Zenyatta was inducted into the Arcadia Historical Society Thoroughbred Racing Walk of Champions on May 24. She was honored, along with eight other horse and human inductees, at a gala celebration at the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden. Members of Team Zenyatta including Jerry and Ann Moss, John Shirreffs, Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs and Mike Smith attended the event. Zenyatta’s bronze plaque was previewed, and guests were treated to a video compilation of Zenyatta’s victories.
Zenyatta’s plaque will be installed in downtown Arcadia, CA. See it here along with our photos from the gala.
We’d like to thank the Arcadia Historical Society for this honor.

Wonderful to see so many of the team Zenyatta group together in celebration. Any tribute to Zenyatta is so truly deserved, she is and always will be one of the most extraordinary thoroughbreds to ever run a race. In retirement, she still has such a profound effect on the hearts and minds of fans worldwide. I consider it a privilege to call myself a fan — she was and is and always will be amazing to all of us who have followed her path for so many years. Zenyatta is a gift that keeps on giving!

Thank you for sharing these photos of the Gala for Zenyatta and all the other deserving recipients. How fun for Mrs. Simmons from Indiana to attend. Looks like it was a fantastic evening of celebration. Missing???? Zenyatta munching on the grass by her people. I can imagine it! She would have loved all the excitement and accolades. She will always be the most inspirational, exciting horse of the ages . Can’t wait to see where it will be set down in Arcadia. It’s a great experience to walk and read the plaques.

Sue Noel in Sun Valley,ID
What a lovely celebration it must have been ! I do hope we will hear where the plaque can be found in Arcadia, so that we can go visit it and photograph it at Breeder’s Cup time.
Here in Sun Valley, it is as though Mother Nature said to herself “Memorial Day is here-now summer can start”, as, yesterday, after several weeks of intermittent thundershowers, gray skies and wind, the sun shone brightly on our local Memorial Day celebration at the Ketchum Cemetery, where I was, once again, honored to be asked to sing the National Anthem. The speaker they had this year, a Commander with over 500 combat hours in F15’s, from the Mountain Home Air Force base, was really great and we had a fly over of WWII fighters from the Idaho Warhawk Museum.
Barnaby and Traveller will be coming back up to their summer pasture, in East Fork, tomorrow, so it really DOES feel like summer is, indeed, beginning. They love getting out of the trailer to see their big green pasture spread out before them, making them feel like wild horses!! When they are trailered back to their winter home, at River Sage Stable, they are just as happy to be there when they get out and see the farm again. These horses are really having a wonderful life, and seem to know, and appreciate, it. Nothing but the best for them, we say, they deserve it !!
@ Sheena–I surely join you in wishing Clint Eastwood a VERY Happy Birthday today. I think I have mentioned before that he has a home here and I have been fortunate enough to have spoken with him several times. He is, indeed, a VERY cool guy
Zenny, we are all awaiting news of a possible wee one on the way. May you feel the love and kisses winging your way on the wind. Sleep tight, precious one.

Congrats Team Zenyatta. We were at Santa Anita Race Park today. Had to see and take a pic of Zenyatta statue, on my bucket list. I have #68 of the 100 Zenyatta small bronze by Nina Kaiser on my mantle.

I attended this beautiful gala in red and black with my husband and friends.
We were there, of course, for Zenyatta but also for the late Buddy Johnson from Old
English Rancho.
Seeing the video of all of Zenny’s victories and Jerry’s comment that Zenyatta
still belongs to the people was very moving!
