Happy Friday!
We want to finish off the week with a few videos showing parts of Zenyatta’s daily routine. Alys’ footage shows her in the paddock, in her stall, and eating supper: the simple moments that make up the life of a happy and healthy horse!
Enjoy!

Dear Sheena: Loved Vintage Crop (and not only because I backed him that day) – was just a lovely fellow – saw a photo of his birthday celebrations in one of the papers here with his cake. Just great to see these champions celebrated. Hope the weather is taking a turn for the better over there – we’ve got some rain on the way – hope it comes and goes before Friday evening at Moonee Valley or Debbie will get wet (not to mention Moody’s mare!). Hugs, KathyR. Oh and thanks for the search on Saloon!

Hi everyone I have been away for weeks and have just a short time today. I sure hope we get some good news soon on our Zenny baby doo. I could use good news and a gray baby would really be nice.
I have been on watch for my Mom and my dear friend that lost the men in their life just one week apart. Unbelievable these two poor souls are in deep grief after the loss of my Dad and my dear friends Jeff.
I know Trina was updating you all on what was happening and I am so appreciative of her and her help and love for really strangers.
This is truly is a blessed community and we are the best blog ever created.
I really am just missing my Dad because of the sudden death of my friend Jeff it just put the loss of my Dad in the background for a bit. Now it is hard to believe they are with us and then just gone. I have to be strong for my Mom and friend as I have unfortunately experience in the widow area. I do have photos of my Dad and Jeff on my FB page. They where assume men and I miss them very much.
So come on Z make us a baby and bring us a smile lots of us need that.
Starting to babel and cry better go. I will check back soon. Sue

Hang in there….the missing him part will stay…..the grief and pain will become more bearable
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Dearest Sue–our hearts ache for you. Though things will never be the same, they will not always be this bad. There will come a day when you can smile again. I remember that when my Daddy died, I was amazed that the world didn’t just stop. But you will smile again, even though your heart is broken now. Love to you and yours.
Diana Stuart
Dearest Sue: My thoughts are with you, your mom, and your friend’s family. I sure understand what it is like to lose loved ones close together like you have. But Barbara and Carol are right – there will come a time where the good memories stay and make you smile, and the hurt is gone. The two gentlemen were friends with each other? If so, they are now hanging out together again. And if they liked horses, they now have the inside scoop on when Zenny’s baby will be here.

Dear Sue:
You really never had the chance to grieve for your Dad when your fried Jeff passed so suddenly. The grief comes in waves; just let it flow. As other Z’sters have said in their posts, remember the joy and the happy times you had with your loved ones. They will always live in your heart and in your fond memories. You, your Mom and your friend are in my thoughts and prayers.
I know you experienced the loss of your husband, tragically, at a young age and I again want to thank you for your kind words to me last year when I lost mine. My Russ was 85, but really no matter the age when they pass, we miss them and the grief is the same. Love and Hugs, JB

OK – more to catch up on than my brain was keeping track of. Sue Noel – another great story! So good to hear from you, and belated Happy Birthday to Miss T. So glad that you were able to find new digs for the horses AND that they will be enjoying the good weather back in their favorite spot. Bet you are busy rehearsing music for Easter, and I wish I could be there to hear what you and your choir are doing.

We are going to need a chalkboard to keep track of this.
It seems Gilgai Farm actually owned 2 Zenyatta-half sisters.
One was a weanling. One was a yearling.
Here is article one To get the full info, suggest you read the whole thing.
Zenyatta’s Half Sister Brings $1.5 Million
By Deirdre B. Biles The Blood-Horse Updated: Monday, November 14, 2011
A weanling half sister to 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta (by Street Cry) commanded $1.5 million and became the first horse sold for a six-figure price at this year’s Keeneland November breeding stock sale.
Multiple Eclipse Award-winning breeder and owner Frank Stronach purchased the bay daughter of Henrythenavigator out of Vertigineux (by Kris S.) the morning of Nov. 7 during the auction’s opening session in Lexington.

Zenyatta’s Halfs: The Aussie Connection
By Deirdre B. Biles The Blood-Horse Updated: Tuesday, November 8, 2011
Rick Jamieson of Gilgai Farm in Australia sold a weanling half sister to Zenyatta for $1.5 million during the opening session of the Keeneland November breeding stock auction Nov. 7 in Lexington.
Multiple Eclipse Award-winning breeder and owner Frank Stronach purchased the bay filly.
But Jamieson still owns a yearling half sister to 2010’s Horse of the Year. Both the weanling and the yearling are by Henrythenavigator and they also are half sisters to grade I winner Balance.
“The yearling is at WinStar Farm at the moment getting broken in,” said Dermot Farrington, who is Jamieson’s bloodstock advisor. “We’re going to keep her for sure and we’re looking at trainers. At the moment, we’ve got the trainer of Balance (David Hofmans) on the list and we’ve got the trainer of Zenyatta (John Shirreffs) on the list, which is probably more likely, but we are looking at other trainers, including Simon Callaghan.”
Read more on BloodHorse.com: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/66089/zenyattas-halfs-the-aussie-connection#ixzz2O9WHO1O4
Keta Note; Here is an important excerpt from this article
Physically, there are some differences between the yearling and the weanling.
“This filly we sold here is very like Balance in body shape and the other girl is very like the big girl (Zenyatta) herself. She’s black,” Farrington said. “They are two full sisters who are physically very good, but they are two different types.”

Z familia,
I hope everyone who grieves find peace tonight. I lost my Sammi, and was a wreck. I can’t imagine the pain of losing family. There was something that my friend wrote to one of my teachers, a long time ago after she lost her mother. He said, “She isn’t gone. She’s just gone Home.” and I hope you always know that they are watching over you; always. All the loved ones we lost: the wonderful angel Kari B. and John Henry, and everyone (and every horse) is making sure that we make each day begin and end in safety. The fact that we are here and healthy (or in the process of getting there), and blessed with a soon to be Z13 and other wonderful little speed demons, means that they are champions at their job; just like we knew they would be. I hope that when you rest your head to sleep tonight, that your dreams find their peaceful center, and that you always feel that feeling that someone watches over you. I hope you cry your tears of mourning, but remember that with every tear, a piece of the pain joins the ground to nourish a new generation. New life. While the pain will never fully go away, I find that my grief just became bareable. Sometimes, it is the price we must pay. Bare the grief in order to love again, to rise from our pain, and allow ourselves to love again. For when our time comes, our relatives will also cry tears of mourning, and then, they too will realize, that it is only our turn to watch over them like our passed loved ones watch over us now. Have a restful night.

What a milestone. I wish more female jockeys could get the quality of mounts that Rosie does. Of course, she seems to have a special connection with many of her horses.
Good luck to her Saturday on Fear the Kitten and Always Kitten. I am a cat person and am a sucker for horses with some form of cat in their names. Also, being from Danville, I have a special fondness for the Ramseys and Kittens Joy.

Dearest Sue fl CPRC, so sorry to hear about the loss in your family and extended family. What can I say, in these situations words seems soo inadequate but that’s all we have. I have read all the beautiful things said by my Z nation family members and I couldn’t have said it any better seeing that I am not as gifted with words. All I have to say is that we worship an Awesome God who loves his children so much and hurts too when we are not happy or are grieving and he would make everything better. After the storm is usually calm, that’s a giving and though the journey seems so daunting now, our Father is there to carry us.
There is this music I want you to listen to, its by Josh Wilson and its called, ‘Carry me’. I hope it brings you comfort, another one you might want to listen to is ‘10,000 Reasons ‘ by Matt Redman. Am not computer savvy or I would have posted them, but you can find them on You tube. Hoping today brings great comfort for you, your mom and your friend and thank you for being there for them and being strong. The season to smile is around the corner!, it is well. Please give your loved one’s your Z nation family’s love, we are all in this together.
To the rest of my Z nation family, hope today is the Best day yet with sunshine on your faces, peace and happiness as we await the arrival of the Queen’s little Tyke.
To Queen Z, have a great day, say hi to Prince and continue to eat that extra carrot for the little princess.
To Scottie and Ann Maree, our prayers are still with you. It is well. Bye to all and have an Awesomely Blessed day.

One of the prevailing theorys is that warmer oceans are pushing their normal food out of range and they are not getting the proper nutrients. The same is postulated for the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal. There are adults, there are young of the year, but juveniles aren’t making it.

Thankyou so so much for the picture of Z and videos. She sure has become One Big Mama! If she feels like me in my ninth, then Z feels like a whale and you just can not wait to deliver!! Even though on vacation I have never forgotten my love Zenyatta.
I went once again to Mayberry Farms and met Jeanne who is the”business owner” & “operations” of the training farm where Zenyatta first worked from bottom up: That’s what they call it: bottom up. breaking, saddling, jockey up, many things, working out on a race track building muscle & endurance; all the foundation so that the selected trainer by the owner can take over to then train for racing. I loved it there once again.
Sweet Zenyatta: I hope and pray you will have your baby soon and that both of you will be healthy and strong!!
love n kisses on your soft nose, some for 12z too! Auntie Sally

HI All: Happy Birthday to Sue Fredrick!!! She always makes a point by saying I am older so I can not tell her she is now an old bag! haha
I spoke to Sue today to wish her the best Birthday and she read me her poem Trina emailed because she was having trouble having the blog accepting.
It was another awesome poem!!! Trina is sure gifted.
I had a great time visiting Fla. for three weeks and for days was up in the Ocala country to visit Mayberry Farms, where Zenyatta began her bottoms up training.
It was busy there. I sat with Jeanne Mayberry while numerous horses worked on the track and she observed them.
Prior to that, Jeanne was not there when I arrived as she was over to the day before Ocala Sales as 8 horse owners placed their horse into the sale, so Marquarita, one of her overseeers of the farm, took me over to meet in a nice pasture two mares. One mare, she pointed her out, was going to John Sheriffs as trainer. She had been purchased for $700,000 and brought from Australia. She did not tell me the owners name and for the life of me, I was so excited just to be around these young horses, that I do not know who she is by or out of. SORRY! They both were sweet and I had brought cut up carrots which they took eagerly. This $700,000 horse does not have any blaze and is a bay. She was nice sized and lovely.
Jeanne did say that she just may be getting 12z but nothing was confirmed yet. She had gone to Lanes End this past September and saw both Zenyatta and 12z.
We then went to Ocala’s Championship races. I looked forward to the 4th race for Jack Milton running as his trainer was Todd Pletcher. He was a no show. Gee Whiz!!
Last year we went to Tampa Downs and Take Charge Indy was to run. He did not show as he drew a bad position etc. I learned.
The Ocala 2 year in training sale was just awesome once again. I saw Todd Pletcher and Baeffert there the first day. Todd had his finger in a certain spot in the book of hip numbered horses and I wondered what horse that was.
A friend pointed out to me what he thought was Toby Keith and pushed me to go see him. I did, asking him if he wasToby and asked him if he was buying a horse today?
He was Toby but no he was not buying today, he was selling four horses. This friend suddenly came and said he’d like to take a picture of me and Toby; so I now have a picture. The first colt sold for $160,000. I think it was a grandson to Tiznow. I could just stand and watch these beautiful horses forever!!
When I am there, I think of these beautiful horses, that they do not know what their future is at this time, and I pray for each of them for a good life and a safe journey.
More about the Horse Sanctuary at another time. I am glad you are all hear where I can come. hugs, Sally B
