Zenyatta was inducted into the Arcadia Historical Society Thoroughbred Racing Walk of Champions on May 24. She was honored, along with eight other horse and human inductees, at a gala celebration at the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden. Members of Team Zenyatta including Jerry and Ann Moss, John Shirreffs, Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs and Mike Smith attended the event. Zenyatta’s bronze plaque was previewed, and guests were treated to a video compilation of Zenyatta’s victories.
Zenyatta’s plaque will be installed in downtown Arcadia, CA. See it here along with our photos from the gala.
We’d like to thank the Arcadia Historical Society for this honor.

Special to Sandy: scanning through some recent blogs and read your description of your visit to Old Friends. Sure brought back wonderful memories of my visit there almost a year ago!!! Thanks. All our experiences refine us-and sometimes they try us to the bone. But when we’ve made it through a trying experience, we know that the next time we face this thing we will know what to do.
The old way of breaking and training a horse was to get on it and ride until it quit trying to throw the rider. Thank goodness, there are new ways now to gentle a horse, but many of us act like a horse being broken the old way. We buck and snort until we throw the rider, and even then we’re still wild and poorly adjusted. Most of us don’t like being refined. We want to do it our way-and we pay the consequences for that. It’s important, though, to remember how strong we are when we learn-and how weak when we react. Our challenge is to be open to learning throughout our lives, knowing that what we learn will help us with whatever we encounter in the future.
Press on with all your might in prompting the good work we are engaged in.

Dear Kathy.Great devotional.Another glorious day in Wales but floods in France,Belgium and Germany.Such a great start for the “bobs”.Depending on the state of the 2nd egg when they ring the birds it will be removed and sent for analysis.
Aidan has 5 runners in the Derby hope the weather in Eastern England will have improved by Saturday.I read a wonderful story about a racoon yesterday and a lady named Dorothy. Some golfer had clubbed him and he was left blind and brain-damaged.Because she lived in NC she would either have had to let him return to the wild(impossible) or euthanise him so they moved to Florida! His name is Trouper and he is now an animal ambassador visiting schools and such to teach children to be respectful of wildlife. The ratties enjoyed their ice lollies and they are going to finish Marty’sbook.Zoe lost a friend.Loved her Zoeism we all look ahead too much and forget to live in the moment it’s all we have. The supermarket was busy today sun brings people out and it’s half-term holidays.I hear Trump is coming to the UK on June 24th the day we get the result of the EU referendum!I have just posted my vote.
Poor Mango and Mattie had rain on their walk and had to rush back to the camper.I watched the docu about Echo the elephant last night again.Very touching and such a magnificent animal.Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Your nice weather continues! Yay! Glad the “bobs” are doing well. Fingers crossed for all the horses running in Saturday’s Derby. Safe trips for all. Yes, I saw the raccoon story, too. I shared it with Diane along with the story about the Golden retriever who walked himself to the dog sitters. She loved both stories and said Zoe would share them. I hope the ratties watch out for brain freeze! Good news that Marty’s book will be completed. Zoe can always be counted on for first-rate, thoughtful stories. Watch out, UK, for June 24th! I hope Mango and Mattie didn’t get too wet. I’m sure they were towel-dried, if so. I’ll have to read up on Echo. Happy Friday Eve. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

It is good to see additional honors being bestowed on Z, more than deserved. Just for fun I would like to repeat one of my favorite redneck jokes. You might be a redneck if you use a toilet seat as a picture frame. You know who you are.
Rosemary McCauley
Haha, Terry, I am one of the rednecks as you know and proud to admit it good to see your post and really appreciate your superb sense of humor.

June 3 Cherokee Devotional
In a time when so much seems to be gained through intimidation, gentleness still has amazing strength. Gentle friendliness can make everyone feel they are part of an important team-a team that is based on respect, confidence, and a willingness to help. When we lose the gentle touch, we lose control. Little else counts after our limits have been exposed. Little counts when our self-respect is gone. When we resort to hard talk, we may think we show our superior ability. Instead we show a weakness of character. The need to put someone down in hope of looking good only reveals a real lack of gentility.
It has never been wise to underestimate the person who has gentleness, compassion, and understanding. These qualities endure and help build a better world.
Our minds are agreed.

Dear Kathy.Wonderful devotional. If only??.I heard you taking about “Ode to Billy Joe” on Zoe’s page I loved that song way back when never really understood what actually happened to Billy Joe but I love a song with a story. Not a bad day at Epsom, better here in Wales and our “bobs” continue to thrive.Looking forward to the Oaks. The Epsom track is a test for both horse and man being about 500ft above sea level before they swing around Tattenham corner.Oh,Hovis eating mini-mother’s flowers! And getting a haircut plus the needles.I am not keen on Herman’s music choice either,Doughnut day for the ratties and they got to bisit Souff Dakota.Mr Fibbs already has plans to join the other 4 presidents on Mount Rushmore.I posted a heart-warming story about an elephant called Ben who “asked” for help when he was shot by those dratted poachers.A vet flew 200 miles to save him and now he is recovering well.Lovely videos on Ray’s page How they must miss Hawley D but he watches over them.Samwise will arrive on Monday.Their are flood barriers around the river seine.Serena is looking to win her 22nd grand slam and equal Steffi’s tally.Hopefully Andy can reach the final too.Have a wonderful day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Yes, way back when everyone was speculating what they threw off the bridge. You’re right, though, it was indeed a good mystery! Glad it was a pretty good day at Epsom. So glad the ospreys are enjoying such nice weather! Fingers crossed everyone comes back safe and sound in all the races on both sides of our pond! Hovis’ post was funny as always. His Mum sure has a way with words! The doughnut on Marty’s page looked particularly delicious. Their pic of Mt. Rushmore brought back memories. I was there when I was a kid. I will look for the elephant story. God bless that vet who saved him! I have loved the videos of Hawley. Yes, he watches over them just as my Holly watches over us. I can’t wait to hear of all the wonderful stories to come from Samwise! I saw the flooding in Paris. They were worried about the art in the Louvre. Best of luck to Serena. What a fabulous athlete! Best of luck, as well, to Andy. TGIF, have a wonderful day and get ready to enjoy the weekend ahead. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXOXO

What an exciting weekend for racing. Ziconic on Sunday, Beholder and Stellar Wind on Saturday and Union Jackson on Saturday at Churchill. Safe trip to all the horses.
I know Z Princess will be with Ziconic and Victor.
vicki
So glad to be back. Having to stay in the bed for this long was driving me crazy. How wonderful that Zenyatta is still being honored. What a lovely event for all of Team Z! What a great weekend ahead with Ziconic and beholder running. A special treat was seeing the post from Terry. I am also a redneck and proud of it. Also guilty of some redneckisms. With all the rain we are having I’ll probably have to row a canoe to the library before I can post again. For all the birthdays I’ve missed I wish all a very happy birthday. I will be 64 next month and I feel it right now. Blessings and love.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Vicki,
So glad to see a post from you! I am very happy, too, that you are recovering — we have missed you. Ah, I remember being 64! (that was 3 years ago – are there any brakes on this rapidly moving vehicle?) ?

Great to see Team Z all together enjoying a beautiful day. Mr and Mrs Moss are truly lovely people to include Zenny’s fans in all the celebrations of her accomplishments. I can’t name any other owners, ever, who have shown such kindness to the followers of their horses. Thank you, Ann and Jerry, John and Dottie, and everyone on Team Z for continuing to indulge all of us in our love for your Zenny…
