VERSAILLES, KY — (April 20, 2014) It’s a girl! Zenyatta’s third foal was born last night at Lane’s End Farm. The bay filly by War Front arrived at 12:03 am, just in time for Easter. She has one white sock and a blaze.
The foaling, Zenyatta’s third in three years, went smoothly. In attendance were Zenyatta’s owners, Jerry and Ann Moss, Dr. Holder from Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, as well as Farm Manager Mike Cline, Broodmare Manager Charles Campbell, and others from Lane’s End Farm. The Mosses are overjoyed to welcome the latest member of Zenyatta’s family. The loving mother and full-of-life foal enjoyed a beautiful and sunny Easter day.
Zenyatta has previously delivered colts by Bernardini and Tapit. Cozmic One, born in 2012, is now in training at Mayberry Farm in Ocala, FL. Ziconic, the recently-named chestnut colt by Tapit, is a yearling under the care of Lane’s End Farm.
Thanks to the Zenyatta fans who have kept watch, posted comments, and sent good wishes!

Z14’s birth this week was an absolute blessing. Tomorrow, April 24, 2014 would have been Happy 14 for my border collie Gypsy whom I had to have put down September 6, 2013. Some people have called me crazy or whatever for remembering these milestones however how can one not think of someone who had been apart of my life for so many years?
and choosing to remember and celebrate what Gypsy was for me tomorrow… almost fourteen but thirteen solid years… miss ya like crazy girl! How I wish we could have had two more years however life doesn’t always turn out like we want. It is because of her I am owned by border collies of some kind for life lol… I have an Aussie, Border Collie x named Charlie who is going to be two in September, they absolutely make life more bearable :) Even remembering the tough times and the ones who are with us in spirit.
Thank you Z, Z14, Coz, Ziconic, and the Z community for providing somewhere to turn!

Celebrate those milestones with treasured memories. Those who don’t remember and still feel some of that love and joy in their hearts are the ones who miss out. And isn’t it wonderful we have a place where we can share those feelings without fear of reprisal or ridicule?

Sheena. Just read Nissy’s blog. He says that he watches UK TV shows so that he can be up to date on all things Brit. He also mentioned that he hopes that Bruce gets a sister who could be named Princess Nerissa. I’m confused. Is Nissy a girl?

Paul Nicholls delighted to regain National Hunt Trainers’ Championship title
Paul Nicholls admits to being pleasantly surprised at securing an eighth National Hunt Trainers’ Championship in nine years after regaining top spot in the table from Nicky Henderson this term.
The Ditcheat handler took over from arch rival Martin Pipe in 2005-06 and reigned supreme for seven straight seasons until Henderson claimed his first crown for over a quarter of a century last year.
However, thanks to the exploits of star performers such as King George hero Silviniaco Conti, Nicholls is back at the summit, with an unassailable lead going into the final weekend of the current campaign.
He insists having to overcome the loss of stable jockey Ruby Walsh and former assistant Dan Skelton has made this season’s triumph all the more sweeter, although Nicholls did admit Henderson was unlucky to see the likes of Sprinter Sacre and Simonsig sidelined through injury

April 24 Cherokee Devotional
The wild pink verbena that grew so profusely along the slopes have moved to another area. In their place are yellow flowers, unfamiliar but like sunshine after a shower. A familiar saying is that the more something changes the more it stays the same. Flowers, like people and circumstances, change so swiftly and unexpectedly that it seems like the very foundation of the familiar is moving and changing before us. The Cherokees call this a ma yi, creek water. It is always moving and changing before our eyes. Nature reminds us to renew our minds-to update and enlarge our vision instead of accepting the daily changes of the world that come to nothing. No one has ever been so perfect that he cannot surpass himself and bloom more brilliantly in another area.
When we lift our hands we signify our dependence on the Great Spirit.

Catching Up With Rachel Alexandra
Melissa Bauer-Herzog ABR Blog 04/24/2014
The most dominant filly of her crop, Rachel Alexandra almost didn’t get a chance to become a household name.
On the first Friday in May 2009, the filly won the Kentucky Oaks by 20 ¼ lengths. Breeder and co-owner Dolphus Morrison quickly ruled out a start in any of the Triple Crown races against males. However, she was purchased a week later by the partnership of Jess Jackson’s Stonestreet Stable and Harold McCormick, and the filly was then pointed to the Preakness Stakes for her first start against males and a national audience.
Rachel Alexandra went right to the lead in the Preakness under Calvin Borel, who had been on the filly in all of her 3-year-old starts and opted to ride her over Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird in the Preakness. Borel and Rachel Alexandra played a game of “catch me if you can” with the field.
She only led by a head over Big Drama during the first two calls but was a half-length in front for the third call and had built a four-length lead in early stretch. Derby winner Mine That Bird was able to cut that lead down to a length, but the filly was still in front where it mattered most … at the Preakness finish line.

There is an update on her foals in the article:
Both of Rachel Alexandra’s foals are thriving with 2-year-old Jess’s Dream preparing for a race career in Ocala, Fla. Her yearling Bernardini filly spends time at Stonestreet’s yearling division in Versailles, Ky.
“Jess’s Dream is doing a great job in his pretraining at the Stonestreet Training Center near Ocala [Florida]. Ian Brennan is managing his conditioning and it is wonderful to watch him under tack! Rachel’s 2013 filly is very professional and classy, like her dam. She is one of the currently very wooly yearlings at our nearby yearling division,” said Freeman.

I think she is sensational almost as great as her mother…………..all of her babies are knockouts…………..I have been searching for statistics….like weight and size……..no luck…….does anyone know?
ELLEN Z
Congrats Zenny on the arrival of your little girl. You are as amazing off the track as you were on. Stay healthy and happy.
Kathy
Okay, here’s my take on the blaze on the Princess’s forehead. To me it looks like an elegant lady looking slightly to the left. Her hair is in an up do. We see her swan-like neck. She’s wearing a hat and the little crook to the right at the top is the feather on the hat. Hmmmm…maybe the elegant lady is Ann Moss. And maybe the hat she’s wearing is a Kentucky Derby hat!
Skye
It is wonderful to see Zenyatta safely delivered of her 2014 foal! The new princess is a beauty. I look forward to hearing more about both Zenyatta and her new baby in the future. Thank you for allowing us to be included in the loop and share in these events. And may I say what a joy it is to see a valuable mare like Zenyatta is actually loved by her owners. There are far too few horses who are not so blessed, and it makes my heart happy to know that the Mosses truly care about their Zenny for herself and not just the babies she can produce. That photo of the introduction says it all. Hugs to the whole family, and a special wave to the handsome Ziconic, who stole my heart about this time last year.
