Happy Friday!
We hope everyone is enjoying the first day of summer. Zenyatta and her two colts certainly are! Alys sent along some photos from her last visit to Zenyatta’s paddock. It’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend!
The Zenyatta Shop also has a small update this week: The “Zenyatta & Colt, April 2, 2013” print is now available in 8″ x 10″ and 11″ x 14″ sizes.
To top it off, here’s a quick video of 13Z being cheeky with his buddy and Alys’ phone…
Enjoy!

Hi Zenny….you look gorgeous…as usual
Marty R / Colorado
I can’t believe I’m the first to comment. My first impression was WOW!! Has 13Z grown. Zenyatta sure nourishes her babies well. And, isn’t he a stinker wanting Alys’s attention all for himself.
Thanks for these great pictures to welcome Summertime fun.

hi marty
couple of thoughts…
Red continues to be red
both foals seem to hang with Z
was the same thing last yr with Coz and his friend…they hung by Z
she must just make them feel safe…
hope you are first next time…
z13rulz
That’s the other mare with both of them. Dark bay but no distinctive hind white socks like on Z.
Pictures with Zenyatta are with Z13 only.

I wonder why it says “Zenyatta and her two colts….” Because of that I just assumed it was Zeny, but after your comment I took a closer look and I can’t see any white socks to indicate it is Zeny.
Especially Horses / So Cal
Awesome. Everyone looks great and healthy!
Especially Horses / So Cal
I have to comment about 13Z’s blaze…it is just a stunner. Somehow it would be nice if he ends up with a name that somehow makes reference to that striking feature.
Whitney Perkins
Explanation Point would make a good name and that blaze certainly resembles just that !
HeidiK Vallejo,Ca (In Awe)
All I can say is Wow!!! Look at his muscles especially, his hind quarters. He has grown so much so fast already!

Oh, yes, his rump is to dye for ;-)

That’s exactly what I thought, Wow he has really grown. It also appears he is going to be a darker color when he sheds off.

What a wonderful start to summer…our Zenny and 13Z enjoying the good life at LE. 13Z is a stunner …so big boned and balanced. Only one word applies to Zenny…magnificient.
Beth Alexander
Love them all!
rebecca
Wow but why 2 foals?
Andrea
Because they are turned out with another mare & foal. The other mare is in a couple of the pics, too.
Especially Horses / So Cal
I first I thought it was just a playful pun (“Zenyatta and her two colts….”) because of the photo of the two colts head to head next to who I thought was Zeny. But then z13rulz pointed out that the mare in the photos with both colts doesn’t have two white hind socks. So now it has me wondering too.
Especially Horses / So Cal
Meant to say “At first…”.
Very cute to see the two buddies together, next to Zeny or not.
HeidiK Vallejo,Ca (In Awe)
I think they were referring to Z13 and Coz enjoying the first day of Summer. However, they could have displayed pics of Coz too. Zen is only in a few of the pics with Z13. The other mare is bay too but, you can tell the difference in size, weight and tails. LOL
Especially Horses / So Cal
You must be right! Of course the other colt referred to in “Zenyatta and her two colts” is Coz. Duh! The photo that followed immediately after that statement made it too easy to jump to the wrong conclusion, especially if you didn’t pay close attention to what was “missing” in the photo….like two white socks.
Love it, ha-ha.
Maureen P from Santa Barbara
The other mare has a colt by Tiznow, who you see there.

Thanks as always for sharing the great pics!!! It’s been a hard week and seeing our Queen and 13Z always is a happy moment!! and I agree his blaze is soooo pretty =D kisses to both

To our Canadian Zensters, I hope you’re staying safe and not affected by all the flooding. Please, let us know how you are doing! Hugs in Dumplinghood!

Hi there Dumplings, sweet Zenny, the Redhead (Z-13) and Cozmic!
It’s been kind of a crazy week for me, but for those interested in our flood situation in & around Calgary, people are still being evacuated. I know this because I had ordered a DVD from Spruce Meadows (in Alberta, near Calgary) of our amazing HICKSTEAD and they called this morning to confirm my order. The person I spoke to said that many of the Spruce Meadows staff had been evacuated from their homes and so, Spruce Meadows was running on minimal staff until next week.
Part of the busy-ness this week for me was posting reviews of Royal Ascot on THE VAULT and because the race fields were VERY slow to finalize, I ended up writing 3 pieces instead of 2. So here’s the last bit, looking at 2 races on closing day (below) for any who might be interested. I’m very excited to see the wonderful mare, Sea Siren, from Australia running in the Diamond Jubilee!!!

Geez but our “Redhead” (Z-13) is growing fast! I am shocked at the change since the last post. But his expression is so Zen-like it’s uncanny.
Question: Is it safe to assume he’s definitely a chestnut at this point?
Zenmaster
Totally looking forward to Ascot too!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Thanks for posting the link here Abigail. This year is the first time I’ve been able to watch any of Royal Ascot – simply an amazing experience.
Kathleen95634
Yes, he is and will remain chestnut.
Abigail_1849
Thank you, Kathleen. All I can say is “YEAH” !!!!
AmandaF
He is just to beautiful. There ae no words.

Thank you Team Z and Alys for these great shots of red prince and momma Zenyatta. He sure likes his buddy and the camera. Those darn flies really bother Z, she doesn’t like them at all!! Can’t see her beautiful face but at least she’s comfortable.
Love and hugs to you Queen Z, Cozmic One and red prince.

♥ Thank you Ann and Jerry Moss, and Lane’s End for EVERYTHING you continue to share with us fans! I love how Little Big Red knews what a camera is all about :-) 13Z not only has the best mother but the best teacher of “entertaining the crowd”.
Love always XO Auntie Judy ♥

You should name him Pazzaz cause it looks like he has the letter “P” on his fore-head!

Cute, Noelle!

Thanks Alys and Lanes End for the wonderful pictures of Z 13, Zenyatta and their paddock mates.
Z13 is dominant, but sweet and surely is a big strong boy. I’m sure the Mosses are thrilled to have a big red equine grandson on the 40th anniversary of Secretariat’s Triple Crown. How much better does it get than that?
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Thank you, Team Z and LE for the new blog post. A great way to start the weekend!
@Arlene in VT–Happy, Happy Birthday. I well remember your time of flood. We were all so concerned for you. Hope this birthday is a great one. Dumpling hugs.
@Trina–love the poem. High hoof again. I laughed out loud at the saving of the Breyer Zenny and the Dumpling tag. Diastu would be thrilled. Too cute.
Happy weekend, all. Praying for dear Judy and Papa Charlie and for safe trips for all racing.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
What a wonderful way to end the week. Thanks again and again to Alys, Team Z, and everyone at Lane’s End for giving us these wonderful opportunities to follow our Zenny and her boys. Great pictures – looks like (not-so) little red is having fun with his pal. I also missed, at first, that it isn’t Zenny in some of the shots, but as pointed out above, there are clearly no white socks in some of them. Hope we get some Coz updates soon.
SharonAtlanta
13Z has hindquarters like his mom. I hope he has her turn of foot as well. Time will tell about that. He just seems to have a presence about him that I didn’t see in Coz. Can’t wait for more pictures of Red and Mom.

Good grief, how could I forget? Prayers upon prayers for Judy and Papa Charlie that all goes well for this sweet horse.
