Happy Monday!
Our first ever Zenyatta.com Celebration happened over Breeders’ Cup weekend in November 2013. Through the sales of our limited edition Celebration Sticker and the auction of Zenyatta memorabilia, we raised money for Thoroughbred Rehab Center, Inc. The final donation totaled $12,000, and we have all of you to thank for your support and generosity!
As our Grand Prize, we picked five fans in a random drawing to win an invitation to visit Zenyatta at Lane’s End Farm. Each winner was able to travel with their friend of choice and meet Zenyatta, 13Z and receive a tour of Lane’s End. These photos by Alys Emson document their visits.
View the complete set of photos from these visits in our Zenyatta.com Celebration Photo Gallery.
Enjoy!

You are right about the miracle part. The odds against such a thing are over a trillion to one. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Barbara, I will take a look at this. I will see if I can do. Thanks so much. I won’t forget you if I would be lucky to win. (It is even more than luck! hah)

Has Hollywood Park had their auction yet? If so did anyone go?
I think horses have been allowed to train there all this month but next Friday (January 31) might truly be the end.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
The auction starts 10 am tomorrow, and continues Saturday. Karen G. went to the previews yesterday & today and posted vids on Facebook. But you can bid online, and there are photos of every auction lot online too.

There is a lot, a lot of Zenyatta items, but e.g. lots of 125 Bobbleheads, or 1000 videos. I would think we’ll see a lot of it on Ebay.
Randy
Thank you Vicki. Just checked out the link. Lots of stuff on there… I particularly love the artwork. Good luck to anyone who bids on anything.
Sally Blank (cherish Z for my lifetime)
Ohhhhh this is so tempting, do I dare go there!? Thank you

Thanks, Vicki B. Sure is fun to view, sad, but the history, WOW!!!!
Hope everything gets a good home. Many items REALLY should go to safe keeping museum.

Thank you. So adorable. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Nice looking filly. Hope that she inherits some of Big D’s determination.
Ann NC
Heaven helps us! Me too, Max.
Thanks, BGG, she is beautiful, look at that rumpus!
shirleeinindy
BGG, the Big D legacy goes on. Can’t wait to see a photo of this little girl.
Max
shirlee. Check out BGG’s second post on this story. Photo is there. Filly has the Roberto ears.
shirleeinindy
Thanks, Max. She is a pretty little girl. So good to see the Calumet name become newsworthy again. They were THE Farm when I first got became interested in racing. I know, I’m old as dirt!
Max
shirlee. Calumet is right up there in the first ranks again with Oxbow. I love Ox. He worked like a horse to win the Preakness. Calumet also has several Dynaformers in its stables. You know how I feel about Big D.
Tiz Herself
Beautiful pictures. I wish 100x over to be able to meet Zenyatta one day…
Here is a neat article on War Front for those who may be interested… I think Z14 is going to be something else! (as are all of her babies!)
http://thoroughbredracing.com/articles/war-front-hottest-young-sire-planet/?tid=Breeding
Cannot wait to see more from War Front three year olds this year.
first there is Diamond Bachelor who won the Oak Tree Juvenile Turf Stakes at Del Mar at 8F
then there is Bashart who won the G2 With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga as a two year old going 8.5F
and the other whom I have added to my watch is Sound of Freedom (out of Seeking the Gold mare With Golden Wings)… I love the name, love the breeding, especially since Afleet (RIP dear boy) appears on the dam’s side of the pedigree and would love to see him represented!
Max

Luv ya, HH.
Thank you , Max and Sheena.

Kathy
Dear Max,
Thank you for the Hovis weekly update! I find it hard to believe there isn’t SOMEONE who reads Hovis’s blog who “knows someone” in show biz. Hovis is a star if I ever saw one. Like the Hovis Hunk moniker, Judy. Very much looking forward to the book! Happy weekend Max, Judy, and all other Hovis fans!

Can get my morning here in frigid Indy going since I have had a cup of coffee and my weekly dose of Hovis. As always, thanks Max.

That film crew missed a good bet. Don’t they know about “discovering talent?” Geesh!
Thanks as always to Sheena via Max for our weekly Hovis treat (and treats are greatly needed here on the super frozen north coast).

Max,
I truly hope that no one ever tells Hovis that his Blog appears in a publication that shares the title Horse with those barky things called Hounds.
Talk about sulking-it would be profound!

January 24 Cherokee Devotional
Other people have no more power than we do. They may have the knack for making us think they can do anything. A little adjustment down in our minds will stop the thought that we must cope and compete with those who have greater advantages. If we believe anything holds us back, limits our ability, we can know beyond a doubt that more ability resides in us than we will ever have time to hone and develop. When we are doing something we love to do, it comes naturally to mind our own business and to polish our own skills. Love for the right work takes it out of the role of labor and competition and makes it into a work of art. Then, the little competitive self is dissolved into a powerful giant that didn’t realize how much he was growing.
Your nation supposes that we, like the white people, cannot live without bread and pork and beer. But you ought to know that He, the Great Spirit and Master of Life has provided…for us in these spacious lakes…and woody mountains.

Dear Hovis–poor, poor boy. I feel your pain. I fear that any film featuring me would have to be “wide screen” too. You have lots of company. Hang in there.

Frankel legacy: the million dollar foal?
January 24, 2014 — Updated 1120 GMT (1920 HKT)
CNN) — Rarely has an animal birth been more hotly anticipated but the equine answer to the Royal Baby has taken its first tentative steps at the home of racing, Newmarket in eastern England.
On Sunday, Song produced the first filly to the superstar stallion Frankel at the National Stud, and despite it being just a few days old, the expectation on it to succeed on the racecourse is already huge.
An anticipated 130 foals will be born to Frankel in 2014, none of which will race for two years but with the potential for some sporting sibling rivalry come 2016 at the earliest.
Song is owned by Khalid Abdul Rahim, of Bahrain, who paid $1.3 million for the mare when she was already in foal to Frankel.
Later in article
Despite that there are high hopes for the filly and Frankel’s first foal, a colt, born just a few days earlier at Coolmore Stud in Ireland to a mare called Chrysanthemum. That colt is valued at £6m and has been quoted as a 100-1 shot to win the 2017 Derby.

Dear Max Congratulations to the Moose! I went on Istabraq’s facebook today and he has nearly 4,000 “likes” now,he’s already warned Binocular he’s the boss at the stud. There’s a major incident with the flooding in Somerset where’s Dave??? Still in Davos I expect. Hope you are coping with the cold again. Am getting very nervous about BB tomorrow. Hugs Sheena. Burn’s night tomorrow!!
Max
If those are recent photos of Ista on his Facebook, he looks really well. I liked his comments about hoping that Binocular doesn’t try to take his apples. Yep, Ista’s in charge.
I am also concerned for BB. Hope Sammy rides well.
Worried about The Fly. Go Fly. Annie, run like the wind.
Dave needs to come home from Switzerland and deal with all of those issues.
Haggis day is coming up quickly
It’s freezing here. Polar vortex is back.
Free the Moose now! Neigh!

When Christmas/Life is Hard
It’s hard to rejoice when your heart is hurting, and it seems like the world is celebrating around you.
But the same God who loved us enough to send His only Son understands you better than anyone else – and He’s closer to you now than anyone else can be.
Praying that God will give you strength and peace in ways only He can.
This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. I John 4:9

Zenyatta lovers – You must check out Hovis’ Facebook page. There is the most amazing video posted of a a lovely mare allowing baby goats to climb and play all over her. This girl must be as calm and sweet as our beautiful Zenyatta.
