We’re pleased to share the news that Zenyatta was bred to Medaglia d’Oro this morning. She will be checked in fifteen days to determine if she is in foal.
Thank you to the staff at Darley and Lane’s End Farm. We look forward to a happy and healthy year to come.

Dear Kathy.Wonderful devotional. It’s lovely here today a beautiful start to the Chester meeting.Aidan is over here he said Minding and AFB are both fine after the guineas meet.AFB is taking it easy until, maybe, the Irish guineas. There was another intruder at the Dyfi today could have been Clarach or maybe someone else??I was in tears watching her ringing video last night and couldn’t help thinking about the airmiles she has covered in her short life.
Wow the squirrels have kidnapped Mr Fibbs!Milo and Wimbley are on the case.We all thought he was in Indiana looking for botes I have often wondered who his first lady would be.I saw Mr Trump in the early hours if he wins you will have a glamorous first lady Bernie beat Hillary. We have elections tomorrow for the Sennydd and a new London Mayor. They say Labour is finished in Scotland.Somehow has just won the Cheshire Oaks not a pretty ride very green. She will improve for the run hopefully.Ryan hates interviews!Poor Miss Cindy is on ventilator and the family will have to make some decisions soon.Poor Little Cakees must be missing her mother.I have made an unusual friend on FB a US army general who lives in Syria!Hope you have a lovely day.Oh, our public sector workers get great pensions! A lot of “ordinary” pensioners take on part-time work to boost their income.I think it’s 65 for everyone now to receive a state pension.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Glad the weather is nice today. Good news Minding and AFB are both fine. It’s getting very exciting at the Dyfi. LOTS of drama. Lots of drama with the ratties as well. I’m sure Milo and Wimbley will find Fibbs. They’re on the case! Our politics are crazy right now. It will be a long summer! Best wishes to Somehow. Very sad news about Miss Cindy. Your General friend sounds very interesting. Very sad post on Zoe’s page about a beautiful German shepherd, Bo, dumped off at the pound by his Mercedes-driving owner. Wanted them to euthanize him. He didn’t want to take Bo to a vet and have to pay for it. A wonderful woman adopted Bo and took him to the vet to be put down. I don’t think I’ll get that story off my mind all day long. I’m sure I’ll work part time when the time comes to retire. Have a good day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Have you seen the video of the little girl who visited Z thru Make a Wish? It was on the Forum 4-30-16. Don’t know how to transfer it to the Blog. It was on Facebook too. It is in the Forum Zenyatta News and Updates. More tears, but sweet.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Nancy:
Beautiful little girl and Z was so gentle with her. Love and Hugs, JB
shirleeinindy
I encourage everyone to go to the Forum and view the video of Zenyatta and the little girl. Zenny was so gentle with her and gave her sweet kisses on her head and face. Just a reminder of why we love this great mare.
sue and tony
Thank you for giving us a heads up on this special video. No wonder Zenny remains the Queen of all hearts. How precious she was with that sweet girl. Memories were made that day for sure.

Thank you, Shirlee and Nancy.
This video is lovely. Z is SO gentle with Tiana, and it is obvious that this dear little girl is loving the Queen. As I said on the Forum, may the magic of Zenyatta help her in her battle to be healthy. Blessings and all the very best wishes to Tiana and her family. Bless you, Zenny!

Created, Called, Crowned
Life is a series of seasons. During challenging seasons, it is not uncommon to wonder about our life’s purpose or even question it if we ever knew what it was. As a child, I remember being asked to draw a picture of what I wanted to be when I grew up. It seemed so simple back then to dream up anything and just run with it, but somehow as we grow older we can be filled with doubt or insecurity in the roles we are in. We end up questioning if we are where we’re supposed to be.
I often find encouragement in the story of Esther in the Bible. Here we have a young girl who suddenly found herself in a role she never expected. She first finds favor with the king, but suddenly he begins to withdraw (talk about feeling insecure!). In the most critical hour, she feels powerless and unqualified. Sometimes, in those challenging seasons, we can also feel that way in our roles as women. Remember feeling unqualified or unprepared as a freshman in college? How about in a first job? Or the first week as a mom?
Many of us are familiar with the sentiments from the story in Esther 4:14: “Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created.” This encouraging truth is applicable in so many of our roles as women. Whenever we feel inadequate or unqualified, we must remember that God will prepare us and position us in the calling He has for our life. He will also equip us with everything we need to fulfill the destiny He has for us.
So much of our walk with God is spent in preparation and waiting. It might look like waiting for a big break in a job, seeing the kids grow up and go to college, or taking a step of faith and pursuing a forgotten dream. During these times, it can be difficult to understand God’s ways and plans for our lives. We might wonder: Is my life leading to something great? Will I make it through another day? Why am I going through all of this? We must always remember that God has a purpose for us and is the Master at working all things together for our good and His. He is working out details behind the scenes to prepare us for the calling He has for our lives.
Perhaps, like most of us, you find yourself questioning God’s calling in your life. Whether you’re going to work every day, volunteering at church, changing diapers, washing dishes, brushing tiny teeth, or any combination of these, here are three truths from Esther’s life to remember:
1. You were CREATED by an awesome God for a powerful purpose.
2. You are CALLED to a very important assignment as a woman and a mother.
3. You have been CROWNED with God’s favor for such a time as this.

Yes, not the best post for him. Wondering how Majesto will do coming out of 18. Did you hear the comments about Lani and how unpredictable he can be in the gate? Praying for a safe and sound race for all. Love and Hugs, JB

Judy,
Sounds like Lani is a bit of a head case. I, like you, just pray for a safe trip for all the horses and the jockeys. Since SBN and Exaggerator are come from behind guys, guess they could have a gossip fest at the back of the pack.
Might have a complete stomach revolt before Rachel’s Valentine runs in the Oaks tomorrow.

Yes, I too have noticed a resemblance to Z in how they stand and pose with a calm nature. Also, same dark bay coloring and look like twins in the face. Medaglia d’oro has a beautiful strong bowed neck. Another video described him as the perfect size horse, not too large or small. Gosh, wish we could fast forward to next April. Mikey always said no male was worthy of her. This may change his mind.

May 5 Cherokee Devotional
Ignorance is the night of the mind without moonlight or even a star to guide us. Then, little by little, the daylight breaks and we see more clearly. We blink our eyes and feel our way along slowly for a time. As we grow accustomed to being able to see where we are going and what we should do, we are grateful. We stood too long in the darkness; as we move into the light, now is the time to increase in wisdom.
Coming out of the darkness is not easy. We must be careful not to rush back into something that is familiar but not helpful. This is a new day and we must walk in it with caution. We must test and choose carefully, and know our private moments of joy. Slowly but surely our personal identity emerges from the darkness. We must guard it gently and carefully until we see that we are not alone in our walk toward light and wisdom. The Spirit is with us.
My heart if filled with joy when I see you here, as the brook fills with water when the snow melts in the spring…

Dear Kathy.Feliz Cinco de Mayo.Another lovely day here and at Chester.I had a long morning shopping my pharmacy has moved from one of our main streets now.Such a long way around and the old chemists had been there since the 19th century.
Oh,dear Mr Fibbs is still missing! Those squirrels are bad guys.Milo and Wimbley had gifts though everlasting doughnuts. We hab to find Fibbs before the election! Our elections are on today.US Army Ranger is running in the Chester Vase. They were just showing Shergar winning the race in 1981.Such a tragic end for him.
Did you see the video of our Alwyn I posted the link further up.Debbie gave me the heads up I never watch the BBC news.Alwyn has a typical North Wales accent we in the south have a different dialect. There is a little blue tit on the nest today no further news of Blue.Kate looked lovely yesterday I always remember my hair in that style a very long time ago.Harry is out in the US isn’t he?He is determined to keep his mother’s memory alive very popular over here.No more news of Miss Cindy.I read the story of Bo how could that owner be so cruel. What goes around comes around!Dolly looked terrific in that purple dress and she looked lovely for the Queen’s birthday.Have a lovely day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Igualmente! I think we’ll have to have some Mexican food tonight to celebrate! Aw, that’s too bad your pharmacy is so far away now. Can’t imagine wha has happened to Fibbs. Oh man…if Fibbs doesn’t show up before the election we’ll be stuck with Donald or Hilary! Good luck with your elections today. Best wishes to US Army Ranger! I know the rerun of Shergar made the memories flood back. A tragic end indeed. Yes, I saw the video with Alwyn. I have to admit I had to listen really closely to understand him. Blue’s story this year was very sad. I wonder where she is? Kate did look good yesterday. I think I did hear that Harry is here. He is to be commended for keeping his mother’s memory alive. I’m very worried about Miss Cindy. Was heartbroken over Bo. Some people are monsters. Yes, I loved that purple dress Dolly was wearing. I wonder where her mom got that. So fancy! Have a wonderful day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Good morning and hugs to all! The sun came out. Hallelujah!
Whilst crushing on M d’Or and Queen Z, and thinking of all the *stuff* that has happened this year, it’s hard to believe it’s almost Derby time.
There are some wonderful horses – I kind of like Lani. He looks so powerful, seems to have a lot in reserve.
But then I love Tapit (and of course Ziconic!)
Does anybody have a favorite, maybe not based on reason but just because?
:)
shirleeinindy
Sophia,
Already had my picks but the name Gun Runner is stuck in my head and I can’t get it out. No reason at all to pick him.
Are you the Sophia from Palace Malice’s FB?
Sophia Gates
Hi! Gun Runner is great name, images of a black-sailed sloop in the moonlight:)
But, I’m not the same person though I adore Palace Malice!
PS apparently my steed is a little nuts. Oh well?
Donna Z
My pick is Suddenbreakingnews because I love his sire, Mineshaft & grandsire on his dam’s side Afleet Alex.
Zenny, I love the Mosses’ choice of Megdaglia d’Oro!!! I will be hoping for a filly because I love both Songbird & Rachel.
I will be rooting for “Little Rachel” tomorrow in the Oaks. I would have been rooting for Songbird & Mike, but will now need to go for my 2nd choice. I hope Songbird will be back to racing soon.
Prayers for safety for both horses & riders tomorrow & this weekend…
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Donna Z:
Rooting for RV too. Godspeed; safe and should all. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Sophia:
I’m looking at a long shot, Majesto. He’s by Tiznow. Doesn’t have much of a chance; just broke his Maiden in February; 5th try, but he came in second to Nyquist in the Florida Derby. Has a closing racing style like Z. Godspeed all; safe and sound. Love and Hugs, JB
pamhomeier
I am taken with Trojan Nation and his story and hasn’t even broken his maiden yet. But he got the #1 slot and I am afraid probably took him right out of the mix. Will still keep my fingers crossed for him. And I love all the grays. And I like Nyquist too. Oh, wow, I don’t know……..

Frankel’s brother Proconsul makes his debut tomorrow at Chantilly.Trained by Andre Fabre for Khalid Abdullah he is 3yrs old.Wishng him luck.Monty has been misbehaving again mating with his “mistress” Blue. The Dyfi are to ask Natural Resources for advice on where to place the platforms Blue has also been up to visit Dai’s old nest.
Galileo Gold will not go for the Epsom Derby after the result of some genetic tests.Sheena
Max
Proconsul could be Ziconic’s twin in the looks department. From what Fabre has said about Proconsul, he’s nothing like Frankel. He’s “laid back.” Hope that’s not French code for slow.
sheena.davies(wales)
Oh no,I hope he does well.Sad about Apple Jade’s sire am not sure of the details Sarah heard about his death on twitter.Aidan seemed lost for words after today’s Chester Vase.Election results over here!

US Army Ranger won at Chester. Isn’t that enough for O’Brien? Let the critics say what they like and the bookmakers too. The horse won.
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Sheena and Max:
Godspeed Proconsul. Have to look for a photo of him. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy B from Rhode Island
Dear Max, Sheena and Z Fans:
Couldn’t find any photo more recent on Proconsul. But this one does indeed give us some idea of what a gorgeous boy he is. Very stunning looking like Ziconic. ZI appears to be a deeper Chestnut color, but both have quite beautiful Cashmere Chestnut coats. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sheena:
Godspeed to Nobby on Sunday. Monty is a fickle boy. Didn’t get to visit with Charlie as he was in his paddock, but left treats in his feed bucket. Did get to see Hudson practicing for the show on the 15th and then gave her some treats when she cooled down.
Willow has lost the baby after two weeks being in foal, but I really feel it is for the best. She is 17 and I’m very concerned for her. I think Angela is going to have her covered again. Hoping for the best for Willow. Love and Hugs, JB

May 6 Cherokee Devotional
New spring growth fills every empty space with grasses, vines, and wild roses. Blackberry bushes have sprung up everywhere and even the lilacs have a multitude of tiny seedlings taking space near the asparagus beds. Nature and human nature seem not to tolerate an empty space. Human nature, especially, works nervously trying to fill this spot and that spot with something-sometimes with whatever is available. Availability seems to be the key.
But we should never settle for something simply because it is nearby. So much that has been ill chosen in life is simply a filler rather than something carefully chosen to be a thing of joy. We should never settle for comfort alone. Caring, intelligent, people grow-and sometimes grow away from-a convenient choice. The empty spot then becomes a mark of maturity. Looking good is not enough-it is being good that counts-not just for now but in all the changing years to come.
Each man is good in his sight. It is not necessary for eagles to be crows.

Dear Kathy.Great devotional.Very late night watching some election results!Stays pretty much the same in the Sennydd except Labour haven’t an overall majority but we got 7 UKIP members.SNP didn’t get an overall majority in Scotland either but Labour are finished(for now)Tories are the 2nd biggest party in their parliament now and we always used to say there were more pandas in Scotland than tories! Then the fire alarms woke me (testing)Much warmer here today promises thunder showers this weekend.Read a very sad story from Bev Dee an FB friend they saved 6 horses from deplorable conditions 5 had to be euthanized. They hadn’t seen the light of day for 3 years now at least they have hope. She runs Bright Futures rescue.
Mr Fibbs is still missing but some squirrels hab offered help. You really need him for your election. This is a disaster for Americans eberywhere! No ransom note yet.Poor Miss Donna lost her elderly dog Jett he told her it was time.I had to laugh at Ray having a fight with the couch.I watched Red Rum’s 3rd National win AGAIN last night recalling all the emotions of that historic day.Mullins is at Chester with Wicklow Brave. Her Majesty has Dartmouth running.Lady Aurelia is coming over for the Queen Mary at RA.Wes Ward loves coming over for the royal meeting.Mini-mother has been having great fun in Florida hopefully we will hear about it next week.Monty incubated for 5 and 1/2 hours!Maybe begging forgiveness for his behaviour yesterday.Have a great Friday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
