirty-seven days in foal.
She was bred earlier this year to the Claiborne Farm stallion War Front. Zenyatta was examined by Dr. Holder this week, and checks out to be happily in foal and in excellent health!
Wishing sunny weather and a happy Father’s Day everyone this weekend!

Preakness runner-up Itsmyluckyday out 4 months with slight pelvic-area fracture
Posted on June 19, 2013 by Jennie Rees Courier-Journal
Preakness runner-up Itsmyluckyday, who was pulled up on the backstretch during Sunday’s Pegasus Stakes at Monmouth Park, is expected to miss four months of training with a slight fracture in his pelvis.
“It’s as good as we could have hoped for,” trainer Eddie Plesa Jr., who conditions Itsmyluckyday for his wife Laurie and Triology Stable, told Monmouth’s publicity department Wednesday. “It’s a little fracture of the ilium, which is in the pelvic area. He’s still at Mid-Atlantic (an equine clinic in Ringoes, N.J.) for a little more testing today, but I expect him to be back here tomorrow or the next day.
“I’m told the success rate of a full recovery is outstanding. I heard that of 29 horses that have had this issue, 27 of them came back to run just as well as they had before, so that’s very promising.”

Thank you, Keta. That’s the part of the back that gives me trouble, so I am glad his prognosis is good. And thank you, Mikie, for being so perceptive to pull him up.

Good news for Itsmyluckyday: The winner at Royal Ascot’s Prince of Wales’s Stakes, Al Kazeem, came back from the same type of injury as IMLD! He is undefeated with 4 wins.

Know this is a little off subject of horse racing. Just wanted to ask as our canadian friends on here too..
Did any on here watch the old soap opera of the 60’s Dark Shadows? I just loved it. Was just hooked. Just loved Barnabas Collins. Heard he had a web site a few years ago and went there occasionally to visit. Interesting to see how he was doing after all these years. He was from Hamilton Ontario Canada.
I just saw though he had passed away last year. Was so sad to hear that. He was a great actor. Johnathan Frid rest in peace. I had not visited the site in a while
Louise Castello
I used to watch Dark Shadows religiously and loved it and Barnabas! I don’t know If you watched the movie they just made of it with Johnny Depp as Barnabas, but it wasn’t very good. Gosh, I loved that show. I’m glad someone else did as well.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Louise
I haven’t seen the one with Johnny Depp. I just didn’t think anyone could have replaced Barnabas.
I even watched reruns of it many years later. I was just so sad to hear he had passed. I read where the cast had a lot of reunions. I think he was about 88 when he passed last year. He posted many pictures on his web site. When I first found it I was so tickled to find it and be able to keep track. So many of our old great actors and actress’s gone now.
carol in arkansas/PUOFB
We use to sign up for specific college classes ….none of which were on atvthe same time as Dark Shadows …loved it!
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Carol and Marshall,
I had to be home from school in time to see it. Nothing could get in the way of that. I had a huge crush on Barnabas.
Marshall you were talking about Angelique, yeah what a nightmare she was.
Terry Crow
Interesting comments about Dark Shadows. I did not see the remake. Johnny Depp did a good job portraying John Dillinger but I am worried about his next movie coming out. The Lone Ranger. I”m afraid that the masked man will never be the same. Depp is playing Tonto. Nuff said.
tressia in Phoenix
Well I have to put my two-cents in here……I was also a huge fan of DS back in the day and just HAD to rush home after school to see it. With that being said I am also a HUGE Johnny Depp fan so I of course had to see the movie. The movie is not supposed to be like the TV show and it isn’t, so if you keep that in mind it is a pretty funny movie and Johnny does an excelent job of being a wierdo, like usual. If you watch the movie keep an eye out for the cameo apperance of Johnathan Frid in the Party Scene. He filmed his part just before he passed.
As for the Lone Ranger it also is not supposed to be like the TV show and I am really looking forward to see what Johnny can do with this character.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Tressia
I just was reading last night and I saw they said that Johnathan Frid was in the party scene. you are right. I think I will have to see the movie with Johnny Depp.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Terry
Did you watch any of Dark Shadows back in the day.
Sue Fl CPRC "COZ I Can" 2015
I think I am late on commenting here but can’t resist. Johnny Depp is one of the best character actors I have ever seen. He is a special guy. I don’t know what will happen in the new movie. I am sure Tonto will never be the same. Love JD and OMG Captain Jack to die for….
Louise Castello
I had to come back to this discussion to say even though I didn’t like Johnny Depp as Barnabas, I love, love Johnny Depp. I think he will do great as Tonto and his Tonto make-up is copied from a painting of a real native American and the make-up is stunning. When he is good, he is very good, he just is over the top as Barnabas Collins, in my opinion. But I love Johnny Depp. So hot!
Terry Crow
Yes, Peggy, I did. A very good one of its type.
Marshall (NC broad)
Dear Peggy,
Yes, I was a big fan of Dark Shadows, too! Loved Barnabas. I also loved the song “Quentin’s Theme” (“Shadows of the Night”) and had a bit of a crush on Quentin Collins. I really adored this show — the best of the vampires with a werewolf thrown in!
I remember, too, Barnabas’ love , Angelique who was trouble with a capital T for the Collins family.
I have not seen the movie remake, but my opinion is that when something is done well originally, it isn’t possible to improve upon it. This was a classic!
Thanks for the memories!
Maryp NY
Peggy, I was a big fan of the show too. Jonathan Frid was the best. I even bought the record “Quentin’s Theme”!! Brings back memories for sure.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Mary
He was the best, wasn’t he.

My daughter loved Dark Shadows. We watched every afternoon for years. Sorry to hear that Mr. Frid had passed away.

Dark Shadows was a must watch in our house!
And, movie was not remake of the tv show.
Went to a movie last weekend and saw the previews for “The Lone Ranger”
Now , I am old enough to have gone to the Saturday afternoon movies of
The Lone Ranger and later watch the tv series.
At the end of the preview, I leaned over and whispered
This is not your Mama’s Lone Ranger.
And, parent or grandparent warning, not for young children. It will scare them.

Oh gosh thinking about the Lone Ranger. Such Fond Memories.
Terry Crow
Keta, from everything I have read and seen, I certainly agree. The basic plot is apparently that the man playing the Lone Ranger, in the movie, went to law school back east and has to be taught everything by Tonto. If any of you saw the last remake, titled The Legend of the Lone Ranger, the part was played by a man named Klinton Spilsbury who had to have his voice dubbed.

So glad for Lady Cecil and a huge WOO HOO for the Queen’s Estimate!!! What a race! And I finally figured out one of Moosie’s comments (suggesting that peeps wait until he “comes out of the stalls” before betting on him). I’m thinking stalls = where horses hang out before they race. I just heard the commentator refer to what I would call “gates” as “stalls.” AHA!

Here is sort of a horse joke, although not a talking horse. It has been posted before, so those who know it bear with me. A cowboy rides into a town, ties up his horse at the hitching post, and goes into the saloon. After about an hour, he finishes his last beer and goes outside so that he can ride home. He discovers that his horse is missing. Livid, he goes back into the saloon, lays his gun on the bar, and yells for all to hear “My horse is gone. If it is returned within them next 15 minutes I’ll forget the whole thing. If he is not out there at that time, I’ll do the same thing I did in Texas.” The cowboy then orders another beer and drinks it. When he goes outside, his horse is there at the hitching post waiting for him. The cowboy nods his head and mounts the horse. Just at that time, the bartender comes out and says “Hey, pard, just what was it you did in Texas?” Replied the cowboy, “I walked home.”

I know you all grieved with us here @ Skip Over Trouble Equine Rescue for Faith ! We are needing to get a test done on Topper (Faith’s older yearling colt) he might also have Pythiosis in the same leg/same area as Faith did. The test (same one that was done on Faith) cost $140.00 and our vet can do it on Monday. The test will then be sent off to Tx. The small injury he had when we picked him up at his temp foster home. He was kept for 2 months in a stall after being seperated from Faith and not handled. The lady would tie him to the window and go in a clean the stall, she was very afraid of him ,,didn’t know what to do with a un-handled yearling colt and did the best she could. For the record we did not put him there a different horse rescue did and we went and got him out of there as soon as we found out..I was asked why I didn’t docter it as soon as he got here ..I had to get him safe to handle for him & me. I have been treating it like proud flesh for a few days and it is not getting better so we need to have the test done …if it is Pythium we will have it treated aggressively with the shots as it would be in the earily stage…If anyone would like to help us raise the money to get this done that would be great..I will let everyone know when I reach the $140.00 amount..As I have a fundraizer up for our end of the month feed/hay bill could you please put “Topper” in the subject line so I know its meant for that >> Thank you so much Z-sisters I will try to put our paypal link here if It don’t work..we are on fb.

Great race – Woo Hoo for Sky Lantern and a terrific come from behind run!!! So sorry to hear that Papa Charlie is not well – I thought I hadn’t seen anything from Judy B for a while. Please keep us posted.

Wasn’t there a “Lantern” of some kind running in last year’s BC? She didn’t finish all that well, but I remember asking my dad to place a bet on her on my behalf.

I love Hovis. Thank you so much. My only question is “What is poncing”.

Good afternoon, all:
Could I please ask that you send thoughts and your prayers for dear Judy Berube’s Papa Charlie? He came down sick earlier this week, and so far they do not know what is wrong. Judy is worried sick. He is dehydrated, not eating much and has no interest in the other horses. Hope they get the results of lab work today. One good thing is that he was not running a temperature. Judy is just sick and doesn’t feel like posting for now. I asked if it was ok to post and ask for prayers and she said she would like that. Thank you so much from me, Judy, Abigail, and PC!. Hugs to all.
