Happy Friday!

A note on holiday orders from the Zenyatta Shop:
Orders must by placed by December 18 in order to qualify for holiday delivery. Orders placed after this date will ship after January 1st.

      Hovis has expressed what a lot of dogs and other animals feel about wearing Christmas get ups. My cats flat out refuse to even consider it and turned the tree over to punish me for the idea.

      He’s not kidding about the antlers (there was a picture in his first book). Maybe another one will be posted so that everyone can see. He certainly won’t be winning any points with Santa Claus with continued raucous behavior :-) I’m sure he just feels misunderstood.

    Hi Max,

    You’re certainly up early! Thank you for Hovis’s update. Hovis in antlers…what a picture that conjures in my mind! Poor Hovis, Christmas will be here before we know it and then maybe Mum will put away the elf costume. At least Foxy is still interested.

    December 13 Cherokee Devotional

    Nutrition, or the lack of it, plays a large part in our ups and downs. What we feed our bodies goes hand in hand with what we take into our minds. Since mind, body, and spirit work together as a whole, we cannot ignore any part of ourselves and expect to get a good performance. We must be balanced in what we eat, in what we think, and in what we believe. And there’s nothing wrong in asking for help in any of these areas-it’s a sign of wisdom to do so. The rewards of asking are well worth the effort.

    I want to tell you that our rations have been reduced to almost nothing. Many of our people have starved to death.

    Just saw on Bloodhorse.com that Lentenor, Barbaro’s brother is going to stand at stud at a farm near Anderson, Indiana. Just right up the road from me. Perhaps I can get up there to see him. Never met Barbaro, but would love to meet one of the brothers. We will have to watch him. With a fee of only $2000, bad things could happen.

      Shirlee. Agree with Ann and LauraJ. That’s a decent starting fee and good value given the gene pool from whence he came. Big D started out at a low fee and ended up on top. It is all in the hands of fate. Let us know if you get to see him.

        I would say you do an excellent job of it, Max.
        Thanks for the video on the previous page. MM now has a few more fans, as the book, Give a Moose a Muffin created much laughter in the local bookstore and I had some serious splainin to do. My new little friends think MM is great!

        • Is this for real? There’s a book about Moosie? How did I miss this? Am really behind here, but thanks Ann for the “heads up” about the video. Went back and found it – great to see MM running and jumping and ahead of almost everyone.

    went to Hollywood Park to see Ebloussante yesterday, she is absolutely stunning–took my breath away and she is just as sweet and loving as her sister-she is in training and is not supposed to have visitors but John Shirreffs was there and made a very short exception and let my family in to see her for just a minute. she is s-o-o-o-o black all over and could it be that she is even taller than zenyatta?? She is beyond gorgeous

      Lucky you!!! I have always thought Ebby is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. I kick myself every day that I didn’t get over to meet Zenny before she went to KY. Maybe I’ll meet Ebby!

    Dear Max Diolch yn Calon.Poor Hovis and Kissmuss,at least he can keep up with the tonsil tennis with Foxy!!My cat loved Kissmuss all that turkey and chicken!Nigel has a good horse at Cheltenham tomorrow ,shall I say ,one of his better behaved (sorry Moosie) the New One Sam is riding.Byddwych un cael dydd gwener hapus.       Sheena. This New One is going after The Fly. We shall see how that works out, especially if Moosie has had any influence on The New One.
      Read that David, Moosie’s jockey last weekend, worked at Saratoga last summer and wiil be back there next year. They have some jump races each week at Saratoga during the summer meet. He also said that he worked as an exercise rider and did other things.

    Help Guys, I am having a senior moment and cannot remember the name of Barbaro’s brother that is (I think) a 2 year old. It is Penn something but can’t remember exactly what it is. Just wanted to see if there was any new information out there about him.

      Dear Shirlee,

      These are the names:

      The names come from a painting of foxhounds owned by the Jacksons. Barbaro is the name of one of the six foxhounds pictured; the others are Nicanor, Lentenor, Margano, Sereno and Calypso. As long as Barbaro’s siblings keep coming along, the Jacksons plan to continue to use names from the painting.

    Dear Kathy I used to be well-trained when I had Katie,she never let me oversleep breakfast could be as early as 3 30am and many a night I’d be up until 1am trying to get her in.!She loved Kissmuss, turkey with all the trimmings!Prince Harry has reached the South pole with his army team so huge congrats to them.Hugs Sheena

      I hear there are some dogs and cats who love to sleep in. I have never had one . All of mine have been very early risers.

      Wow, the South pole! Absolutely, congratulations to them. Tough young men!

      The Pack get frequent treats. How could you look at those adorable faces and ignore them? They are not overweight, though. Their treats are just bite-size.

    Tehe, so I was really bored in study hall a few weeks ago, and wrote this out of sheer boredom. I figured I would share this with everyone and let everyone tell me what they think of the new blog layout too. It had a color scheme update, and I posted a stallion preview about Astrology while I was at it. Phew, so much stuff to post over the holidays!

      Pati. Well written and colorful. I recall vaguely having these study halls in high school, but never in college. They weren’t supervised either so we took off whenever we wanted. When is the move to Kentucky?

        I’ll know once all of my papers arrive from Midway. Still waiting on those to mosey on over here. We just finished finals yesterday, so grades aren’t all in yet either. Waiting is terrible.

        Sandy & Judy, Glad you enjoyed the pictures. i couldn’t get the video to work either. The also had penguins in sweaters and chickens in sweaters (!), but that was SO Redneck, I declined to post them. I figured we all love ponies, sweaters or not.

    I don’t post much on the blog but had to announce that Zenny’s FB page has been very active and the Queen has over 160,000 friends. Sometimes I just shake my head in amazement that so many folks remain drawn to the great mare. We all know she is something darn special and her reputation just grows and grows. I believe in a few years she will be elgible for the Horseracing Hall of Fame. Now, that will be a grand day when she is enshrined with the other greats. Her owners have worked hard to keep us all informed on her new life as well as her colts and I am thankful they do.
    Zenny, you rock!

    December 14 Cherokee Devotional

    We all experience difficult moments in life when anything worthwhile seems far away. At those hard times, it pays to remember similar moments when we have doubted our ability to cope.     Dear Max The New One and Sam win! He went up the hill like a champion was a bit of a muddling race, if he comes out of the race well he’ll go for the Christmas hurdle.I still support the Fly ,sad to say Sea Breeze fractured his shoulder at the first and has been taken back to the stables.       Sheena. I have been out in the crowds shopping for Santa. Cold weather and mighty hard work. News of The New One and Sammy is therefore most welcome. You know however how I feel about The Fly and Ruby and Mullins.
      This is awful about Sea Breeze. How bad is it?
