Zenyatta Delivers a Candy Ride Filly

VERSAILLES, KY — (May 17, 2020) Zenyatta gave birth to a chestnut filly by Candy Ride this morning at Lane’s End Farm. The foal, Zenyatta’s sixth, arrived at 5:40 a.m. ET, weighing 148 lbs. She has one hind sock and a star.

Zenyatta and her filly are both in excellent health following an easy delivery. It brings us such joy to see them bonding in their paddock on this beautiful day.

We would like to express a sincere thank you to Zenyatta’s veterinary team and staff at Lane’s End for their dedication to the wellbeing of Zenyatta and her new foal.

    Dear Z, 20Z and all Z family,

    Hope you are doing well! Z and little Z, hope you both are staying cool and comfortable — it has been hot and humid here in NC which is typical summer conditions. We have had a longer than normal time with unsustained heavy heat this spring, thankfully; however, I think summer has won out now. Ugh!

    Hovey has once again managed to execute some brave maneuvers to save the day (not sure that the humans involved thought it was as nifty he he does), and mini mum continues to make unfavorable comments about his dressage “moves.”

    Hope everyone manages to have a safe an enjoyable holiday weekend. It’s really strange this year – federal and state operations being closed today, but lots of other things being closed tomorrow. It’s going to be really hot and humid in many places so stay cool and watch the races. Big day at Belmont. I discovered, quite by accident, that the America’s day at the Races program (aired on FS1 or 2) can actually be viewed LIVE on YouTube!! Very exciting as TVG is still at odds with the NYRA. I think this means we can also view Saratoga this way.

    Zellda had a work out yesterday, I believe she has mastered the gate. Both Coz and Ziconic had shows last weekend. Ziconic did well for his first schooling show, 2 seconds and one blue ribbon! There are pictures, short videos and a longer video all posted on El Vino and Zellda’s FB. I know that some of you are on FB because I see your names. As I mentioned before the Forum has pictures. The picture that Judy posted on the 28th had been on the Forum for 2 weeks. It’s fun to explore the world of horses on FB.

    Good luck to Mckinzie and Mike tomorrow! How about Midnight Bisou? Number one horse in the US!!!! There is even some talk about her being in the Breeder’s Cup instead of the Distaff?!!! And why not? Very talented mare.

    Coz competed in a show this AM and placed fourth out of twenty. His stable mate, Giant, placed second with Isabela’s father riding. Isabela was very pleased with Coz’s performance and how well he has improved. (her father worked with him, while she was away) It is a process she says. I know from experience that it takes years to master jumping and even longer for dressage.

    Keep all your furbabies inside and hold them tight tonight. Boom, boom I have been saying to mine!! YIKES!! Lindal

      There is a new one posted today!! It is on the Forum. She is shedding out and looks like she might be a different color other than a chestnut! Congrats to Uncle Chuck on a stunning win yesterday. He may be headed to the KD. He was a horse that Mike rode in his maiden but Mike has said he is committed to HAP. Lindal

    Thanks for our weekly dose of Hovis. He never fails to make me laugh. Poor put upon boy.

    I was really happy for Tacitus and Johnny V. Seems they put the blinkers back on and changed his running style a bit. I had Instilled Regard because of his sire, Arch.

    Got to see one of Muchie’s boys win too. His 4 year old son Fortin Hill won and looked great doing it.

      I thought of you when Instilled Regard won. I remember you liking him in the 2018 Derby because of his dad. Great win yesterday; did daddy proud.

    Just viewed the new photos of Z20 and Zenyatta. They are both so lovely. I feel that exciting things are coming for Z’s fillies. I have thought of a really good name for Z20. I thought I would share it. Zandy Cane, I think it is kinda catchy, hope you do too!

    Thank goodness for the races on TV. Getting really tired of staying home. Our Mayor here in Indy just decreed that masks were mandatory in public places. About time.

    Aunt Judy has posted a work out on Zellda’s FB. Her work out at Del Mar was 48.40 for four furlongs, 5/57. Apparently she likes Del Mar, where the surf meets the turf! FYI Lindal

    Are there any new pictures of Zenny’s little girl? I’ve seen the ones posted in this thread, but haven’t seen a new entry on the Blog. Looks like Zellda is getting set to run at Del Mar. Hope she does well. She definitely looks like Zenyatta’s Mini Me.
