VERSAILLES, KY — (April 20, 2014) It’s a girl! Zenyatta’s third foal was born last night at Lane’s End Farm. The bay filly by War Front arrived at 12:03 am, just in time for Easter. She has one white sock and a blaze.
The foaling, Zenyatta’s third in three years, went smoothly. In attendance were Zenyatta’s owners, Jerry and Ann Moss, Dr. Holder from Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, as well as Farm Manager Mike Cline, Broodmare Manager Charles Campbell, and others from Lane’s End Farm. The Mosses are overjoyed to welcome the latest member of Zenyatta’s family. The loving mother and full-of-life foal enjoyed a beautiful and sunny Easter day.
Zenyatta has previously delivered colts by Bernardini and Tapit. Cozmic One, born in 2012, is now in training at Mayberry Farm in Ocala, FL. Ziconic, the recently-named chestnut colt by Tapit, is a yearling under the care of Lane’s End Farm.
Thanks to the Zenyatta fans who have kept watch, posted comments, and sent good wishes!

Hi!
I believe that Barbaro’s full brother, Lentenor, was also born on April 20th.
I wanted him to be born on April 19th because that is my granddaughter’s birthday
but NO such luck, and missed it again by a few minutes with Zenyatta’s new baby
girl.
Oh well!
That is life.
Thank you!

Cry for Happy! Everyone here at the library is so excited! What a beautiful, beautiful girl. Zenyatta looks thrilled with her baby girl and Ann is just so beaming and happy. Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Moss for sharing these precious lives with us. Thank you Lanes End for taking such good care of the dear ones. How fortunate we are to have them in our universe!
Elaine
She is a beauty! Thank you for letting us into Zenyatta’s world in such a personal way! I smile all the time when on the Queen’s site. Thanks again.

A Girl! What a tremendous gift for Zenny and family. Now, I think she deserves a year off.
Delrene
Dear Trina – Your Zenyatta filly poem is just perfect, either way and then you come up with an amazing birthday poem for Kathy. Your talent is just so amazing and you have such a beautiful soul and way with words.
Zenyatta, Your little filly couldn’t be cuter and she is a double miniature image of you. Perfect.
Thank you Lane’s End for sharing in her wondrous gift to the world.
Kathy
Dear Delrene,
Trina is tremendously talented. I couldn’t believe everything she worked into my poem. We are so lucky to have a poet laureate in our midst!

SO very glad for the update and the additional photos. Technical difficulty kept me off line for way too long yesterday after seeing the initial birth announcement. I am always amazed at how quickly the babies are able to be “out and about” and that head shot is just gorgeous (also confirming, of course, that she “got the ears”). The one with Ann is so heart-warming – I’ll be she is just thrilled to have a horsie granddaughter. Thanks again and again to everyone involved in keeping us “in the loop” surrounding this wonderful event. Video would be greatly welcomed :-) My name for Coz didn’t fly so I’ll try again – Princess of Zen!

Good one, Sandy.

A filly! I’m overjoyed!
Glad everyone is doing so well. That first miscarriage puts her foals late in the year, but the Mosses are great about letting their horses grow first, race later. Thanks for keeping us informed.
Helena
Congratulations to all – so wonderful to see such dedicated staff and hands-on owners!

14 has an incredible fierce presence for a newborn. Z now has a trio of beauties, and they have her as an inspiration.
Thank you to the Mosses, Team Z and Lane’s End for keeping Z’s fans informed. There is clearly no comparison between Z and any other horse, a true divine gift.

Dear Max:
Was waiting for a post from you. Z is just Extraordinary and all of her babies too! Think this little one is feisty. Love and Hugs, JB

JudyB. I think that 14 could well be turn out to be a diva. She has a superior look about her, and I mean that in a very good way. Her expression in that photo with her ears already alertly pricked and only hours old, reminds me of Quevega, Queen of the divas, and a record holder. Generally speaking, divas can be extraordinary racers. They know exactly what they are doing. She also has the blood of one of your favorites, Danzig. He was intense like his father.

Dear Max:
I agree. Definitely Diva! She has a presence about her already and the looks to go with it. Yes, I loved Danzig and his Daddy, the great Northern Dancer. Love and Hugs, JB

Now, I like that Max, this is impressive!

JudyB and Danzig fans. Here is Danzig, 14’s granddaddy. Was she channelling him in her first solo photo? Time will tell. In the meantime, both seem to be intense horses, and 14 is only hours old.

Messed up in that one. That is Z and Life Is Sweet. For those who missed it, it’s worth a look. Here’s Danzig, I hope.

Dear Max:
Loved seeing the video of Z and Life is Sweet again. The video of Danzig is rare. You can see that War Front got his off center blaze stripe from his Daddy. Magnificent stallions, both. Thank you for posting these.
Princess Z has got those Roberto ears. Too cute. Love and Hugs, JB

JudyB. I read that Danzig was a loner. He always liked to be on his own. And he carried himself like a champion. I was struck by the photo of the baby 14 being on her own. Early photos of Coz and Red basically always had Z in them. Z must have been close by to 14, but it is something that, despite being only hours old, 14 is looking intently into the camera lens on her own. Pretty amazing. And yes indeed, she has those Roberto ears. Beautiful huge ears.

Dear Max:
Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Very young to be so intently looking at the camera. And it’s true, she seems to be very confident for only hours old. Maybe she gets that from Danzig. Z must have been close by, as you said. Can’t get enough photos of her. Love and Hugs, JB

What a beautiful Easter Lily. Congratulations to the Mosses and all the staff at Lanes End.

Congratulations to Zenny, the Mosses and the whole Zenyatta team! She is just beautiful!! Thank you all for continuing to let us share in our Queen Z’s life. I have been a racing fan since I watched Seattle Slew win his Belmont just before my 10th birthday. My dad is the one who introduced me to racing and we always spent at least one summer afternoon at Monmouth Park. One of my favorite memories is him surprising me with a trip to see Affirmed and Spectacular Bid in the Jockey Club Gold Cup. I wanted so much to witness another horse as great as those legendary runners and my wish came true with this incredible mare. Now to see her living out her retirement and watching her babies grow up and prepare for their own ran racing careers, it feels like I’m watching part of my family. The Mosses exemplify everything good in thoroughbred racing and I wish them continued success.

After all the pacing….finally this sweet treasure has arrived! ABSOLUTELY PRECIOUS :)
Good job Zenyatta! Just warms my heart and brightens my day to be a part of Z’s life…
I join everyone with a heart-felt thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Moss, Team Z, and Lanes End
for sharing Zenyatta with us….she will always be the Queen of Our Hearts. Kisses to
all those sweet noses!

Congrats to Lady Z for another beautiful baby, she sure puts her mark on all
of babies in one way or another. :)

@sheena–thank you so much for the reminder about the Queen’s birthday. She is doing wonderfully for 88, but then we know the genes she inherited. Brings back memories of when we were there in ’99 on the Queen Mum’s99th birthday. We were able to see all the royal family except Philip and Anne, who were on family “business”.
Hope she has a wonderful day.
How cute is it that 14Z had her own FB page before she was 12 hours old?
No matter what awful things are going on around the world, we always can retreat to our Z-family and friends for peace and comfort, where things are always just right, as Goldilocks would say.

Mr. and Mrs. Moss, Thank you so very much for letting me be a part of this. It is so thrilling and I am already in love with the little Princess. I have loved Zenyatta for many years as my horses were in in barn 55 and i used to visit her there I have loved all of her foals as soon as they were born. They all have her presence and outlook on life. So beautiful. And her birthing was like I prayed it would be, like gently rolling over in a moon drenched meadow. How lucky for her, her babies and all of you. This is one of life’ greatest adventures for us all and one of the greatest of my life. I hope Penny Chenery is in touch with you so she can experience this new miracle of greatness. She would love it. Again.
Thankyou,
Marilyn Braudrick

Marilyn, Such a lovely message. Thank you for posting and also for thinking of Penny Chenery. Jerry and Ann Moss are so generous; sometimes I am amazed at how they include us so much in their lives with Zenyatta. I agree with you also that this is all such a great adventure! We’re so blessed to be able to share in Zenyatta’s life and be part of the welcoming committee for her beautiful foals. To be able to share in their growing up is so exciting! Princess Z has really won all of our hearts. I can’t believe how Zenny’s first two foals have grown into such beautiful colts – so grown up, so quickly. To share this experience with so many wonderful people on this website is truly awesome and inspiring. Many blessings to you. With love, Elizabeth

Wow, there’s so much positive energy around this birth – healthy delivery, healthy filly, Easter birth, and mirror image of the most magnificent mom Zenyatta. It doesn’t get much better than that. Congrats to all. To my Zenny, you are in my heart forever and I will never forget you.
