Two years ago today Zenyatta delivered a curly maned filly we called Z Princess. She was on this earth a mere six months, but her memory will be with us forever. Happy Birthday, Z Princess.
❤ We remember. It was 12:03 on Easter morning when she came into our lives. Joy ran rampant all over the internet. Zenyatta’s much hoped-for filly had arrived, and what a beautiful bundle she was! We had Z Princess for such a short time, but the boundless joy of her will stay with us forever. Happy birthday, Princess Royal. Run free. ❤
As has already been said by so many others – I will never forget that Easter Sunday moment I learned of her birth or the disbelief when I learned of her tragic death. Happy Birthday dear little Princess. We know that you have shown your baby brother around the beautiful green pastures and will watch over him always. We know, too, that Steve is watching over both of you. Sending you lots of love today and always. <3
Heartfelt thanks to all of Team Z for this tribute to our beloved Princess Z–precious little “curly mane”. I, too, love thinking about her showing little Z Angel “the ropes” up there, with her grandparents and Steve looking on. They will all live on forever in our hearts.
@ Sr. Catherine-I, for one, surely hope, and believe, that we will all be in the same heaven. I once spoke with a minister about that very subject and his belief was that we would all have what we needed there–and what could we need MORE than our loved ones, be they two or four footed !! As my beloved George M. Red-dog lay dying after a stroke,I asked him to find me as I come over the Rainbow Bridge, telling him that I wanted him to be the first thing I see ! And, what could be better than wandering through a giant meadow surrounded by much-loved horses from our past? That’s why I believe that Steve Willard is there, watching over Z Princess and Z Angel.
Thank you for the beautiful post. I believe the minister to whom you spoke is very wise indeed, and as you said, “what could we need more than our loved ones, be they two or four footed”. Surely, it could not be heaven without them.
You brought tears to my eyes with your loving request to George M. Red-dog. He will be there watching for his beloved mama whenever that time comes (though not for a long time, he and we hope). Bless you, George M., and bless ZPrincess, ZAngel, Steve and all those whom we have loved — until we meet again.
Dear Zenyatta, Rest assured your foals will always be with you as they loved you.
Enjoy that Kentucky blue grass, rest after your play with your friend!
Love you with kisses and all your sons

Happy birthday Princess! I’m sorry we didn’t get to see you grow up but maybe God needed you in Heaven cause he knew your baby brother would need you. You look out for him! And don’t let those wild teenagers at him till he’s old enough!
Z Princess Happy Birthday !
Sill hurts and I still cry when I think of you.
When I saw your photo, it was impossible not to cry,
You were so adorable so beautiful, I miss you so.
You will be in my heart forever. Ingrid.
Thank you for posting the memorial to Z Princess again. She was so beautiful and so full of life. It brought me so much joy to see her pictures & read of her antics. I really miss her-she was extra special. Little Curly Mane will always be in my heart.
Z Princess, please watch over your little brother for us and also watch over your beautiful mom from heaven. Thank you for the joy & beautiful memories you gave us while you were here. You will never forgotten.
Z Princess will never be forgotten by all of us who love her mom. She was a precious foal. I think Deanna’s idea of doing an act of kindness in her memory is a beautiful one and worthy of Zenyatta’s little girl.
Team Z….Thank you for the remembrance of Z Princess; It doesn’t seem like it has been two years already.
She is now joined by her little brother–there to show him the way. Sweet dreams, little ones–you will never be forgotten.
Ahh well, I thought I could watch the videos without weeping. I smiled, laughed and cried. Precious precious memories. Thank you so much Team Z. As always you all are awesome. She will always be loved and never forgotten.
Team Zenyatta has always brought us so much joy….from watching Queen Z coming from behind to win her races, to watching her tenderness and motherly love with all her foals
We will all remember each birth with joy and feel the sadness from the loss of Princess Z and her little brother Z. God Bless!
Thank you for this remembrance of Z Princess. She was so special and is missed. I know she is showing her baby brother all of the ropes. They are having fun running through the green pastures! I miss them both!
As has already been said by so many others – I will never forget that Easter Sunday moment I learned of her birth or the disbelief when I learned of her tragic death.

Dear Ann and Jerry and Team Z:
Thank you so much for this beautiful post. Oh my goodness, I will never forget little Z Princess. How adorable she was. I remember that first post when she was born. It was something like Zenyatta’s Easter Filly! How excited and thrilled we all were. So hopeful Zenny would have a little girl and she did.
Of course Zenny does everything in style, she not only had a little filly, she had a little filly with a curly mane and a blaze in the shape of a raven or an eagle.
Z Princess will never be forgotten. I couldn’t believe it when someone text me the day she had died. To this day it is still unbelievable. We sure do miss you little girl!!
Happy Birthday Z Princess!! It is hard to believe 2 years has past.
ZPrincess is never forgotten but this post of brings back full force how exceptional our Princess was. As beautiful and amazing and unbelievable as Zenyatta was on the track I think seeing her in these videos with her baby shows even more beauty and elegance. I remember seeing the news about ZPrincess and not being able to grasp what I had read. I read it several times to comprehend the reality of it. Seeing these pictures and videos are so heartbreaking and so sweet at the same time. OMG, she was so much her mama’s girl. I hope Zenny goes back to War Front.
The poem that was written for ZPrincess included in the slide show was perfect. Loved that. Thank you for a very special post on ZPrincess’ birthday. Very well done.
Yesterday we remembered a Princess who’s time on earth was all too brief.Today in the United Kingdom we celebrate the 90th birthday of our beloved Queen Elizabeth the second. On her 21st birthday she pledged her whole life ‘whether it be long or short’ to the service of this country and the commonwealth. She has abundantly fulfilled that promise and we thank God her life has been long.As she enters her tenth decade she remains an exemplar of selflessness and fortitude.Prime Ministers and Presidents have come and gone but she remains.A constant in my life a familiar figure we think we know but don’t really. She has an air of mystery about her which is as it should be.As one of your loyal subjects I wish you a very Happy Birthday Ma’am long may you reign.SheenaX
Selflessness and fortitude, yes indeed. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II embodies these qualities and more. She has served and represented her country with great dignity and grace. I, for one, feel that the United Kingdom is part of my country, too, because we are so connected and are each other’s staunchest allies. So I join the well wishers far and wide in saying “Happy Birthday, Your Majesty”, and may you enjoy good health for many more years. Well done.
Thank you, Sheena, for your posts and all the information you bring us.
Hugs and Love
