Put the two greats together in a Match Race Zenyatta vs. Blame to see who should be crowned horse of the year 2010. Americans have not seen a Match Race since the two greats rags to riches Seabiscuit upset War Admiral on November 1,1938.
how could Zenyatta be the next Triple Crown winner when the Triple Crown races (Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes) are races for THREE year olds?
she didn’t “lose”. she missed by a nose to a kid in his own backyard with HIS ball. seconds more, she would’ve been in front of him! NO ONE can beat Zenyatta.
It was the worse race I have being seeing as this Breeders Cup 2010 at the 6th of November.
The jockey had only needed to be a little more close from the start and this was the lost in the end and in finish. I was afraid at this could be and have seeing all other races and it was exactly the same riding from the jockey.
I hope at the owner and other around Zenyatta can change their mind and will race one year more??? I respect also them all for they have done a great work with this horse and what is the price for her coming foul???
And which stallion shall they use? Please send me more info for I am crazy about racing!
Peter, the Kentucky Derby is only open to 3 year olds. Zen is 6, so she is too old. She wasn’t raced as a 3 year old because she wasn’t physically mature yet and her owners/trainer were RESPONSIBLE and didn’t race her until she was ready.
Yes, she won. Ms. Z can never lose. I think, if you noticed the last two races that Ms Z and Mike got bunched up? Switch is ok, but under normal circumstances it would not have been that close. I think the jokeys got together and delibertly got in the way…they have to be so jealous of Mike! Yes, it was a conspiracy. As for the Queen, America’s Darlin’, o, yes, she won.
I totally agree with Margo Johnson! This is a truly magnificent horse! Zenyatta did not lose; she came in slightly second after a circuitous route through heavy traffic! Blame is undoubtedly a good colt, but he had a much easier trip. This wonderful “Queen Z” is the most outstanding horse since Secretariat — this from an incurable fan of “Big Red”!!
Zenyatta certainly deserves Horse of the
Year(she should have won it in 2009). She
didn’t miss the quest for perfection; she
IS perfection! Her record speaks for itself.
WOW to see her in person was amazing and seeing her the day after her first loss she she looked great. Thank you for what you have done.To me you never lost and you are going out on top. Enjoy retirement you deserve it.

That’s right, nobody can beat Zenyatta AND Mike. They were an unbeatable team! No other horse and jockey has ever won over the hearts of the entire world like they did. Thank-you Mike for getting Zenyatta through all her races safe & sound. Best of everything for you both.

Here are my heartfelt insights on this Amazing Mare; the media and the events of The Breeders Cup. Thank you Ann and Jerry Moss, John Sheriffs, Mike Smith, Mario, Steve and the rest of Team Zenyatta for giving the world this Incredible Gift! http://whoislindamdavis.com/?p=413
What an Unbelievable filly is Zenyatta. So many of the comments are right on…she did not lose, she just missed and Blame was lucky she didn’t get free sooner b/c she would have daylighted him!! Her heart is bigger than she is!! Horse of the Year-Absolutely!! Seeing her in person on saturday just made me love her more! She is the Queen!!
I vote Horse of the Year!! My husband and I were very close to flying to Kentucky from New Brunswick, Canada, just to see her race- it would have cost us $3,000 just for the weekend! My husband was not a racing fan but he is now- and all because of Zenyatta. She is an incredible mare. I think she should try a second career in dressage or producing dressage prospects along with racing propects- what talent she has- she oozes character! Can you imagine, a cross between her and Secretariat? All the best of luck Zen- you are the best in my books!
We have the good fortune to have moved to California and have taken our 3 year old daughter to see Zenyatta in all of your races this year except Oaklawn. We take her because you teach valuable lessons to our little ones, especially little girls. You have taught her that she doesn’t have to be afraid to compete, that goals can be attained, that boundaries can be pushed, glass ceilings can be broken, heart is everything, friends and mentors are important, personality is a precious commodity, and how to be gracious when you come in 2nd. You are a winner for many more reasons than victories on the racetrack. Thank you for the little life lesson that you have given my daughter.
We have seen your last three victories in California and flew to Kentucky for the Breeder’s Cup! You are “Perfect” in our hearts…so keep “running like a Girl!!!”
Joy and sorrow are companions, and we are with you for both. God bless you beautiful Horse from Heaven.
Have pleasant zzz’s you deserve R&R and we will be watching and waiting for your little “z’s” to come. Taking a bow to you, Darla and Michael
tanya miller your a idiot if you knew anything about zenyatta you would realize that is how mike has always ridden her.He did what he thought was best and BELIEVE me his ego was not ivolved. He has ridden her to victory everytime. What have you done ?Zenyatta and mike will go down in history together as one GO ZENYATTA
Jerry and Ann Moss…..thank you so very much for sharing this great champion with her thousands of racing fans. I am thrilled with all her many wins, she was not dimished in my eyes by the head loss.
Zenyatta is one of the greatest champions of all time. I was at CD when Personal Ensign beat Winning Colors, I saw Azeri on a couple of her wins. I watched Serena’sSong win her Breeder’s Cup and they all gave me a thril but nothing like what Queen Z has done. HOY for sure, Horse for the last quarter of century. Thank you again for allowing all of us to share your joy of this great horse.
Robin
She will be greatly missed on the circuit!

Dear Anyone,
Did she win the Breeders cup?
Valeria P. Cannon
No, she lost by a nose. But in our hearts and the eyes of the world, she won by a mile! Right up there with Secretariat and Seattle Slew.
Margie Kelley
Zenyatta is a winner no matter what! She sure has touched a lot of hearts!
