Happy Friday!
We hope everyone is enjoying the first day of summer. Zenyatta and her two colts certainly are! Alys sent along some photos from her last visit to Zenyatta’s paddock. It’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend!
The Zenyatta Shop also has a small update this week: The “Zenyatta & Colt, April 2, 2013” print is now available in 8″ x 10″ and 11″ x 14″ sizes.
To top it off, here’s a quick video of 13Z being cheeky with his buddy and Alys’ phone…
Enjoy!

Started my Sunday off on a high note. Watched Coz and his Jolly Ball, then Zenyatta’s serene face and then Red 13 doing his antics. Nice upbeat way to start a day.

Mr and Mrs Moss please keep an eye on G TEN, I know you have taken care of other horses that have been in danger.

Yes, I agree. Some of us have been watching him for some time, along with Sarbonne.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
I too hope G Ten (2008) and Sarbonne (2007) are still on the Mosses’ radar. G Ten was a Moss homebred and raced for them in 2011 and 2012. Sarbonne, as well as being a training partner for Z, raced for the Mosses 2010-2012. Now with different owners, both are racing at the claiming price of $2,500–pretty much the bottom rung. It would be nice if they could retire from racing and go on to new OTTB careers, as former Z partner Green Cat is doing with CANTER:

Trina. Great article. Green Cat must get his personality from Storm Cat. Hope that he finds a well deserved good home.

Sarbonne and G Ten are good lookers and seem to have a dwindling interest in their racing careers. I’ll be in contact with their respective trainers/owners this week.

Why doesn’t anyonwe say who Zenyatta was bred to for 2014, and is she in foal?
Pati-Pondering College Life
If you go to the post before this one, it states who she was bred to for Z14. Just go to the top, press the “blog” button, and click on the post below this one. Then you’ll see who she is in foal to for next year.
If you are like me, and don’t feel like navigating all that far, I can just tell you. ;-) Z was bred to War Front for the 2014 baby. War Front had a sensational Royal Ascot (the premier horse racing week in Europe) and is looking to be a very big stallion.

Little Big Red looks amazing! He is so very handsome and well built! Congrats to our “Queen” being with in foal again, I am hoping for a little girl this time around!
To All our Canadian Dumplings and friends, my thoughts and prayers are with you, sorry for the struggles of such crazy weather.
To Judy B: Sorry to hear Papa Charlie was sick, but I am happy he is on the mend, will keep in my prayers too! It is so hard when an animal is sick, and you don’t know why, or how to help, if the worry and sadness doesn’t get you the helplessness will!
To All the Other Wonderful Dumplings: You all sound GREAT! Still log on to read all of your posts and of course to read Hovis’s diary! I adore reading his diary every Friday night, it’s the perfect end to sometimes not so perfect week! (Thank you Max for introducing us to this colorful and most entertaining character!)

I’ve hesitated to post because I didn’t consider it appropriate given the recent tragic
events in the US. But since Sandy, Max, Sheena, Judy and Ann have noted my absence I felt an explaination was necessary. To understand you will need to return to the Blog
“April 14 Update” and seek the post from Vicki B on page 8 and my comment to
that post. The “OUCH” from you KETA absolutely stunned me-I’ve no idea where
it came from, especially since I sincerely believe I’ve been supportive of you (and
others) when unfair and unjust remarks have been posted about you. And GIRL
SARATOGA’s reference to “A FEW SOUR GRAPES” was the final straw. I felt especially
shattered because this site had been such a source of joy and comfort to me. And I guess I was feeling just a little smug because I was rather pleased with my posts
on the developing story of Black Caviar’s retirement. But KETA AND GS, your remarks put me in my place. Over the time I’ve been on this site I’ve been so impressed with the
strength and courage various folks have shown when life has thrown a nasty
one. But for my own very personal reasons I don’t have that strength. I just want
all good things for the magical Zenyatta and her current future foals, and blessings
to Team Zenyatta, Mr and Mrs Moss, Lanes End and of course America.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Kathy R./Remebering — I went back and reviewed the “April 14 Update” page 8, and what strikes me, is that although Keta said “Ouch!”, which you interpreted as perhaps a “slap” since it “stunned” you, you weren’t able to hear anything helpful that was said to you, after that one word.
Sandy, Max, Trina and I all wrote that Keta’s comment was not meant for you. All you had done was make a comment about Facebook & Twitter, and there was nothing wrong with what you said. Keta herself wrote that she didn’t think that you directed it at her, and that she is sensitive and took it personally, because of critical past posts by others (but not you, Kathy).
So I hope you are able to see that none of us wanted you to remain in distress, unable to return. And I wonder if something similar happened to you ever before, that overwhelmed you. Sometimes I find that there’s something in the present, that is reminiscent of a past event, and it makes me feel in the present, the way I felt in the past, even though the events are really unrelated. When I see that connection, it makes the present event easier to deal with. But only you would know if that could be true for you.
GirlSaratoga
Remembering:
You are an amazing person! Finding this old post from 5 weeks ago drudging it up and re-posting for all to see and read again. My comment about “Sour Grapes” had NOTHING to do with Kathy R and why she took that comment personally is beyond me! It was a message to Keta probably regarding a nasty comment you made to her! DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!!
I have apologized several times, and am done apologizing, I did NOTHING wrong, and refuse to be made to feel that i did!
Since you are so nosey and concerned, take the time to re-read the posts and investigate who wrote what to who!
I would say I feel sorry for you, but I will reserve my sorrow and pity for those more deserving. You can change your name as many times as you want, but WE ALL know who you are, it’s just sad that you come on here and cause so much pain and hurt for no reason, except for your pure enjoyment!
You should be ashamed of yourself for such unkind and pure mean behavior, I am so glad and grateful that I do not have to deal with you on an everyday basis, there is enough pain, suffering and sadness in peoples lives without you adding to it.
GirlSaratoga
Trina Nagele in So Cal
To Keta, GirlSaratoga and KathyR: you are all loved and respected here. Please stay with us, Keta and GS, and please come back, KathyR.
To Sign, aka Remembering, aka SusanL et al: There was no need to repost KathyR’s comment and especially no need to add your own capitalization of all the letters in “Keta,” “GirlSaratoga,” and “a few sour grapes.” Both Keta and GirlSaratoga have felt very bad about–unintentionally!– hurting Kathy’s feelings, and both have very graciously and sincerely apologized to dear KathyR already. It seems you just want to stir the pot instead helping everyone to get past this. Please!
Ann Maree / Tennessee
Trina, hate to see this kind of discension starting up again on Zenny’s blog. I don’t know anything about this particular issue, but I see who is behind it, and appreciate your keeping us advised. The person you referred to with the many aliases has wreaked havoc in an area that should be sunshine and light. It breaks my heart to see how this is affecting our wonderful connection to our Zenny. I sincerely hope whoever is the admistrator and monitoring the blog will take note and then the appropriate action. We just cannot let one bad apple spoil what is a cherished part of our lives, and that is, a direct connection to Team Z.
Please know, Team Z, we appreciate everything you do to stay connected with Zenny’s fans and allowing us this close connection to you. Thank you for keeping us informed, for the photos, videos, and everything that you do for us. I for one would be devastated if this connection were ever broken, for any reason. Hugs to all.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Looks like I was taken in by the hoax, Trina, as I thought Kathy R. was reposting the issue. I saw “Remembering” but have seen “Remebering” and other mispellings, and thought they were different people. Thanks.
Sign, what you’re doing is vicious, mean — but apparently that’s your real character, as we’re seeing it here. You just keep demonstrating the worst side of yourself. Please stop this.
Louise Castello
Vicki B., It is so unfortunate that it has now gotten to the point that people are being tricked into responding to things from Sign. We now have to hesitate to respond to some posts because they could be from her! Don’t feel bad about being tricked. She has many different names she uses and she is bound to have a new one soon. I sense some really serious issues going on with her. It’s troubling and hard to ignore! I cannot believe that Girl Saratoga came back and Sign has already maybe sent her away again! Please Girl Saratoga, I know it is hard, but don’t let this person win again!
Louise Castello
To everyone else on this blog, I am sorry if I overstepped my bounds by my reply to Vicki B.
Max
Louise. You only said what many others think. It’s a sad situation.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Louise, it’s not a problem for me. This is life, we’re just trying to deal with it, the best we can, in a public place. Max is right, it is a sad situation. But knowing more of the truth, is not really a bad thing. I don’t want to wear rose-colored glasses all the time.

Sheena. Kudos to you for finding Hovis and Mad Moose. Very happy that Moosie has so many Twitter followers. He’s highly amusing but he’s more than a joke. As you know, he was second to Sprinter Sacre at Cheltenham, which is a very big accomplishment. He just has some strange quirks. Hope that Gary can cure his stall issues, and get him going. I read that Gary is an expert with horses who hate starting gates. He’s also on twitter, and has been tweeting Moosie to encourage him to run.
That Maine Coon cat in the Calgary is quite amazing. The Times and BBC have mentioned her. I was impressed that she knew immediately which way to go to get help. That water looked wide and nasty with currents. Momo is a feline heroine. The article said that his mom took Kevan to Walmart to get clothes. I wonder if he picked up some duct tape there? Walmart has super supplies of duct tape, always handy in any crisis.

JudyB and Sheena. Gary, the horse shrink, is very funny too. He tweeted to Moosie that there was a bomb under gate 2, Moosie’s gate, and that there was a carrot for Moosie at the finish line. After a lot of tail swishing, Moosie ran. Just has to run faster next time.
Pati-Pondering College Life
Max,
Moose tweeted that he was sorry for not doing better and that people lost money on him, however, if they had money on a horse who refused the last three times, they needed help. LOL
It makes me feel better that the only “wager” I made was that he would break. Placing didn’t matter there. :-D

Pati, Sheena and JudyB. Moosie is really quite fascinating. His breeders appear to be women. He has very understanding owners and a very nice and patient trainer, who allows him to tweet. Moose also has the benefit of being a handsome ole chestnut, meaning that he can get away with almost anything.
As I recall, Nijinsky would often refuse to work. He would just stand still and stare into the distance and ignore his trainer. I think however that he did not refuse to race.

G Ten just ran in race 5 at Emerald Downs. Bless his heart he came in last. Started off pretty good but didn’t last very long. It breaks my heart to watch him. Wish I was able to claim him and just retire him to green pastures. I am so afraid of where he might end up at. So sad
Pati-Pondering College Life
If he was closer to me, he would have been mine a long time ago. Me and a friend have been wanting to buy an OTTB 50/50, retrain, and then put in a good home for a while now, but we could never find one that suites us both when we took size, conformation and color into consideration. We aim for horses to be at least adept at a little of everything and not a particular style, so it makes finding a home easier in our region. I track the online sales, and horses that do a little bit of everything sell a lot faster here than not.
We are both big Moss fans and I think we could put aside our differences relating to color, and claim him since he meets all of the other criteria, but he’s just too far away. :-( It breaks my heart too.

I am concerned about G-Ten and Sarbonne too. A lot of EAN members and Dumplings are keeping tabs on them.

wow
Not to worry about GTen, Sarbonne, El Vino. Remember the Mosses are billionaires and did not breed Zenyatta or any other for that matter for money. Surely they can afford to take care of the leftovers. Geez I am sure I rattled a few chains but forgive my cynical attitude because I feel this way. NO I am not being negative but again just realistic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pati-Pondering College Life
You make valid points, but calling the horses that the Mosses raced in claiming races ,because that’s where they belonged, “leftovers” is a bit mean. Being claimed away is a consequence of running in claiming races. I’m sure the Mosses do have an eye on them, and that they keep track of their homebreds. How you are being cynical and negative beyond the “leftovers” part of your paragraph is a bit confusing though. If the Mosses have an eye on them, how is this bad/sad/negative? :-/

Trina, please let us know what Old Friends say and if the Mosses are watching to make sure he is ok. I think on the forum not to long ago someone said that he had bone chips. Max
Ann NC. Moosie is scheduled to run (or maybe not) at the Curragh on September 15, 2013. They could send him somewhere else before then. The last word from Moosie himself was that he may be spending more time with Gary, his shrink. After Ascot, Moosie was described in the English press as “talented but quirky”. I would add handsome. He’s a very good looking horse, quite regal.
Sheena. There appear to be at least 3 mares who are known to be interested in Moosie: Meg, Molly and Sally. They all are seem to be from New Beginnings Horses. I wonder how Moosie feels about Quevega? Kauto’s secretly in love with her as he tweeted to the world. He also loves Black Caviar.
