Happy Friday!
We hope everyone is enjoying the first day of summer. Zenyatta and her two colts certainly are! Alys sent along some photos from her last visit to Zenyatta’s paddock. It’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend!
The Zenyatta Shop also has a small update this week: The “Zenyatta & Colt, April 2, 2013” print is now available in 8″ x 10″ and 11″ x 14″ sizes.
To top it off, here’s a quick video of 13Z being cheeky with his buddy and Alys’ phone…
Enjoy!

Terry,
Saratoga Race Track is the oldest sports venue in the United States and races started there in 1863. Celebrating 150 years this summer.
I urge anyone who loves racing to try to visit this grand place. The town itself is old and quaint with much to offer visitors. The race course is so historic it feels alive!
It’s just a place I have always loved since my dad took me there as a child many years ago.

Dear Z, COZ, Prince 2 and Baby Z:
Sweet Dreams. Love Ya. Hugs, JB
Sally Blank (cherish Z for my lifetime)
Zenyatta sweet Mama and all, I have to start thinking like a horse!
I am beginning to feel defeated; I run out to reinforce the wire fences and repair as our Houdini Frito will just decide to take his body weight and break part of the wire fencing down. I suggest a battery electrical fence since to me a down wire could be more dangerous to the horse before the next volunteer finds it that way.
Once again an opinion came to me from one of the head people suggesting that the other horses just may not be happy with the new situation and we should be finding Sir another home. Ever since Sirs chiropractic treatment there have been a few volunteers indicating how sweet Sir is again. Yes, these two geldings, Frito and Sir are not to be together anymore. I agree! Breaking into Sirs new pasture by Frito is not Sirs fault.
I do not know if I can do anymore. My hubby thinks I am obsessed, but I look at it as we took Sir into the Sanctuary and Sir should stay and be taken care of. I have really worked for Sirs behalf and I think he knows it. Liz has come to know Sir and has been willing to get these things together with my help to keep them separated. As old as Frito is, and he is loveable, he can be a stinker.
I am beginning to think I should go back to just being a volunteer caregiver and not get involved so emotionally, just take care of whatever horses they have and keep them out of my mind until my duties return. I came to love them, especially Sir, the one not so accepted by the others. Zenyatta must have brought out the love I have always had for the horse. Thank you Z, but I think a good dose of being with you would make me feel much better.
hugs to all
love n kisses on your soft nose Z, some to Coz and 13z,

Hugz, Sally. I’m sorry things have become so emotionally challenging at the sanctuary. ♥
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Sally:
I can feel your love, concern and frustration for Sir and for Frito. Is it possible that funds could be collected to purchase a sturdier wooden or vinyl fencing that might hold up to Frito’s bulldozing. I will gladly donate and I’ll bet a lot of Z’sters and Dumplings will too. Maybe you could mention this to the others at the rescue and see what they think. Love and Hugs, JB

Sally, I am so sorry to hear this. Sometimes our love for the horses in our lives just takes over. I understand completely how you feel. Hugs.

I totally understand what you are going through, we have young ones here that are always breaking something. As you said very well…we love them…so no matter how frustrating it gets we keep going..I use electric also to keep them behaving themselfs on top..a cheap way to do this is get 10ft 1/4 inch pvc pipe (its cheap) cut however tall you want it to be and however many strings of wire you want to add..we cut it approx 10 inch for two strings ,,but you can go higher..Anyways cut to whatever hight you want ..pre drill hole in bottom for nail….Nail it onto the top part of your wood post ( if T-posts tie on) then take the upper part and string wire around it you can skip a post in between usally…if you want it higher just cut longer..as the pvc is plastic , you can just wrap electic wire around it…so much cheaper then the ones you buy and you can make it as high as you want !! just a idea we use here..

After winning the French Open, Rafael Nadel lost in the first round at Wimbledon.
It was a stunning defeat. He is so classy-stopped & signed autographs after the match before leaving the court..
Here is what he said afterwards:
Rafael Nadal: “Enduring means accepting. Accepting things as they are and not as you wish them to be, and then looking ahead, not behind.”
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Thanks, Keta. I am amazed Rafa lost so soon, because he is such a good player.

Agree. But I am more impressed by the fact that he stopped and signed autographs for the fans. Very classy and I am now a fan.

Thank you Lanes End for the beautiful update and pic/video. I am so sorry to see fewer and fewer posting due to the sharp tongue of one. This use to be a place of so much joy. Now I find myself feeling uncomfortable when I start to read, waiting for someone to say something hurtful. My plea is to ignore and do not respond to this person or simple reply in a way that will not give reason for a response. Just a simple ‘noted” or :) If she can not get a response on her post, then perhaps she will find somewhere else to go or start changing the way she communicates. Wishing you all sweet dreams and a great week.
Ann Maree / Tennessee
Stephanie, I totally agree with you. We can’t let one person spoil our wonderful pipeline to Team Z. I had pretty much dropped out and rarely posted, but I decided to just ignore that person and not give up. Hope the powers that be figure something out soon, It was ice and peaceful while she was gone. :-)

I don’t come here all that often, so I don’t understand the posts about negative people on this site. There are the occasional posts complaining that zenny is now just a baby factory, but i just chalk that up to people who don’t know anything about horses. Mostly I come for the updates and don’t often post anything, but I do see some strong friendships that have developed. Just enjoy each other and ignore the negative.

Totally agree!!!

Stephanie, wise words and very true ones. We must never let negativity pull us down. This site was created out of love and joy and it is alive and well here. Just looking at the pics of Zenny and 13Z bring a huge smile to our faces. Her FB friends continue to grow which is amazing now that she is 3 years into her “retirement”.
Maryp NY
I agree also. I’m convinced that ignoring any negative posts is the only answer. Many of us have scolded or tried to reason with certain people and it just doesn’t stop.
Zenyatta’s wonderful place here must not be tarnished so we dumplings should carry on as always.
Love you Zenyatta, Cozmic One, and red prince!! Kisses on your soft noses and lots and lots of treats from those who care for you.

Dear Zenny friends,
As many of you read last week, I recently had the good fortune of spending a day in the Lexington KY area with Debbie G. Our “college-bound” and “expert on all things digital” Dumpling , Pati, agreed to post some of my photos so that I could share them with you here on the blog. If you click on the link, and then click on the first photo, it will enlarge, and you can use the arrow buttons at the bottom right to move through the rest of them. Pati helped me with the captions, and I have to say that it was news to me that Tasty had foaled a colt. She didn’t mention anything about him during our brief chat. Hope you enjoy seeing the horses!

I’m sure he was sticking out his tongue at Blame who was hanging over the fence in the very next paddock saying “Hey! I’m here! Come and see ME” And so, we did :-) Thanks Max!

Sandy – Thank you for sharing your photos. What fun you must have had during your visit. War Front looks beautiful – he and the Queen’s foal will certainly be stunning.
Pati- good job posting the photos and loved the captions.
Pati-Pondering College Life
I remember reading that she had given birth somewhere, but since I can’t find any record of it on the Lanes End 2013 page, I’ll amend it, and remove that until I can conclusively find the page that states it.
Happy to help. I love sharing pictures.
Pati-Pondering College Life
Well, I went back and reviewed the pages. Casey from the forum side is a member of the JC, so she ran a check and it has a record that TT had a colt, but it is not in the LE page. I don’t really know what happened to him beyond that listing. Still, I’ll keep it off the captions until LE announces something, or he is entered into a sale (all things assumed of course).
carol in arkansas/PUOFB
Hi Pati….your posts got me thinking so I checked the breeders cup nomination site and found…
TT and Candy Ride last yr…a colt …has been nominated
TT and Unbridled Song this yr…a colt…not nominated yet
its seems we are not nuts…..a colt was foaled…from there anything more is speculation….
Maryp NY
Sandy,
How nice of you to share those great photos with us. Thank you very much. I love the photo on El Vino’s fb page with War Front, you both look beautiful!

Sandy. These photos are all exceptionally good. I especially like the one of Tiznow, “uncle” to Paynter and Oxbow. He’s one of my all time favorites. He looks great in his paddock. Thanks Keta. This magazine from Keeneland was in our hotel room, and Debbie G had already scoped it out and knew about the article. Almost forgot that I had it (must be in the bag with the maps, etc.). Anyhow, lots of hotel visitors are being introduced to our Queen if they didn’t know her already.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
@Pati and Sandy–thank you so much for the visual “show”. All the pictures are phenomenal. Both Blame and War Front are just beautiful, and you know I am smitten by Tiznow.
Here is something to put size into perspective, Sandy: when we were at Claiborne, they showed us Eddington too. He is 17 hands, and you know how big he looked. Well, that makes him smaller than Zenny! (which of course is why the Mosses wanted a smaller stallion for a mate). He foals are already huge. Love and hugs to all.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
I was just on the pedigree site, checking various pedigrees. It appears that Blame and Zenny will be forever linked. Even in “defeat” (and I use that word very loosely), Zenny was the only female to appear in the stallion registry…on Blame’s page. And in the personal notes on the pedigree site, Blame is acclaimed the only horse to have beaten her. He is a beautiful boy, and I can’t hold a grudge.

nicely put, Barbara!!
