Dear Max Annie Power is racing now. Very impressive Girl power! is a filthy day at Cheltenham and here in Wales.Moose’s boys had a winner with Double Ross.I hope Willie doesn’t put her up against Quevega. Annie thrived in the testing conditions. All roads lead to the festival now, mouth watering choices for Ruby.Hope the celebrations are going well plus the cake!!hugs Sheena
Ann NC
Thanks, Sheena. Happy New Year.
Glad Ms Annie came home safe and sound. Congrats to, Willie , Ruby and her owner.
Max
Sheena. Bravo Annie Power. Very happy at this win for Annie. I saw photos of the win. She was so dirty from all of the mud flying that she looked like a bay. That race was 2.5 miles, and she did it with ease, although I heard that she flubbed the last hurdle. No matter, Ruby saved it. We will have to await news from Willie about the next race. Quevega owns her race so that I doubt that Annie will challenge her. Heard that Paul will enter Zarkander in a 3 mile next.
No cake yet although I looked at them. Hope that you are enjoying the New Year.
Ann NC
Thank you, Max for bringing, Annie Power to our attention. Loved the remarks from, Ruby about riding in those conditions and how Annie loved running in them.
True Grit!
Max
Ann NC. I love this horse because she reminds me of Z. Annie Power aka AP is 9 for 9. She routinely now beats the boys. She’s a big chestnut with an irregular white blaze quite reminiscent of Z. There are great things to come from her.

JANUARY Unu la ta nee’ Cold Month
The Cherokee people stand upon new ground. Let us hope the clouds which overspread the land will be dispersed, and that we shall prosper as we have never before done.

If, like a Cherokee warrior, I can look at the new year as an opportunity to stand on new ground, then strength and courage are on my side. If I have waited a long time for everything to be perfect-and there have been moments, brief as they were, that filled my expectations-then I can face the challenges. I will remember that things do work out, bodies do heal, relationships mend-not because I said it, but because I believe it. But it is time to make things right, to stay on the path. As water runs fresh and free from the woodland spring, so new life and meaning will bubble up from my own inner source. I will be still and steady, because there is nothing to be gained by showing fear in a chaotic world. I can turn from ignorance and prejudice toward a light that never goes out.
The death of fear is in doing what you fear to do.

Dear Kathy A very Happy New Year to you! I wish the clouds would disperse from my neck of the woods, is a horrible day. All our furbabies are enjoying the new year, Ray isn’t up yet though.Hope you Steve and the Puppy Pack are having a great day at least you had a bit of a lie-in!!!Hugs to you, Kisses for the Pups Sheena
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Wishing you a beautiful day and new year! It’s nice here today. The Rose Parade is about to begin. Do they broadcast it there? I’ve seen the parade in person and I’ve also gone to the park after the parade to see the floats up close. Lots of fun! Happy New Year to the FB furbabies, too! I get such a kick out of that rat, Martin. I don’t see myself as ever owning a pet rat, but Martin’s family obviously love him. I’m more of a cat and dog person. And of course Thoroughbreds. Way to poor to own a thoroughbred, but thanks to wonderful owner like the Mosses we get to share in that wonderful life a bit.
Happy 2014, hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy

HAPPY NEW YEAR to my ZEN family.
I haven’t meant to be a stranger here but my mother is very ill and I’m missing the luxury of time to visit with friends like you.
May 2014 enrich your life with many occasions for laughter, delight and surprise, with magic moments with friends and family …. and at least one thoroughbred (other than Zenny & the boys, of course!) to steal your heart away.
Love & hugs, Abigail

Abigail, Sorry to hear that your mother is ill. I hope she is doing better soon. In the meantime, take good care of yourself as this stress can really “take you down.” You and your mom will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Celeste_in_TX
Abigail, I am sorry to see your mother has been ill. It can be such a strain to care for an aging parent even without illness in the picture. I wish you strength and courage and energy to deal with things and I wish her all the best in healing and recovery. Take care of yourself in the meantime, too.

Abigail,

Thank you for posting these pictures and update.

Barbara Livingston always does great work on her blog. I wish she would visit Zenyatta as well. Each of these two champions have done so much for the sport in their own way and their achievements will live on forever.
Where so many greats do not reproduce themselves by their offspring, I am hopeful that theirs do. While it is yet to be seen if RA will be bred again, I would not care if they decide not to. She is more precious as a living monument to the sport.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
I think we are all holding our breaths on that one. I agree with you about the breeding. She has had such difficulty.

Bloodhorse memoriam. I was disappointed that they forgot Take Control, Saginaw, Secret Compass and Monzante. There were probably more that I cannot think of.
While it was not a human or equine loss, Hollywood Park was a major loss this year.

Janet, I couldn’t agree with you more! For me personally I would have also included Mentor Cane (Moss owned, Shirreffs trained) and of course my beloved Charmed Hour and Tweebster.
I did this video to some we lost, but I did neglect to add Secret Compass. However, I was also trying to pay tribute to Hollywood Park. It’s far from a masterpiece, but I tried to remember some of the less known ones…

I wish everyone a very Happy New Year of the Horse. May you be blessed with good times, friends, love, health and fortune this year, and may the horses stay safe. Much love to all.

Very nice video. I especially liked seeing Tasty and Z together, but it was all very well done. All the best to you in the Year of the Horse.
Janet Newman
Oh my gosh how could I have overlooked Mentor Cane, Tweebster, and of course I was watching the race that claimed the life of Charmed Hour, a very beautiful filly.
Ashton, the video is wonderful and Thank-you.

Dear Marshall, Laura J, Barbara. I hate to see the carriage horses go. I just wish that they would be sure that they are well cared for, and given plenty of rest when they need it.
I hope that the horses and people can keep their jobs.
For all interested, My friend “Buddy” the Clydesdale from Ocala that I befriended. I called and checked on him this morning. He is alive and doing well. He is still on the same property in Ocala. He is not doing Carriage rides anymore, but he is doing well.
I asked if you can still visit with him and they said yes. So glad my Buddy is doing well.
@Judy, remember me telling you that he liked the Stud Muffins that I got for him from the gift shop. Too Cute.

Dear Max News on Racing Post is that Frankel’s half-brother Morpheus is leaving Lady Cecil for Bill Mott.Kauto’s had a lot of birthday greetings his one wish is to lead the Gold Cup parade with his buddy Denman and maybe take part!!! Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. Morpheus racing in the US should be interesting. Time wise he is not in Dan’s league. Racing on tight turns is also difficult for a horse trained on more or less straight miles. Only Woodbine comes close over here to a UK turf track. He however deserves a chance. Does this bode well for Lady Cecil keeping Abdullah’s other horses in training?
Peggy (N) South Georgia
To all friends ,
Hope everyone has a very Happy 2014

A dear friend sent me this beyond beautiful video. It’s a must see. I hope it blesses all of you as much as it blessed me.

Barbara-Baylor stunk it up yesterday. That game is now officially the biggest upset in the history of the BCS and will remain so as the BCS is no more. The Bears were favored by 17 points. Somebody forgt to tell the defense to show up.

Dear Max I really hope Morpheus will do well in the US be so different from the lush turf of the UK.It doesn’t bode well for Jane and of course Tom Queally lost the rides on the Juddmonte horses as well. He always said anything he did in racing after Frankel would be an anti-climax.Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. Bill Mott is a great trainer so that Morpheus will have a good start. They must think that Morpheus has a good chance because it is a major move. Queally is going free lance this coming year. We’ll see how that works out. Frankel could make any jockey look good. He won those races.

Happy New Year to all my Z friends! I haven’t been on the blog nearly as much as I’d like to be lately. My one and only New Year’s resolution is to visit the blog more often.

January 2 Cherokee Devotional
This morning, snow wrapped every tree and rock in soft white, and promised to keep the outline of distant hills hidden against a gray sky. But it could not keep its promise. After a few hours the sun came out and turned it all into nature’s jewelry, beautiful dew gems sparkling on the grass. We can be so busy that we miss the little things that sweeten life, the way a pet waits to be noticed, the way an owl, a wahuhi, hoots in the woods, and a bluejay chortles in the middle of winter. It is a lovely thing to turn away from busy work to pay attention to our loved things and loved ones. We know how we wait to be told we are important. We should never wait to say or think something beautiful that will make someone’s day easier and more secure.
We do not want riches. We want peace and love.

Dear Kathy The modern World misses out on the simple things in life(which are the most beautiful) just by being too busy. We should all take time to “stand and stare”.Yes,I’ve heard of the Rose Parade, saw Uggie the dog taking part last year. Everyone was worried about the lack of messages from Ray yesterday ,his momma and daddy must have partied hard on New Year’s Eve!!Boo has 8.9 million followers now can you imagine having that many friends??Am keeping everything crossed for Sprinter’s tests tomorrow.Hugs to You Kisses for the Puppy Pack.Sheena
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Oh, I LOVE Uggie. Have you seen his commercial from a few years back where he’s waiting for Santa Claus? It’s just a classic. He’s so talented. Ray looked adorable in his New Year’s glasses on New Years Eve. He’s so great. The collage of Boo and Buddy pics is adorable. No, I can’t imagine having 8.9 million friends. They are beyond adorable plus Mum works at Facebook. So there you have it…Keep me posted on the Sprinter’s tests. Enjoy!
Hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Uggie’s commercial is on YouTube under Cute Dog Waits For Santa.
Hugs,
