VERSAILLES, KY — (April 11, 2016) Zenyatta delivered her fourth foal last night, April 10. She broke water at approximately 9:00 pm and foaled at 9:24 pm, delivering a handsome bay colt by War Front. We are just enamored with him, and so is Zenyatta.
For the most part Zenyatta’s foaling was uneventful and by the book, however the foal was born meconium stained. Meconium staining is an occasional event at foaling in which aspiration can occur, irritating the lungs. As a precaution and on the recommendation of the attending veterinarians, both mare and foal were taken to the clinic for close observation and treatment.
Zenyatta is bright and alert and is in excellent health following the foaling. She and her foal are in good spirits and developing a strong bond. As always, she is a great mother. Currently the foal can stand and move around the stall with minimal assistance. The pair will stay at the clinic where they will get the best possible care and attention. The foal will be watched closely for 48 hours for any changes. If he continues to do well, both Zenyatta and her foal will be able to return to the farm shortly.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Lane’s End staff, veterinarians and everyone who provided such excellent care for Zenyatta and her new colt.

I’ll bet everyone at the clinic is totally in love with the adorable mother/son duo. Zenyatta must be REALLY happy because she adores being a mom, and her newest prince is just as cute as he can be! I keep looking at the pictures and am astounded at how much he looks like her, even more than Cozzy did at that age. I wonder if the vets and vet techs are fighting over who gets to take care of Zenny and her boy. After all, she is THE QUEEN!

I think the new colt should be named Zoey. He is adorable, just like his siblings. So glad the watch is over, and that Queen Z had a fast and uneventful delivery. Hope the two won’t have to be at the clinic too long, and that everything will be wonderful with them from here on. Looking forward to the day when we see Zoey at the Derby. Much love.

Congratulations, Zenyatta, on the birth of your third prince. I hope he will follow in your hoofprints and set the tracks on fire.
Marilyn Braudrick (a new brood mare mom)
Zenyatta’a is the most attentive and caring mother I have ever seen. Our mare had a foal born early on Valentine’s morning. She is a maiden mare and is just learning. Zenyatta is experienced and knows the perfect way to do everything. This foal is so lucky to have her to clean him up perfectly and get all that fecal stained amniotic fluid off of him right away. Plus she knows from experience just how to do all the nurturing and mothering he needs if he was in any way discomfited or frightened from the staining. Lucky baby !! Fabulous mother!! If she hadn’t already been born to be a champion race horse she sure was born, as well, to be a fabulous brood mare!!!

Are they both doing well? I hope we get a picture of him nursing. Lol

Not everyone sees a friend as a wonderful responsibility. Some talk about others freely and self-servingly. When they’re with one person, they run another person down. Later they’ll switch sides if it serves a purpose. Watch out for those who are envious, the ones who find fault and try to raise their self-esteem by lowering someone else’s. The people who act in these ways are not really friends.
True friendship does not come apart at the seams when a strain is put on it. A sweet long-enduring friend is someone you recognize from a long way off-a kinship that reaches past barriers and leaps over differences. Friends may not always agree, but they will defend each other with fervent loyalty. They give of themselves and are grateful that true friendship lasts a lifetime.
Keep from quarreling, live peaceably, and don’t say bad things about each other.
